If you’re making your annual trip to Playa Grande Resort and Spa this summer or fall, your timing
couldn’t be better! There are several exciting new updates waiting to be discovered when you
arrive at your home resort!
The suites at The Ridge have undergone many upgrades from furniture in the living and dining
rooms, to new televisions and kitchen appliances. New electric cooktops have also been added.
More than 260 Playa Grande suites have been updated so far in 2016. All these improvements
have been made to equip the units with quality, modern amenities for our members to enjoy.
There’s more. The Calima restaurant has been completely renovated and is fully open and ready for
service! Calima has always been a favorite at Playa Grande. Now it’s where to go for a fabulous
Sunday Brunch and the new Sports Bar is the place to watch your favorite team while here in
paradise.
The Kids Club has also been completely renovated. There’s new technology to keep the kids
entertained and an updated vibe. Along with fun in the pool, this is the perfect place for kids.
Members may also notice that new pool chairs have been added. Along with new umbrellas,
the pool area is better than ever! The lounge chairs are upgraded often to make sure members
can comfortably enjoy lounging for hours while soaking up the sun.
Maintenance, upgrades and improvements are constantly underway at the Playa Grande We
want our members and guests to do exactly what they want, which means, relax and have a
blast!
Most members reading this newsletter are very aware of the importance of beach safety.
However, it doesn’t hurt to be reminded that the waves on the Pacific side can often times
be very large and unpredictable. New signs have been posted for the security of guests and
members. Please be extra cautious while on the beach and enjoy the water from a safe distance.

hat’s Happening in Los Cabos this Summer and Fall
Some of the best fishing in the world happens right here in the summer and fall. The cool
waters of the Pacific mix with warm currents from the Sea of Cortes to create some of the
richest fishing grounds on the planet. As a result, several major world-renowned fishing
tournaments are held in Los Cabos during the summer and fall. Even if you are not an experienced
angler interested in entering a small or mega tournament, the tournament season provides
fun for the whole family and is definitely something to experience!
One of the biggest names in tournament fishing is Bisbee. The Bisbee tournament series
makes its way to Los Cabos every summer and fall. This year, there are three tournaments
including the first in August on the East Cape (north of the international airport). This
tournament is considered a warm up for anglers preparing for the bigger tournaments in
October. The Bisbee Black and Blue and Bisbee Offshore Tournament are multi million dollar
tournaments that are filled with excitement. The weigh-in scales in front of the Puerto
Paraiso shopping plaza are a party-zone during these events. Visitors, anglers and their
families pile in to see the monsters on the scales and watch the big checks with amounts
totaling into the millions handed out to the anglers. This has become an important part of
Los Cabos culture and definitely something to see October 14-22, 2016.
Sammy Hagar’s Birthday Bash. You may recall this event if you have ever visited Cabo San
Lucas from around October 5th-October 15th. It’s a massive party. Sammy Hagar is an
international icon, famous for being a rock star and owner of Cabo Wabo cantinas in Cabo,
Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe and, of course, Cabo Wabo Tequila. His love for Los Cabos and
good times in the sun resonate with his fans who have named their group “The Redheads.”
They are true fans of the Red Rocker. Sammy hosts a series of concerts, which coincide
with other annual events such as the Red Head Beach Party, Bay Cruises, and other events
in and around Cabo San Lucas. Check out Cabo Wabo if you find yourself in Cabo during
these dates. It is truly a blast.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
E
very installment of our newsletter contains benefits that help you get the most out of your
membership. In our summer 2016 edition, we’d like to talk about the Internal Exchange benefits
and the Arrival Confirmation Letter.
Internal Exchange – As a fixed week owner, you have the benefit of traveling during the
V time of the year, or perhaps your schedule doesn’t allow you to travel during your fixed dates,
just call Member Services and internally exchange your week. You can visit your home resort
at a different time of the year for the low fee of $189 USD. All you have to do is request an Internal
Exchange at least 15 days prior to your arrival date. This benefit puts you in the driver’s seat and
provides you with the flexibility to reserve the time of year that works best for you and your
family. Call Member Services to learn more about this option and plan your trip back to your
home resort!
* Remember, to take advantage of the $189.00 USD fee, you must let us know up to 12 months
in advance but no less than 15 days before your arrival date.
Internal Exchange requests from 15 days to one day prior to arrival will be subject to a
$249.00 USD fee.
Arrival Confirmation Letter
Your fixed week may be reserved for you and your travel
party. However, it is still important for the resort to know if you are in fact planning to arrive
during your allotted week. By knowing in advance that you are going to use your fixed reservation,
Member Services can make sure everything is prepared and ready to make it the best vacation
yet at your home resort! Check your email for the reservation confirmation. We will take it
from there. If you have changed your email address, please let us know. If you are not planning
on coming, it is even more important to let us know via this confirmation letter. We can explain
your options for retaining your week and using it at another time.
Leap Year Reminder – Don’t forget we are still in a leap year and the dates have moved for the Fixed Week inventory.
Please check your calendars. We want to make sure there are no issues with airline reservations,
extra nights, etc. Member Services can help with all of these details and take the stress out of
planning. You can just prepare yourself to relax and enjoy your home resort.
Solmar Member Meal Plan Option
The meal plan is a very popular option for members who want to kick back and relax upon arriving
at their home resort. The meal plan is also great for those members who attend the theme nights
when they visit as well! Members can customize their vacation by adding the plan for 3 nights,
5 nights or more, so if you have favorite restaurants downtown, you can still enjoy them, and
still save up to 40% while at the resort!
We have recently introduced an exclusive Flex Payment option to the meal plan. Flex Payment
gives members the option of paying for the meal plan in three monthly installments at the
pre-purchase rate. Now it’s even easier to relax and enjoy your stay while saving more.
(Meal plan must be paid in full at least 48 hours prior to check in. A minimum of four nights
or more is required to take advantage of Flex Payment. Three night stays require a different
payment.)

ancho San Lucas Update
Over the last few months, some wonderful progress has been made at Rancho San Lucas.
There is so much happening, and we are working hard to share as much as possible on our
social channels and on our website! Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
to stay up to date with our progress. Some of the most exciting news are happening at the
jewel of Rancho San Lucas; the Greg Norman designed golf course, where we are walking
the land, where the tees, fairways and greens will go, to first rescue all endemic flora. One
of the most important aspects of Rancho San Lucas is the attention to detail and the care in
preserving the local flora and fauna around the golf course, and residences.
One very exciting advancement is that we’ve reached the final planning on the golf course,
that will include an island green on Hole 17 in the tradition of TPC at Sawgrass, this will be
the signature hole and great effort has gone into designing the water feature around it and
the best way to reach the green. It is details like these that make Rancho San Lucas such a
special development; truly showcasing what Baja living is all about.

embership Security Advisory
The scamming continues. And not just here. Over the past few months, scams that have
affected members of timeshare resorts have occurred all over the globe. Through our newsletters, as
well as email communications, we have worked hard to warn members about these scams.
The following points are important to keep in mind to avoid becoming a victim.
• Be cautious of shell companies posing as large, well-known corporations that want to purchase
memberships because their inventories are low. The scammers pose as brokers for travel
giants such as Despegar.Com, Trivago, and even government organizations. They say they
want to assist members sell or rent their timeshares. The real companies have no idea this
is going on! The con artists request that members pay the requisite taxes and a transfer fee.
However, once a member pays, the money is gone and the company never follows through.
These frauds use the credibility of large companies to look legitimate.
• Resale companies also claim to have memberships sold, and by the member simply paying
the taxes, they will release the amount for the membership. Be cautious of these rental/resale
companies as they are requesting wire transfers, which once paid, cannot be disputed or
refunded!
* Security Tip – Watch the email addresses and check the URL of the website very carefully.
If they appear questionable, they are probably scam operators. Be vigilant about what is
requested before sending any money to anyone.
* Also, be vigilant of companies posing as fake banks or consumer protection agencies.
And never, provide them with account details regarding your membership or personal banking
information.
• It is important that members update their contact information with Member Services, including
new email addresses, phone numbers, etc. It is the best way to stay informed about membership
benefits and new scam warnings.

• Notify Member Services immediately if you are contacted with a request to sell your membership.
• You never lose the rights to your membership without signing a transfer of ownership
document, which is directly handled through the Member Services Administration Department. If
you would like to learn more about transfer of ownership, you may address your concerns
and questions to: memberservicesadmin@resortcom.com It is our job to protect your interests
and your investment.
Please keep these tips in mind, and be cautious of scammers. As they continue to evolve and
adapt their scams, we will continue to update members so you can be on the look out and
avoid these con artists.

olmar Foundation Summer Update
Summer is here in Los Cabos. We wanted to take this opportunity to share the accomplishments of
the Solmar Foundation at the halfway point of 2016. In addition to the generous monetary
donations members make at their home resort, our tours have grown in popularity this
year! Members continue to participate in the “Bring a Thing” tour by bringing items such
as clothes, baby formula, diapers, food and more to help someone in need. The tour can be
arranged by the resort concierge and is a great way to see how the donations and the efforts
of our foundation directly impact the community we all love!
Here’s a quick list of our accomplishments so far in 2016.
•More than 10,000 children and family members in need are benefiting from the donations
made this year alone.
•We assist with therapy for the disabled children of Solmar employees.
•Travel expenses have been paid for the children of Solmar employees needing treatment
for major illnesses or ailments such as cancer, diabetes and disabilities.
•Several job training programs have been created to assist the poverty stricken communities of
Los Cabos.
•More than 150 special cases have been provided with assistance this year including food
and clothing donations, orthopedics, school supplies and much more.
•5000 children have been fed throughout the year with nutritious meals at kitchens operated
by the foundation.
These groups have directly benefited from funds donated from the Solmar Foundation.
•Shelter Cabo San Lucas – This shelter helps the homeless and anyone in need of a safe
place to rest.
•Amigos De Los Niños – A charitable organization designed to assist children who have no
access to medical care. ADLN assists with free clinics including ENT, dental, cardio and
vision, along with pediatric cancer care.
•Red Autismo AC – Assisting with training and therapy programs for children with autism.
•Los Niño’s Del Capitan AC – Day care for single mothers.
•Ayudando a Mama AC – Day care for single mothers in San Jose Del Cabo.
•Building Baja’s Future AC - Scholarships offered to Cabo children to attend private schools
and achieve their dreams.
•Fire Department of Los Cabos
•Senior Center in Cabo San Lucas
•Red Cross Cabo San Lucas
•Center for Disabled Children – The new center provides therapy and educational programs.
•Ciclovia Recreativa – This program is designed to create space for children and families
to exercise. For example, closing the main boulevard every Sunday so children can safely
ride bicycles and skateboards under supervision while organized classes take place.
We want to thank you, our members, for your contributions to the foundation. Your generosity
makes everything we have listed possible! Remember, all donations made online are tax
