The ZNAK “Baltic Contemporary Art” wallpaper collection was born out of idea to infuse
the ideas and concepts of contemporary artists
into interior design.
The designs in the collection were made in
collaboration with six contemporary artists
from the Baltic States, who work in various
fields of contemporary art, including painting,
conceptual art, fashion design, and video.
Each design in the ZNAK “Baltic Contemporary
Art” wallpaper collection have its own concept
and tells a different story – it is real art in the
interior.

KRIŠS SALMANIS Robots Don’t Feel

When examined closely, the regular geometric
forms suddenly turn into a swarm of robots! Robots
stand on their heads, laugh, cry, and relax, literally
bringing your wall to life. Salmanis transforms
a static plane into an exciting work of animation,
where you’ll find something new – new stories and
new emotions – every time you look! His design will
make you ponder what is real and what isn’t. But
can robots drawn on a wall really show emotions?

ARTURAS BUMŠTEINAS Lecter’s Room
Wallpaper idea
Art for those who value ideas above all else.
Lecter’s Room is a conceptual work of art that
has suddenly assumed a decorative form. Five
films about Hannibal Lecter, including the Oscarwinning The Silence of the Lambs, will create an
interactive environment that will engage every
person who enters the space.

Catherine’s Last Ride
The design features a series of 24 video stills
from the movie The Silence of the Lambs.
The stills were converted into ASCII format and
subtitled with the lyrics sung by Catherine Martin
during the scene where she is on her way straight
into the hands of the serial killer “Buffalo Bill”.
Wallpaper Nr. 2
Red Dragons
This is a design based on Francis Dolarhyde’s “Red
Dragon” tattoo. It was redrawn from memory, and
I tried to add more human shape to the image.
The design appears quite similar to the red dragon
depicted by William Blake. Where is the similarity?

Lecter’s Masks
This design is based on Hannibal Lecter’s masks,
which I drew while watching the Lecter films.

Technical information
about wallpapers material
The artists’ designs are printed on high- quality
DPX465 wallpaper material. DPX465 is a fleece
material made of a stable textile-and-cellulose
tissue that does not expand upon contact with
moisture, and may be pasted without soaking
or waiting. DPX465 fleece wallpaper is durable
and wrinkle-free. The material may be cleaned,
and is resistant to the effects of UV rays. The
wallpaper is very easy to use, as the paste is
applied directly to the wall, not to the back of
the wallpaper. The roll remains dry, allowing
for more convenient handling, and is cut-to-fit
for each wall.
Unlike synthetic materials, DPX465 fleece wallpaper is a convenient, ecologically safe, and
breathable material with an air permeability
that conforms to DIN 52615. The material is in
full compliance with E.U. construction norms.
As the material is non-flammable, and accords
with DIN 4102 B1, the wallpaper may be used in
the interior of public spaces. If the appropriate
glue is used during application, the wallpaper
may be removed from the wall and reapplied in
the same place or elsewhere.
