Director’s Spotlight
Greetings from the 460th FSS! May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.
Regular physical activity is good for everyone’s health. Here at Buckley AFB there
are an abundance of activities and resources to help you meet your fitness goals.
If you need guidance or motivation our Fitness Center has a top rate staff
available to help. This month we are spotlighting a new Fitness Center staff
member who brings impressive credentials and great passion for his profession.
Please join me in welcoming Russ Oliver to Team Buckley!
Mr. Albert Woolley, Director
Name: Russ Oliver
Title: Recreation Assistant
Time at Buckley: 3 months
Tell us a little about your background and experience
I was an AF squadron trainer for 12 years and I continued to pursue that profession
after leaving the military. I recently moved here from Florida where I was working
at the YMCA as the lead fitness trainer, lead floor trainer and lead personal trainer. I
supervised 25 trainers and created their profiles to give members a good idea of who
would be a good match for their needs. I’m a Certified Master Trainer in many areas
including bodybuilding, MMA, swimming, cycling, martial arts, military boot camp,
fire school and police academy training. I’m also a certified rehab specialist and I’m
currently getting recertified in National Academy Sports Medicine.
Why did you come to Buckley AFB?
Colorado is my home and I’ve been trying to get to Buckley for more than two years. I just wanted to give back to the
military. It is great to be on an Air Force Base again.
What drew you to this career field?
I’ve been an athlete since I was 7 years old. I just never quit. I’ve been in baseball, soccer, gymnastics, track, water
skiing and martial arts. I became involved in martial arts for the military. I was an undefeated kickboxer for 4 years,
but I walked away because I decided what I really wanted to be was a trainer.
What does your job at Buckley entail?
I do a lot of fitness training for the squadrons. I lead some of the group classes and I also do a lot of one-on-one training.
What motivates you to stay fit?
I’m motivated by those mountains out there! I enjoy hiking, mountain climbing, and biking. I ride a bike anytime I can.
I also work out a lot. It is just a way of life for me.

of the Month
What motivates you to stay fit?
SSgt Amber Adams
“Music inspires me to workout. I also enjoy getting out in Colorado and doing
runs with my friends. We have sunny, beautiful weather and there
are always pick-up games and other things to do.”
Capt Steve Loos
“I stay fit so that my soldiers have a decent example to follow.”
Command Chief Brian Kruzelnick
“My entire family! I have three young children, a wife, and an installation
of Airmen counting on me. I need to make sure I’m taking care of myself so
that I can help them all reach important milestones in their lives and
careers, and be there to celebrate their success. The only way I can be
part of that is to maintain my fitness and healthy eating habits.”
Sgt O’Roark
