Introduction

OAK BROOK’S PRIDE – The Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club
The Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club is a retreat beyond
the ordinary in an extraordinary natural setting.
This superb Village-owned facility is secluded on 20
acres of magnificent woodlands…and while the club
is for the exclusive use of members, it has an openmembership policy in which residents & non-residents
are eligible – both a swim membership (with an
optional tennis add-on) and a tennis membership are
offered.
The Club uniquely features three individual pools: the
spacious main swimming pool, the diving well, and
the wading pool for children - all in close proximity
to the delightful Poolside Cafe. With its landscaped
grounds & serene atmosphere, it is ideal for recreation
& poolside enjoyment. The Club also sponsors
a comprehensive youth-program for competitive
swimmers.
For those who are interested in tennis on either a
recreational or a competitive level, the facility has
eight Har-Tru courts and a skilled staff of tennis
professionals at your disposal. There are also many
social and competitive events throughout the season
that can be taken advantage of.
And truly beyond the ordinary, the focal point of the
Bath & Tennis Club is the wood-and-glass architecture
of its spectacular clubhouse. With an elegant countrylodge decor and striking view of the lake & grounds,
this is a memorable setting for meetings, weddings,
and banquets.
TENNIS: Enjoy a spirited match on one of the Bath &
Tennis Club’s eight Har-Tru Clay outdoor courts. And if your
skills need polishing, look to our professional and assistant
professionals for private, semi-private and group tennis
lessons for adults and children alike.
SWIMMING: Make a splash this summer in the Bath &
Tennis Club’s three pools; one for competitive swimming,
one for diving and one for wading. Swim lessons, water
aerobics, a children’s swim team with posted meet dates,
water programs for adults and children, and locker room
facilities are all provided.
BEACH AND POND: Think you have to go visit Chicago’s
beaches for sand and surf? Think again. Directly behind the
Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Clubhouse, members can enjoy
the use of a canoe or pedalboat for a ride on the pond, or
soak up some sun on the sand beach.
VOLLEYBALL: Nothing says summer like a game of sand
volleyball. Check out a ball at the pool check-in desk and
try your hand at spiking the ball past your opponents’
outstretched hands. The court is located near the diving well.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES: Taste-tempting foods and
refreshing beverages are offered at the Poolside Café.
Poolside hours for the season will be: will open 1 hour after
the pool opens and will close one-half hour before the pool
closes.
Please check the hours of the pool with dates and times,
which will reflect the café hours of operations.
NO FOOD OR BEVERAGES PURCHASED OUTSIDE THE
CLUB ARE PERMITTED.
CLUBHOUSE: The Clubhouse is available to rent for private
parties and other special events. For further details or to
make arrangements, call our Private & Corporate Events
office at 630-368-6442.
SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY
At the Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club, we rigorously enforce DuPage County Health Department rules, and impose
general beach and boating rules and regulations. Enforcement helps ensure all individuals using the Club can enjoy
the pool, beach and boating opportunities to their fullest, without serious risk of illness or injury.

the pool!
RACE WITH THE BARRACUDAS! (Ages 6-18 years)
The OBBT Barracudas Swim Team provides a great way to build swim skills, learn about competitive
training, make new friends and have fun while improving swim-times. The experienced coaches emphasize
good technique including starts, turns, and finishes as they incorporate drills and race skills. The focus is on
fun and teamwork while stressing water safety.
This program is for swimmers who have mastered the basics of swim instruction and are ready for a challenge.
Through regular practices and weekly meets, they build skill and chart progress over the season. Our coaches assist
swimmers to expand and refine skills, improve on prior season performance, and be part of a fun and energetic program.
OBBT participates in the Intersuburban Swim Conference (ISC) - the season includes five dual meets during June & July and concludes
with a Conference championship on July 23. NOTE: Swimmers must compete in at least 2 dual meets during the season and must be
available if needed for the conference lineup.
Swimmers train with a practice group based on their experience and/or ability level. Novice swimmers, and swimmers who would benefit
from more basic preparation & support, start out in the Level 1 group before moving into a more advanced competitive training format.
All new and returning swimmers need to be evaluated by the coaching staff and placed in the appropriate Level (1 or 2) prior to beginning
to train with the team. Tryouts will be held in late afternoons during the week of May 31.
LEVEL 1: Level 1 swimmers should be able to swim freestyle with side breathing for at least 15 yards, jump in from the side
and tread water for 10-15 seconds without assistance. Swimmers receive more intensive instruction to build the endurance &
technique necessary for practices at a higher level. Practices are held in the morning.
LEVEL 2: Level 2 swimmers are expected to swim freestyle with side breathing, and backstroke, for a minimum of 25 yards (50
yards for swimmers age 11 and older) unassisted, and to pass water safety & skill tests. Practices focus on building endurance
& competence in all competitive events, including race technique, starts, turns & finishes in individual & relay events. Sets
incorporate interval training for speed development and stroke refinement. Practices are offered in the morning or evening.

JUNIOR LEAGUE (AGES 10-13)
These sessions are designed for juniors who are at least
10 years of age or have a minimum of 2 years golfing
experience. General full-swing introduction, short-game, and
on-course instruction will be included. These sessions build
upon the preceding lesson series (Beginner).
2016 Information Guide
Custom lessons are offered to juniors of all ages and ability
levels. Custom lessons offer the parents the opportunity to
coordinate a small group of juniors as well as the luxury
of flexible scheduling. The parents and Jeff Kawucha will
schedule lesson dates & times that best accommodate the
group’s needs. Lesson plans will be customized based on
group size and experience level. This is a very popular and
successful program for youth golf development. Dates and
times fill quickly.
Junior League is for juniors at least 10 years of age – this
league offers young golfers the opportunity to play golf
in a team format. Players will compete against golfers of
similar ages in a fun scramble format. All players must
have participated in at least 2 years of golf instruction and
have some familiarity with playing golf and being selfsufficient on the golf course. Along with instruction on
swing fundamentals and technique, the coaches will focus
primarily on course etiquette, sportsmanship, team-work,
and pace of play.
