On the bus, the kids are taunting and being mean to Sam. (Tell, telling may help get him out of the bullying on the bus and also get some students in trouble). If this distinction is taught to children when they are young, it can pay off in the teen years, when some serious and life-threatening things can occur that a kid might be aware of and need to tell. We have had many exciting and energizing classes while learning about many options and opportunities to stay physically active. Some of the highlights have been baseball, football, frisbee, hula hoops, speed stacks, and winter games. I am looking forward to another fun-filled semester! Although, during the second half of the year we have two very big events: Jump Rope for Heart and Field Day. Our Jump Rope for Heart campaign which raises money to support the American Heart Association will kick off January 10th. This is when you should start looking for your students’ donation forms to be coming home. We will then start our actual in class Jump Rope for Heart Program on January 31st and continue until February 11th. All forms are due February 11th. Last year our school raised $5,028 for the American Heart Association, this year I have set our school goal at $6,000! Cardiovascular disease effects 1 of 3 Americans, therefore, all of us in someway can benefit from the great work of the American Heart Association. So, please lets all do our part in reaching our goal!! Field Day 2011 has been tentatively scheduled and approved by administration. As of now our dates will be June 7th for K-2 and June 8th for 3-5. Both sessions will be during the morning hours of school. Please make arrangements to take part in this special, fun, culminating event with your student. Although, please be aware that if we have missed days due to bad weather these times could be changed. If you have any questions about any of these events feel free to contact Miss Lewis anytime at: Khlewis2@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.
