From the Vice-Principal’s Desk…
Welcome back to a brand new Semester. This term will
no doubt be an exciting and colourful one as we
celebrate Racial Harmony Day, KAJA Week and
commemorate Singapore’s 50th year of nationhood.
While we gear towards the many exciting events, I
would like to take a moment to reflect what schooling
will be like for our girls in, CHIJ Kellock, a convent rich
in heritage and tradition. Schooling in an IJ school
should be a meaningful and variegated experience that
builds character and moulds a person for others. The
experience must challenge our girls’ intellect, augment their passion for
learning, nurture their socio-emotional needs, and most importantly anchor
them to a value system that helps them make the right decisions and stand tall
in the face of challenges.
Recognising that every girl is a unique individual with special gift, we strive to
provide a holistic education here at Kellock. Thus our enriched curriculum is
dynamic and responsive, cognizant of the diverse needs and talents of our girls.
Beyond academic achievements, we focus on educating the whole person so
that our girls will develop into a Thinker, Leader and a Person for others with a
strong sense of giving back to society and the nation.
What is of the utmost importance is the process and journey of learning.
Teachable moments and challenging experiences that bring new dimensions of
learning enrich our girls' understanding and grasp of issues in life. We help
every girl grow and be the best that she can be so that she is a person of
positive impact and influence in the community around her. Each teacher and
staff in Kellock is committed to this mission of bringing out the best in each
child so as to prepare our girls for the future with the skills that are needed for
today and tomorrow as they teach and interact with the girls and lead their
CCAs.
We know that at Kellock, it takes a whole community to raise a child. We thank
parents for having the belief in us in delivering the IJ education to your
children. We welcome you, our parents, to our community to continue to
journey with us and be our partners in education as we seek to give our girls
the most meaningful and enriching school experience.

1.2 Safety, Security & Traffic Matters
School Health Screening
The annual School Health Screening will take place in Term 3. The School Health Service Team will
be coming to our school for about two weeks starting from Monday, 24 August onwards. Students
will need to submit their Health Booklets to their respective form teachers for checking before the
visit.
Security
In keeping with school security measures, we urge all visitors (including parents, guardians and
helpers) to register their name at the Security Post before going to the General Office to exchange
for a pass.
School Infrastructure Improvement
A new walking path has been constructed in the students’ favourite Father Barre’s garden to
enhance the safety of our students. We have also replaced all the old ceiling boards, which were
worn out with new ones in the classrooms. Work on the ceiling was done during the June school
holidays so as to not disrupt any on-going lessons.

Traffic Updates
We are happy to announce that the new walking path from Kampong Bahru Road to Bukit Teresa
Road has been constructed. We urge all students and parents walking to school to use the footpath
for their own safety.
LTA carried out the road works improvement for the hump, footpath and the widening of the
junction at Bukit Teresa Road, Kampong Bahru Road and Bukit Purmei in May to enhance the safety
for pedestrians and cars.
1.3 Finance matters
Consolidated Notification/Collection of Payment for School Programmes and Resources
The first consolidated collection of payment for key programmes/supplementary
stationery/learning resources for Semester 1 was in January 2015. The payment made will be for
items that generally involve whole-level participation and use such as:





Worksheets /In-house publications / Workbooks
Other teaching and learning materials /resources
These items are usually subsidised by the school with co-payment from you.

School Visits by Minister of Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat, and
Zonal Director of Schools South, Mrs Ng Ai Lin
CHIJ Kellock is honoured to have Minister of Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat, and Zonal Director of
School South(ZDSS), Mrs Ng Ai Lin, visit us on 21 April and 18 May respectively. The school played
host and the Minister was impressed by our students who confidently gave a brief history of the
school. They were taken around the school and had
engaging and meaningful dialogues with the middle
managers as well as teachers so as to understand the
school better and how they can further support the
school in the provision of a student-centric, values-driven
education for our students. Both visitors left the school
with good impressions after viewing and learning what
CHIJ Kellock is offering to the students today for
tomorrow.

A few words from our pioneer educators …
Can you share with us a memorable experience you had as an
educator during the early years?
Sr. Joan Tay
It’s not a single experience but there are many of them. Of which what I
recall mostly is how much I enjoyed being a teacher back then. I recall
taking my P6 students to the Botanic Gardens for a Science lesson. We
had a lot of fun while learning. I even took the students to Changi beach
for a swim.

give our Kellock girls who are the future pillars of Singapore?

CHIJ Kellock is an all-girls school with a strong mission-driven tradition.
The school motto, “Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty”, is an identity
worn with pride by every Convent girl. The school values crafted and
received along the years comprise Graciousness, Integrity, Respect,
Responsibility, Resilience and Love. Kellock girls should live by these
positive values and emulate the IJ motto in order to build a strong and
resilient Singapore.

How do you think education has evolved over the decades in
Singapore?

Education has undergone significant changes in the last 50 plus years.
The curriculum has become more relevant to local situations. More local
texts and learning materials are being used in schools. The syllabi have
also been trimmed to free more time for interactive group learning under
the ‘Teach less, Learn more’ initiative. Thinking and process skills have
replaced age-old rote learning and regurgitation of mere facts or figures.
Banding and streaming of pupils have enabled pupils to progress at their
own pace. The digital age has also revolutionised teaching and learning in
the classrooms. Pupils are now onto E-learning and assignments via the
internet. Gone are the days of the age-old ‘Chalk and Talk’ and copious
copying and cyclostyling of notes and spoon-feeding. Pupils are now
engaged in more independent learning and research on the Net. This
augurs well for the future of a new generation of pupils.

How do you think Singapore will be like in the future?
The pioneers set Singapore on its path of development and transformed
the lives of the whole population through their courage and resilience.
The new generation needs to emulate the courage and resilience in order
to maintain a strong Singapore. Our Kellock girls should remember and
learn from our traditional values and strive to take Singapore forward.

The success of these events would not have been possible without the strong support from our
Kellock Parents Support Group (PSG). Through meticulous planning and commitment, our parent
volunteers greatly enhanced the learning experiences for our students by setting up sweet potato
stall to educate students on food rationing during TDD and having a meaningful and vibrant IFD
carnival to introduce our students to the myriad of cultures from around the world.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Kellock PSG who has been supporting us for all
these events. CHIJ Kellock places importance and value on its partnership with our parents and we
look forward to future collaborations with our Kellock PSG for the rest of the year.
We are also pleased to announce that the Hongbao donation drive that was carried out earlier in
the year amounted to a grand total of $5,398.75. The collection will be channelled to St Joseph’s
Home for the Aged and to support the school’s Student Welfare Programme.

Racial Harmony Day 21 July 2015
On 21 July 2015, we will be commemorating Racial Harmony Day (RHD). The theme this year is
Harmony in Our Hands. It has been 50 years since independence and we have been enjoying
harmony in Singapore through the years. The younger generation now has a big role to play in
determining if Singapore continues to enjoy harmony for years to come.
Exciting activities have been lined up for students to deepen their understanding of racial harmony
in Singapore:




A series of pre-assembly talks will be conducted during Racial Harmony week to help
students understand the importance of making friends with people of other races and
religions. Students will learn that everyone is treated equally regardless of one’s race and
religion in Singapore and we should appreciate the different cultures that make up
Singapore.
The Learning Connections (TLC), which promotes arts education in primary schools, will be
presenting a special assembly programme on Racial Harmony Day, titled, “The Town Mouse
and The Country Mouse” which highlights the story of how two mice learn about the
importance of understanding, respect and appreciating each other’s culture. The story
teaches perspective taking, empathy, integrity and respect for others.
Our Kellock PSG will also be setting up traditional game stations during recess on Racial
Harmony Day, to relive the kampong spirit which is fostered through games such as
Chapteh, Kuti Kuti and Five stones. All students are encouraged to wear ethnic costumes of
any races on Racial Harmony Day (21 July) to promote the message of building harmony in
Singapore.
Racial Harmony Day activities will lead up to Games Day where students will have the
added opportunity to apply their learning on respecting friends of other races as they
interact with their peers in their multi-racial teams during the games.
4.2 Creative Arts and Holistic Health Education Depts. by HOD/CA &
HHE, Miss Mary Soh and SH/PE & CCA, Miss Chan Wen Hui
Holistic Health Education @ Kellock
At CHIJ Kellock, the Holistic Health Education Department aims to nurture thoughtful and reflective
learners who are physically active and competent in movement. We believe that through our
vibrant PE lessons, CCAs and activities/events, students will develop character, confidence and
resilience, empowering them to advocate the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle
in others.
P3 SwimSafer Programme (March – May 2015)
Spanning over a period of 2 months, our P3 students had been
splashing around and making waves at Delta Swimming
Complex during their weekly P3 SwimSafer Programme. This
SwimSafer programme, woven into the PE curriculum,
develops water confidence in our students and equips them
with water survival skills. By the end of the programme,
students were awarded a SwimSafer stage completion
certificate corresponding to their swimming ability.

28th Southeast Asian Games (5 – 16 June 2015)
After a 22-year long hiatus, the SEA Games was once again held
in Singapore from 5 June to 16 June 2015. In a bid to usher in
the games, our students

Values @ Play 4: Be the Change Today! (24 July 2015)
In conjunction with Racial Harmony Day, our annual Games Day, Values @ Play 4: Be the change
Today!, will be held on 24 July 2015, Friday, from 7.30a.m. to 11.00a.m. The theme for Racial
Harmony Day, Harmony in our Hands, will be played out during the various games which are
centred on the 5 values of Friendship, Integrity, Respect, Resilience and Excellence. To celebrate
the nation’s 50th birthday, we are inviting P3 and P4 students to submit photographs of themselves
exercising with their grandparents. This aims to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for both
our pioneer and younger generations. It also provides a platform for bonding and interaction
between grandparents and granddaughters. These photos will be combined to form a photo
montage which will be screened on Games Day as a tribute to the pioneer generation.
On Games Day, P1 to P4 students are to come in their PE attire while P5 and P6 students are to
come in their PE attire and pinafore. As part of the house celebrations, students will be allowed to
wear accessories of their house colours. Your daughter will need to bring a healthy snack and a
bottle of water as the canteen will not be in operation that day.
The necessary transport arrangements for your child will also need to be made if she does not take
the school bus as students will be dismissed at 11.00a.m.
The Arts @ Kellock
The vibrant Arts culture in CHIJ Kellock enables our students to experience varied art forms. The
various exhibition and performance platforms provide our students to share with their peers their
learning from the broad-based Arts curriculum which is offered in CHIJ Kellock. Through these
experiences, students develop the school values of Graciousness, Integrity, Respect, Responsibility,
Resilience and Love, as well as self-confidence and team-spirit. With the cultivation of these values
and the knowledge content related to the Arts, our students are empowered to lead and make a
difference to others through the Arts.

A New Art Gallery
The existing art gallery outside the General Office has been extended
so as to give the students an avenue to showcase their art pieces
created via different medium. Students also have the opportunity to
view what their peers are learning in the other levels. The extended
art gallery definitely adds vibrancy to the existing Arts culture.
Recess Performances
In April and May, our P4 and P6 students staged recess performances for their peers. The students
had to work very closely as a team to put up the performances. To ensure a good class performance,
students had to be responsible and resilient when faced with difficulty in learning the music or the
dance steps. Their peers were thrilled and rendered all the performers with rousing applause to
show their appreciation of the effort put in by them. Both the performers and audience enjoyed the
recess performance experiences.

Kellock’s Arts Jamboree (KAJA) – (13 - 16 July 2015)
An exciting array of Arts-related workshops was conducted for our students, their parents and
grandparents in Kellock’s annual Arts Festival. Kellock’s Arts Jamboree (KAJA) celebrated the Arts
of our Cultural Diversity and was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about the
importance of racial harmony through the Arts. During the week-long Arts Jamboree, our students
were treated to exciting performances by their peers in Kellock Superstars, were able to participate
in art competitions and learnt a traditional Malay art form. As part of our effort to create bonding
time for the family, the Kellock PSG worked very closely together with the department to source for
after school Arts-related workshops that were family oriented so that our students could
participate in these workshops with their parents and/or grandparents.

4.3 Student Management Dept. by HOD/PW Mrs Hannah Yuen
Student Leadership @ Kellock
Kellock believes that every student has the potential to be developed as a leader as she possesses
her own unique abilities and talents. Based on this belief, the department aims to develop and
nurture every student to be a leader. Every student can and should strive to contribute positively
and make a difference within her sphere of influence.
The school has put in place a leadership structure in actualising our aim of nurturing every student
to be a leader. This structure begins with leadership opportunities and development offered to all
students in class in the form of class roles and leadership 101 learning package. This customised
leadership 101 package is developed to provide training in the three domains: personal, team and
thought leadership for all our students. Other student leaders like the prefects, the National
Education (NE) ambassadors, Co-curricular Activities (CCA) leaders and the Prefect Executive
Committee meet up regularly for school-based training and they receive on-the-job training from
their teachers-in-charge as well. Assignments such as school duties and events are purposefully
assigned to these student leaders to hone their leadership skills. It is our vision to see that our
students are strongly anchored in the school values, are able to lead by example and possess the
moral courage to stand up for what is right.
Leadership Development: Prefects’ Investiture
The Prefects’ Investiture was held on 31 March 2015 to install the appointed prefects in the school.
Sister Joan Tay was the guest-of-honour for our ceremony. This year, a total of 85 prefects from P4
to P6 were installed. These prefects were selected for their leadership qualities, responsibilities and
compassion towards their teachers and friends. The executive committee comprises Maizah
Tauqeer of P6 Acacia (Head prefect), Shyanne Seah of
P6 Angsana (Vice-head Prefect), Martina Aquaro of P6
Acacia, Arshia Bansal of P6 Acacia and Clarebelle Lim
of P5 Daisy. The ceremony was witnessed by the
supportive parents of the prefects, students, teachers
and school leaders. The prefects pledged their
commitment to the school and they received their

Women in Leadership
Women in Leadership is an assembly programme helmed by our student leaders to pay tribute to
the women leaders in Singapore who have made outstanding contributions towards Singapore’s
development. This platform aims to inspire all students to become leaders who can help push the
boundaries yet always remain rooted to a set of core values. NE ambassadors shared on women
leaders in the political arena; the prefects shared on women leaders in the fields of medicine, law,
humanitarian efforts, business and enterprise whilst the CCA leaders shared on women leaders in
the sports and creative arts.
Camps for Life
P2 Friendship Day Camp
Acknowledging the potential of camps in providing teacher-student interaction time, and authentic
learning opportunities for students to acquire life skills and build resilience, the P2 students had
their camping experience on 12 February 2015. The theme of the Day Camp was Friendship. It was
also a platform for the integration of other subjects such as English and Art. Students from the six
P2 classes had to do pre-camp preparation. During their English lessons, students designed
invitation cards to invite their friends from other classes to this Friendship Day Camp. During their
Art lessons, students created party hats to be worn on the day of the camp. The students in each
class were arranged in groups of 5 or 6 and each group was allocated a specific classroom for their
teambuilding games. In this way, they made friends with students of the other classes. The camp
ended on a high note with a mass level game. Overall, the P2 students learnt what it meant to work
together to achieve group goals and most importantly, they made new friends and showed care and
consideration for one another.
P3 Bonding Camp Ignite VI
P3 Bonding Camp Ignite VI was a successful Camp-for-Life programme organised on Thursday, 12
March 2015. The activities were held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens and in our school. The camp
was specially planned to allow the students to foster strong friendship bonds with their present
classmates. Students took part in various station games. Through these games, students learnt to
work collaboratively with their friends and show care and consideration for one another. The
students were also led on a tour of the National Orchid Garden. They explored the beautiful and
diverse orchids at the garden. In the evening, students showcased their talents through a class
cheer and performed an arts item during the campfire.

The strong support from the parent volunteers enlisted to facilitate the team-building games as
well as to lead the students in the preparation for the campfire was a key attribute to the success of
the camp. It was a great partnership between the school and our stakeholders.

P5 Adventure Camp
The P5 students had a wonderful learning experience at their Teambuilding camp from 9 to 11
March at the MOE Labrador Adventure Campsite.
Students had the opportunity to try their hands at abseiling, rock-climbing and to attempt the high
rope challenge and low elements activities. During the camp, students displayed teamwork and
showed resilience to achieve goals that they had set for themselves. Despite their fears and
obstacles, the students showed perseverance and determination to overcome them.

The camp culminated with a campfire on the second night where classes presented their items.
The activities and reflection sessions presented many opportunities for the students to learn and
display the Kellock values and to be a thoughtful learner, servant leader and a person for others.
4.4 Information Communication Technology (ICT) Dept.
by HOD/ICT (covering) Ms Adela Chua
In CHIJ Kellock, we believe in the power of technology as a key enabler in transforming teaching
and learning. Anchored in this belief, the ICT Department aims to enrich students’ learning
environment and equip them with the necessary competencies to succeed in the 21st century.
Leveraging on technology will empower students with knowledge, skills and values. These would
enable students to become critical thinkers as well as confident, self-directed and connected
learners who will ultimately contribute to society and the nation to make a difference.
ICT Skills Training Programme
All P1 to P6 students undergo a baseline ICT Skills Training Programme where they learn basic ICT
skills such as word processing and the use of spreadsheets. Students are also given opportunities to
apply their skills through various platforms ranging from the creation of an e-poster to a
PowerPoint presentation. These baseline skills enable them to take on challenges of an evolving ICT
landscape as they progress on to a higher level of education.
Learning Management System
By integrating rich multimedia content with intuitive features, our school leverages on the MC
Online Education Learning Management System to provide a more holistic approach towards
teaching and learning for our students. With online collaborative tools such as the social learning
wall that support collaboration beyond the classroom, students are able to work in teams to
contribute ideas and work towards a common goal. In addition, the repository of curriculum-based
digital content that can be readily accessed by the students enhances self-directed learning which
can take place both within and outside curriculum time.

The Use of Mobile Technology
Beyond providing a way to engage our technologically-savvy students, the department enriches
students’ learning with opportunities to acquire and apply skills of the new digital age. Students
enjoy a rich and engaging learning environment that facilitates learning on-the-go. Mobile
technologies such as i-Pads and online collaborative platforms like the iMTL portal are used to
provide innovative educational experiences to transform students into self-directed learners of the
21st century.
SG50 Celebration: Photography Competition
In celebration of Singapore’s 50th birthday, the ICT Department has organised a photography
competition for all students. To help our students develop an awareness, understanding and
appreciation of The Singapore Story, students have been asked to submit photographs which centre
on the theme of Celebrating the Present for the competition. For more details of the competition,

Assessment Matters
In Term 3, P6 students will be having their Preliminary Examination. PSLE Oral will also be
conducted in Term 3 and PSLE Listening Comprehension Examination is on Week 1 of Term 4.

6. Happenings @ Kellock
Academic Achievements
Wits and Words English Debate Competition
A team of students, comprising Megan Chow Yin Yin and Feodora Lee Yu Tian from P5 Hibiscus and
Jamie Tan Hui Lin, Sofie Althea Salamat Gonzales and Deborah Ann Ng Fong Ling from P5 Lily,
represented the school at the annual Wits and Words Inter-school Debate Competition 2015 jointly
organised by the Ministry of Education, Debate Association (Singapore) and Nanyang Girls’ High
School. This event aims to provide students with a platform to actively develop oral communication
skills and an early foundation in the art of persuasion. We are pleased to announce that our team
emerged third in the zone for Division 2. Deborah Ann Ng Fong Ling from P5 Lily was also
awarded the Good Speaker Award for Division 2. Well done girls!
7th National Chinese News Production Competition
With the guidance of our Chinese Language teachers, Lim Qian Ru Clarabelle and Zoe Kwah from P5
Daisy and Alexis Pang Shi Rong and Yang Zhen from P5 Hibiscus created a 2 minute news report
video for the National Chinese News Production Competition. This is the third year of our
participation and the video was based on the theme of our school’s Mother Tongue Fortnight which
was aligned to SG50. Once again, our students have done Kellock proud as they clinched the GOLD
award for the primary category. Great work, girls!
West Zone Junior Science Whiz Challenge Inter-Primary School Science Quiz
A group of students represented the school in the West Zone Junior Science Whiz Challenge InterPrimary School Science Quiz in Term 2. The team, comprising Arshia Bains, Shyanne Seah, Teresa
Liau, Kiersten Yeo, Madeline Yap and Jane Ho Jia Wen from P6 Angsana, came in 8th in the team
event. In addition, Jane Ho Jia Wen was the top 11th-20th individual scorer in the written event.

National level in Term 1 & 2. We would like to acknowledge the effort and commitment of all the
students who represented the school in Artistic Gymnastics, Netball, Rhythmic Gymnastics and

CCA – Performing and Visual Arts
CHIJ Kellock believes in being part of the bigger community outside school and our Performing and
Visual Arts groups, through their respective art forms, participated in three community events.
A Music Man for All Times: Iskandar Ismail (1956 – 2014)
The choir represented CHIJ Kellock to show our respect and appreciation to Singapore’s Cultural
Medallion recipient, the late Mr Iskandar Ismail, at a special
memorial concert held on 23 January 2015 at the Esplanade Concert
Hall. The late Mr Iskandar Ismail had been a special friend to CHIJ
Kellock and we had benefitted from the generosity of his talent. Mr
Iskandar was the composer of the theme song for our 45th
Anniversary Musical ‘The Little Blue Pinafore’ and he also provided
a brand new arrangement to our school song. At this special concert,
the choir presented Mr Iskandar’s composition, First Light and
joined in the singing of the finale song, A World to Imagine, the
theme song for ChildAid Singapore.

Radin Mas SMC and Tanjong Pagar GRC Chinese New Year Dinner
Our school’s Chinese Dancers added colour to the
Lunar New Year festivity for the residents of Radin
Mass SMC and Tanjong Pagar GRC. The dinner was
held at Shelton International College on 26 February
2015. The Chinese Dancers presented a lively piece
depicting young people riding across the vast
pastures, celebrating youth and vitality. The 1300
audience rendered our performers with rousing
applause, showing their appreciation to our
performers.
Community Art Project in conjunction with SEA Games 2015
A group of P4 students from Congea and
Clematis participated in the creation of an
installation artwork together with 30 other
schools and the general community. The creative
artwork entitled Raising the Bar, designed by Ms
Didier Ng and Mr Darren Tan, aims to inspire in
the girls the values of recycling. Participants of
the
project
created
smiley faces
using recyclable items and these faces represented the different
races in Singapore and the people of Southeast Asian countries.
This project allowed our students to experiment with different
materials and art-making techniques. Kellock’s smiley face is
known as, Miss Goldie Sunshine.
Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 2015 Art Exhibition
The key objectives of the art exhibition are to celebrate students’ artistic efforts and achievements,
and, providing the opportunity to promote art appreciation among students and the public. The
theme for this year’s SYF Art Exhibition is Artist: Past. Present. Future. As a group, the students
were encouraged to draw links to the Past, Present and Future of Singapore and present their ideas
of how this link would look like through the group’s expressive and creative artwork. This year, the
school submitted one piece of art work for each of the three categories. The two ceramic pieces
from mid- and upper-primary students had been selected for exhibition at Raffles City Shopping
Mall from 8 - 19 July onwards whilst the P2 students’ pop-up art would be showcased online.

One of the absolute pleasures of PSG volunteering is
seeing our Kellock girls smiling, learning and giggling
with delight. The icing on the cake is seeing parent
volunteers doing the same thing!
Through PSG activities this past term we learned,
laughed and bonded with our girls. And in the second
half of the school year, there will be many more
opportunities. I invite you to share in this precious time
with our daughters. They’re worth it!
10.04.15 International Friendship Day
A record 58 parent volunteers (WOW!) helped put on a successful
celebration of cultures during International Friendship Day. Nine
booths featured Indonesia, Japan, India, United States, Australia,
Canada, France, Italy and Tibet. There were
games (Indonesian game, Japanese game),
quizzes (Australia, USA) and even a fashion
parade by the parents. The girls received a stamp
for each booth they visited, and a little prize for
collecting stamps from all the booths. IFD was a
massive effort in terms of time and coordination
– a big THANK YOU to all the parents who helped
out this year. Special thanks to Celine Abueg and Jackie Sanichara for
coordinating this inspiring and fun event for the girls! And to Eddy
Huang who took absolutely gorgeous photographs. View them on our website under “PSG

Hot on the heels of the Valentine’s Day Sale
success, parent volunteers were hard at work
making beautiful, fun gifts for the PSG’s
Mothers’ Day Sale this year.
Headed by a talented trio of
parents – Puja, Karen and Yen our ‘crafty’ parents made over
1,000 gorgeous gifts for sale.

And this year, materials for all the items were generously sponsored by parents! 100% of
funds collected from the sale will go towards the Sponsor-A-Child Fund. Our heartfelt
thanks for supporting this!!
25.4.15 FamilyMatters@School for Fathers ~ Launch Day – Clay Art Workshop
Dads, you rock! There was an overwhelming response to our
first-ever activity organised just for fathers, the
FamilyMatters@School (‘FM@S’) for Fathers Clay Art
workshop. Collaborating with FM@S, the PSG co-organized
this father-daughter session where nearly 40 dads balloted
for 23 spots at the workshop. They created gorgeous clay
plaques as Mothers’ Day gifts. The room was abuzz as these daddies
and daughters lovingly rolled, cut and shaped their clay messages. What
wonderful bonding for fathers and their girls!
Thank You to the five dads who stepped forward to form the Dads for Life sub-committee,
tasked with planning activities to encourage more interaction between fathers and

New School Sign-in Process for Parent Volunteers
As part of enhanced security measures at Kellock, the PSG is required
to submit in advance the names of parents coming to school to
volunteer. These parents are required to sign-in at the guard house
and wear a “PSG Parent Volunteer” pass while they are volunteering
on school grounds. We seek your cooperation – please ensure you have
given your name in advance to the coordinating PSG member. As a
reminder, parent volunteers are expected to stay on the ground floor so as not to disrupt
classes.

01.07.15 - Kellock PSG Parent Volunteer Day
As parent volunteers, we have been superbusy in the first semester.
A well-deserved R&R during the June holidays certainly energized us
for the next semester. Kellock PSG Parent Volunteer Day was
organized for parent volunteers to socialize and learn about what
would be in store for the second half of the year. More volunteers
were recruited for activities in Terms 3 and 4 and the day ended off
with a potluck brunch!
Parent Volunteer Day recognizes YOUR efforts in helping to enrich

13.07.15 – 15.07.15 Kellock Arts Jamboree ~ KAJA
Unique to Kellock, this was a fun-filled, enriching week of afterschool workshops designed to broaden horizons and nourish
creativity. After a 1-year hiatus, KAJA was back and workshops
were planned and conducted with the help of the PSG. This
year’s theme – Harmony in Our Hands - is connected to the
theme for Racial Harmony Day 2015. Workshops conducted
included: black and white photography, popiah-making,
Fashion – Now and Then and many more!
