Sky Wrap Scarf - Knitter Ditter
Sky Wrap Scarf
This wrap could almost be called “Mistake Wrap.” I was at my LYS one night and
admired the wrap one of the ladies was wearing. I ended up buying the lovely yarn,
Schaefer Laurel in the Susan Sontag colorway. I was given the pattern, which was
handwritten on a post-it note. The repeat was very simple. I started working it right
away, and decided that this couldn’t be the correct pattern. As I remembered, the ribs
were much thicker and what was coming out looked a lot like a mesh shopping bag.
Really, there’s no accounting for the twists and turns of my brain!
What I finally came up with after much frogging and fretting was largely based on a
stitch pattern I found on the internet. The pattern is called Lacey Diagonals. I modified it
to look more like the picture in my mind. I added an extra stitch in the rib to make it as
substantial as I remembered. I didn’t stagger the yarn overs, so the ribs run straight and
the ends are slanted.
This is wide enough to wear as a wrap to keep your shoulders warm or you can wear it
as a scarf. I called it “Sky Wrap” because of the way the color variations look like clouds
in the sky.
