In the initiative »JAPAN Now« Matthias Grieder, owner of the Zeitvertrieb Gallery called artists to design posters, in which the Japanese flag is interpreted according to the catastrophe in 2011, but remains recognizable. 104 The title »JAPAN Now« refers to the situation after the tsunami and its aftermath: the earthquake, the destruction, the many victims. And the (still threatening) nuclear collapse, that should us all make think. »JAPAN Now« is setting signs – against nuclear power and pro global solidarity – and the sale of the posters will be donated to help the victims of the disaster in Japan. www.zeitvertrieb.net ”This generally happens when one eats cake, but alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out of the way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.“ Picture 1: Eye Patch by AND_i Picture 2: Dress by Lena Hoschek Lewis Caroll / Alice in Wonderland 105 DOSSIER Event 120 121 He Art collection pieces of wendy & jim, raf simons assistant: Christiano tekirdali production: Esther irena Vörösmarty year: 2007/08 Models: Victor riv / Stella Models Philip jelenska / Tempo Models Tim Hausmann, Roland Lehner & Toni . Oh, WICKED WANDA! was a British full-color, satirical adult comic strip, written by Frederic Mullally and drawn by Ron Embleton published by Penthouse Editions The background of ”ICON 00“ is very personal one: ”When I was six years old – my father placed this faboulose Penthouse editions under his bed. Whenever my parents left the house, I loved looking secretly through those magazines, 158 from 1973 until 1980. and ornate orgy of contemporary society. On one hand so much more generous these days in showing visual perversion, on the other a certain kind of showing deformation in our society. One of his signature features in telling us something about wanda was combining supreme erotic stories with a hint of social or politic critics with an ironically point of view in his statements. 00“ The project represents the symbolic WICKED WANDA is token of unfulflled dreams, sickness, media madness, social dictation, political misdirections which glorify memorable objects influencing the way we see ourselves and our world in a very which I always placed back in ex- ”ICON shows a figura- provocative and subversive way. act same position, so nobody would tive photo version that maintains Icons are everywhere, they are in fnd out what my childhood dreams real people.
