School Age Program 720-847-9206, Bldg 351 Youth Program 720-847-9992, Bldg 350 460th FSS Buckley Air Force Base Aurora, Colorado Director’s Spotlight Greetings from the 460 FSS! As we wind down another Colorado summer, many families are spending time preparing for the coming school year. Some of our Panther Cubs are enjoying an extended vacation as classes at the new Mosley P-8 do not begin until 14 September. If you need assistance navigating the local school system I encourage you to reach out to our School Liaison Officer, Tom Cox. Tom has been a part of the FSS family for several years and is the subject of this month’s Director’s Spotlight. Mr. Albert Woolley, Director Name: Tom Cox Title: School Liaison Officer / EFMP Family Support Coordinator Time of service at Buckley: 6 months in current position, 7 years as the Youth Director 1. What drew you to the School Liaison/EFMP position? I love kids and I enjoy helping others. This position is the best of both worlds. I still get to interact with youth and help the families with all their school and EFMP needs. 2. How does your position help the families of Buckley? Families need to know that I’m here for them and they have someone to talk to about resources, services and support. I am their point of contact for all things school and EFMP related. 3. What advice do you have for families with school age children? Don’t let the new routine sneak up on you. Talk about the change before it happens. It can be a great dinner topic or a way to start a conversation in the car. Remember...youth need time to adjust. Practice the new routine before you actually have to perform i.e...going to bed earlier, getting up earlier, establishing quiet time for homework and/or reading, etc... 4. What has kept you busy during the summer break? PCS season is definitely a busy time for me. I’ve fielded lots of questions and inquiries about the different districts, schools, places to live, etc... Each district has different registration processes which can be confusing so helping new families get adjusted to their new surroundings is exciting and rewarding. The Buckley Call The 460th Force Support Squadron is looking for bright, motivated people to join our team!
