FRIENDLY people are excited
to meet new people, appear
approachable to friends and
acquaintances, and are the kind
of people who can just start
chatting with a person on an
airplane, in line at the drugstore,
or when they’re stuck on the
bus. Being FRIENDLY is all
about making people feel comfortable—like you actually like
talking to them. So how can we
pull off being FRIENDLY?
Smile more!
You don’t have to give every
person you see a huge grin to be
more FRIENDLY. However,
making a goal to smile more on a
daily basis will make you look
much more approachable.
Have open body language!
If you want people to feel you’re
approachable and open to talking
to them, you have to master
open body language like:
Have good posture instead
of slouching
Keep your arms at your
sides instead of crossing
them
Lean forward toward other
people
Drop the distractions!
Another way to be
FRIENDLIER is to notice
everything that’s going on around
you. If you’re tapping away at
your phone, burying your nose
in a book, or staring at your
computer, then people will think
you have better things to do than

Work on making as much eye
contact as possible with people
you’re talking to so that they feel
like you care about them and that
they’re actually worth your time.
Laugh easily!
Make an effort to laugh more!
Laughing more will not only give
your conversations more of a
positive vibe, but the people
around you ~ even the people
who are just walking by ~ will see
you as a more FRIENDLY person.
When you are FRIENDLY to
people, they will want to be
friends with you.

CUB COMMENTARY
We barely pack
away the Christmas lights before
we begin to see
Valentine hearts,
cards, and candy
showing up in the
stores! It seems
we are in such a
hurry to finish one
event and then,
lickity-split, we are
on to the next!
However, in February, I would
like to slow down, pause, and
reflect on II Corinthians 13—
”The Love Chapter” - “Love
is kind, Love is patient”! Am
I showing kindness and
patience to others? What
am I envious of, or what am
I boasting about? Have I been
rude or angry or keeping a
record of other’s wrongs
towards me?
I pray that I am able to rejoice
with the truth, that I will
always trust, hope and
persevere in the
work the Lord has
for me to do.
In the midst of Valentine
hearts, cards and candy,
may you take a moment
to pause and reflect on
II Corinthians 13 before the
day and month has passed,
and the green of St. Patrick’s
Day starts appearing on
store shelves!

FIRST GRADE CUBS
Mrs. Hamann’s 21 first graders
have been having a great year!
On November 3rd they visited the
Paine Field Fire Department.
What an amazing day learning
about fire safety! First, the students watched a plane land on the
runway by the firehouse. Next,
they met Captain Mace. The students had fun as Captain Mace
showed them around the fire
station. The first graders were
amazed to learn that fire men
actually live at the fire station!
They watched as firemen raced to
see who could put on all the fire
gear the fastest. The winning time
was a very impressive 30 seconds!
We are so thankful for our fire-
men; they work hard every day!
December 11th the class hosted a
Movie Night, showing “Ratatouille”.
The class had so much fun that they
want to plan another movie night
sometime in the spring.

year the two first grade classes
have participated in the pen pal
project, and it’s always a huge hit!
We look forward to their Chapel
with us on April 28th.
What’s more fun than making more
friends? The first
graders have been
writing letters to
their pen friends
at the Cedar Park
Mill Creek campus
since January,
which has really
helped them to
not only hone
their writing skills,
but to learn about

including all Early Childhood & Daycare (Preschool & PreKindergarten) programs, will follow the announcements for the
Edmonds School District. You can also l
listen to these RADIO & TV stations:
KCMS (105.3FM), KCIS (630AM),
KIRO (710AM), KING (98.1FM),
KOMO (1000AM).
When school opens more than one hour late, there will be NO
morning Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten. When the
Edmonds School District announces school closure due to
inclement weather, Cedar Park-Lynnwood Elementary
AND Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten/Childcare will also be
closed. If there is no announcement, school will be open.

CUB YEARBOOK
You have an exciting and unique opportunity to create 2 custom pages
exclusively for your child's yearbook! Capture memories from the past
year just for them, and only printed in their book. It's all up to you.
To get started on these pages, you'll need to log in to our yearbook
company's website and create an account. The information attached
walks you through how to do this step by step, and has our school's
unique code.
Once you have an account you can upload photos from class parties,
field trips and other school activities to the shared gallery for the yearbook team to use! You can also upload photos to your account for use
only on your 2 custom pages.
Would you please also let our yearbook editor, Nona Davenport, know
that you would like the extra pages option? If you have any questions or
concerns, please direct them to Nona at nonapearl@firebin.net.
All orders for yearbooks will need to be done by you
online—the cost is $20 per yearbook.

CPCS-LYNNWOOD BOOK FAIR &
LOOSE CHANGE DRIVE
The doors to the ’Kingdom of Books’ will be
open for sales February 22 through March 4.
Our Scholastic BOOK FAIR will be packed with
books children want to read. Our teachers love
the BOOK FAIR, too, because it’s a great
opportunity to add to their classroom library.
Calling all Knights and Princesses! Come to
school dressed in our medieval theme (dress
code still applies) on Wednesday, February
24th, and receive a free gumball. Attend our
BOOK FAIR NIGHT with your child to help in
the selection of books on Thursday, February
25th. Enter the family event contest for a
chance to win $25 in books for your family and
$25 in books for your child’s classroom.
The castle doors stay open until 7:30pm.
Loose Change Drive also begins February
22nd and ends March 18th, 9am sharp.
The library’s only source of income is from
these two events. Our students and
families appreciate the benefits of current
fiction, non-fiction and biographies. All of
our earnings from the Scholastic BOOK
FAIR and LOOSE CHANGE DRIVE go
directly to benefit our campus library.
We accept cash, checks, debit and credit
cards for BOOK FAIR payment. Tax
receipts for Loose Change Drive donations
are available on request.

ONLINE 2016-2017
ENROLLMENT BEGINS
Reenrollment for 2016-17 begins on
February 1st. This is a great time for
you to reserve your child’s spot for
next year! The early reenrollment
registration fee per student is $110 by
2/29/16. After 2/29/16 it increases to
$160 per student.
TALENT SHOW
This is a fun evening in which we get
to enjoy the different talents of our
students. Please plan on joining us at
6:30pm on Tuesday, February
2nd in the multipurpose
room.
LYNNWOOD OPEN HOUSE
Our Open House is coming soon—Tuesday,
February 2nd. Be thinking of who you can
invite for this informative evening, 7-8:30pm
(see attached flyer).
