Dear Parents, Students & Staff
Our netball and rugby teams competed in
the Regional Shield last week. The Rugby
team won five of their games and the
netballers brought back the Regional Plate
for their efforts. Importantly, parents
described wonderful sportsmanship and
behavior that made Farnborough students
stand out over the two days. Well done to
all competitors and thank you to Margie, Rick and Granty for their support and assistance.

Every July NAIDOC celebrations are held around the country. Last week, we acknowledged this
important event on our parade. The new AV system was used (for the first time) to show celebrations
and indigenous award winners across a range of areas. Miss Jacienta also presented an Indigenous
Dance demonstration and explained this dance format to students.
Thank you to the Smith, Lovegrove, Bunce, Gilmour, Wenn and Skahill families for your help last
weekend to ready the school grounds and some stall items for the Fair. This weekend we will need lots
of support! We need helpers on Saturday (from 9am) to erect marques, move tables and set up stalls –
please come along if you can assist. We also still need helpers on Sunday to help man the stalls –
there are a number of rosters near the uniform shop to indicate where you can assist. We will also need
people to stay and help pack up at the end of the day.
There are many other ways you can help which are outlined in the Fair notice later in this newsletter.
Our Fair is always fantastic event and the major fundraiser for the year but we need your help – please
get involved wherever you can.

HPE & SPORTS NEWS
Congratulations to our Regional Shield Boys and Girls who last week
represented our school with great pride at the annual Rugby League and
Netball carnival. There were 24 teams in the boys Rugby League
competition. The boys played seven (7) games over the two(2) days whilst
the girls played eight (8) games of Netball. I have no doubt there were
some tired bodies on Friday night!
Our girls were the silverware recipients this time with them bringing home
the “Plate Trophy”. The girls played Frenchville Nos 2 in the Plate Final.
The final score was 16-6. The girls finished 17th overall from the 32 teams
whereas the rugby league boys finished 8th overall (from the 24 teams). A
presentation of Players Player and Incentive Awards will be given on
parade this Thursday.
Thank you to the parents who assisted over the two days!
KCD T&F
Good Luck to all of our students competing this Wednesday at the KCD
Track & Field Carnival. Books of 5 raffle tickets were sent home with all
athletes on Monday. Please ensure these are returned on Wednesday.
Don’t forget this carnival commences at 8.30am so all athletes need to
be at school in their sports uniform with hats and all other gear by no
later than 8.15am. Thank you to our parents who are able to assist out on
the day.
HELP NEEDED….
I have recently purchased some new sporting gear which needs to be put
together- a portable Junior Basketball stand, a portable Netball post, some
Junior Soccer Nets and a few other bits n pieces. I was hoping there may
be a handy dad or pop or (mum!) who could spare a couple of hours to sit
down and piece these bits of equipment together. Please let me know if
you are able to assist me out with this.
GARDEN NEWS
Well I had my first day in the garden with the students last Wednesday and
an enjoyable day was had! Thanks to the parents and green clubbers who
weeded some of the citrus trees on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to
the volunteers who came in over the weekend to tidy up the kitchen garden
and orchard-looks great. I came in on Sunday to water and print out some
paperwork for the KCD carnival and was pleasantly surprised! I hope there
are plenty of scarecrows being created as they are always a colourful
welcome to the garden.
Due to the KCD Track & Field commitments over the next three(3)
weeks I will not be able to attend Wed Green Club however if parents
are happy to attend and continue maintenance work with their
children I am happy for this. Thank you to Pam who is sheltering the
chooks and giving them an extended holiday! They will return…
Thank you To Krissy Smith (Mum and Teacher Aide) who has once
again created me a fantastic bright interesting garden work shirt. Kris
created my Sports day Team Shirt quite a few years ago. Thanks
Krissy!
