The two brothers are the foremost exponents ofBanaras Gharana.They very emphatically state that"
When we sing, we are one soul singing even we are in two bodies.They inherit great musical tradition
in the family running over three generations. Their father (pt. Hanuman Prasad Misra) ,grand father Pt
Sursahai Misra and great grand father Pt Ganesh Misra, all from a family of great maestros of Banaras
Gharana. Their music religiously observes the purity of raga. They are the recipients ofthe Padma
Bhushan,Sangeet Natak academy,Gandharv National and Tansen Samman awards. They have released
more than twenty albums of their music during their illustrious career spanning five decades. They have
performed virtually allover the world-Austria, Germany,France ,Netherlands Oman,Qatar,Singapore,
The Soviet Union, Sri Lanka,Switzerland UK, and the USA and many more countries. They are
considered two of the greatest musicians of our time.
Pt. Ashis Sengupta he is a dynamic and versatile percussionist (tabla)ofthe Banaras Gharana. He has
received initial training from his father Shri Ranjit Kumar Sengupta. He later on was groomed by Pt.
Nanku Maharaj,Pt. Mahapurush Mishra and Pt Krishna GangulyHe is a recipient of" TAALMANI"award .. He has travelled a lot to perform in numerous prestigious festivals and concerts all over
India and abroad. He is a regular performer on ALL NDIA RADIO,"Door darshan",Sangeet Sabha and
National Program of Music At present ,he is a member ofthe faculty of Music and fme arts at Delhi
University ..
Pt. VyasMurti Katti He was initiated in to music at very young age. He received his training in
Harmonium from Pt. Ramacharya Bagewadi of Solapur. He has developed style of playing Harmonium
that has won him appreciation of the artists.He has accompanied eminent artists like Dr. Gangubai
Hangal, Bharat Ratna Pt Bhimsen JoshiPt. Rajan and Sajan Misra, Pt Ulhas Kashalkar,Begum Parween
Sultana,Dr. Ashwini Bhide and many more.He has given several performances in India and visited
countries like USA,Canada,France,UK,Holland,
Belgium, Newzealand and many more.
Shri Katti being an electronic engineer has given up a career in IT to persue music full time. He lives in
Benglore.
