Whole-y Hogg
You have heard of Holy Cow? Well,
now it is Whole-y Hogg. Yes, sir and yes,
ma'am we are taking this pparty to the Hogg.
Kenny Weber and his band of brothers will have
the hog a-cook'n for the 35th anniversary shindig on October 12th at Harbor Hills. This will
be quite the event with lots of ski buds, as well
as a ton of food. We are expecting up to 150
members and former members in attendance.
There will be a commemorative shirts with the
new 35th anniversary logo emblazoned on. You
may want to contact Roy Berman to order yours.
But don't forget to wear any of your NSC garb!
We would like you to make a statement...and
that statement is that you are proud to be a
member of one of the funnest clubs around!!!
And keep your pants on- yes Mark, I'm talking
about you- the At Larges, Tom and Roy, tell us
that with this turnout, this is going to be a record
setting 50/50 drawing. Yes guys, instead of the
normal arm length, I want to buy two lengths to
double down. What a HOOT. And wait, there is
more! The committee chair person, Mike
Schrider, tells me that the Newark Advocate
will be there to take pictures for the newspaper.
This could be your 15 minutes of fame. Then, of
course … Deb? You could also get on the front
page by driving a school bus off the Y-bridge.
Not!!!
Shirts, friends, fun, food, ...what did I
leave out? Oh yes, Harbor Hills will provide a
cash bar and has given us an absolute guarantee
that they will not run out of beer or wine. They
have got us covered with liquid refreshment.
There is no charge for the food so come hungry.
Golf is also available at Harbor Hills prior to the
Pparty. And as always, the FUN starts when you
get there.
Winter Heat
I remember watching my very first ski
video. I am sure that all of us remember our very
first :) It was produced by the K2 Ski Company
back in the early 70's and was shown in the summer. After watching it, you could not wait for
winter. It t is getting to be that time already. This
is a must do- see Pam Spires so that you can sign
up for the Learn to Ski Better Program. She will
be at the next meeting and will have answers for
all your questions. The early discount deadline is
quickly approaching and Matt, the treasurer, always recommends that you sign up early so that
you can save that cash to buy more wine during
the après-ski. Another must see person is Bob
Wirick who will be taking your deposit to hold
your reservation for Lake Tahoe. This is turning
out to be a trip of a lifetime. The sights of looking over Lake Tahoe while you ski down a majestic mountain, having a beer with your BFF's,
and smiling all the while... now that's what I call
Winter Heat.

Annual Halloween Party
Membership Birthdays
at Debbie & Matt McBride’s Haunted
House on Turner Rd
November 2, 2013 at 6PM
As you pass through the rusting gates
that guard this house of the dead, you
may notice an apparition of Dracula
peering out from the upstairs window. A
chill runs up your back as you realize‘Something is very odd with this house’.
The disembodied souls of the thousands
of victims of Tuberculosis who died
across the street at the Sanitarium
make their presence known on these
grounds. You pass through the grim
gateway of the cemetery; shock grips
you as you witness the macabre mist
that hovers over the graves…
All are invited to our Annual Halloween Party & are encouraged to come in
costume, but are "welcomed" in normal
attire nonetheless. Bring a covered dish
or dessert to share, and an adult beverage of your choice. Some beverages will
be provided, as well as Matt's latest
beer on offer. The campfire will roar encircled by the infamous straw bale
'couches' of yore. Bring your own camp
chair if you dare.

ACTIVITIES PLANNING
MEETING
Put in your 2¢’s worth!
An Activities Planning Meeting will be held
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 5 PM
at Mike and Daryl Shrider’s home
769 Harlech Drive, Newark
The purpose of the meeting is to involve the larger membership in
generating fresh ideas for future club activities. This is your opportunity to have input in planning trips and club activities. The NSC
is all about fun and friendship; we want to offer activities that will
get people out enjoying themselves and each other’s company. Put
on your thinking cap - get creative - or propose a favorite oldie! It
can be a day activity or a week long adventure, a ski trip or something entirely different. Everyone is invited to participate, but we’d
like to know if you plan to attend so we can plan appropriately.
We’ll provide a main dish and ask those attending to bring a side
dish, snack or dessert and BYOB please. Call or email if you plan
to attend at 740-344-3242 or mikedarylshrider@roadrunner.com
Please specify the Planning Mtg.—
thanks!
HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
HEY EVERYBODY!!! It’s that time again! We need items for the Sh-Sh-Sh-ilent Auction to be held
at the Annual Christmas Party on December 3rd. Tom & Roy have already collected a great line-up of
donations, but we would also like to see what you can come up with this year. If you have something
which would help make this event even better than last year’s, please contact the Directors-At-Large:
either Tom Brubaker at 740-403-8813 or mjk2432@yahoo.com or Roy Berman at 740-847-8042 or
roybermanrt@yahoo.com. Help us make this club fundraiser even better than it was last year (and that
is saying something!). Remember, 10% of what we raise is donated to TAASC– The Adaptive Adventure
Sports Coalition to help individuals with disabilities get the opportunity to participate in adventure activities. So, what are you donating to the cause?!?
