Christmas Laser Light Show – is next Wed., Dec. 21st
at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Kluesner and the Science Club will
present a wonderful light show accompanied by music.
The cost is $1 to get in and there will be refreshments
before the show.
Schools Out - Christmas Vacation/Early Dismissal –
Thurs., Dec. 22nd is the last day of school before
Christmas vacation begins. We will be dismissed at 1:35
p.m. on that day. Classes will resume on Tues., Jan. 3,
2012. Happy New Year!
Early Dismissal – Students will be dismissed at 11:00
a.m. on Fri., Jan. 13th for a School Improvement Day.
No School – on Mon., Jan. 16th due to Martin Luther
King Day.
Report Cards – The end of the second nine
weeks is on Fri., Jan. 13th, 2012. Report cards
will go home on Fri., Jan. 20th, 2012. If you
have any questions about your child’s grades or
missing assignments please call or email the teacher.
Parent Club – will hold a meeting on Tues., Jan. 10th at
6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
All parents are welcome to join the club and help out
anytime during the school year. Watch for information
about their fundraiser to come home either in January or
February. Box Tops – The Parent Club is holding a
contest from Jan. 3rd – March 2nd with each classroom.
The class that collects the most box tops will get a pizza
party and 2nd place will get an ice cream party. The
school gets 10¢ for each box top collected.
Parkview Chess Team – The members are:
Jordan Brasher, Cierra Cabral-Murphy,
Chris Fugate, Sarah Hampe, Kelsie Hillier,
Jeremy Honeycutt, Brady Hultquist, Austin
Remmel, Orion Ringel, Jarod Traver, Caleb Walker,
Austin Bellew, Angel Cabral-Murphy, Dillon Pollitt,
Lucas Raynor, Austin Waggoner, Brayden Feeney,
Justin Bryant, Tyler Sample, Austin Thomson, Maverick
Wixom, James Saathoff, Zack Reece, Anthony Frakes,
Jacob Wagley, and Tyler Stone. The coaches are Miss
Strauman and Mr. Nungester. Members of the chess
team will compete in the Tazewell County Chess
Tournament on February 25th at Georgetowne Middle
School. If you have any questions, please contact Miss
Strauman.
Spelling Bee – The first round of this year’s Spelling
Bee will be held on Jan. 31st after announcements in the
morning. The second round will be Feb. 7th and the final
round will be Feb. 9th. All students will participate in the
spelling bee.
8th Grade Students and Parents – We will be sending
home a letter about the spelling of your child’s name in
January for you to view and make
corrections. This is how your child’s name
will appear on their diploma. It must be
your child’s legal name. Please sign and
return the letter even if you are not
changing the spelling.
The tentative
graduation date has been set for Thurs., May 17th at 6:30
p.m. at East Peoria High School.
8th Grade Students that will be attending
Pekin High School next year will take their
placement test on Sat., Jan. 14th, 2012. Testing will be
held at Pekin High School. They ask that students enter
the school through the column entrance that is located
off of Stadium Drive. The testing procedure will begin
promptly at 7:45 a.m., so students should plan to arrive
between 7:30 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. The testing will
conclude at approximately 10:30 a.m. A representative
will be at Parkview on Jan. 6th to talk to students.
8th Grade Students that will be going to East
Peoria High School next year- Registration sheets were
due to Parkview in December. Counselors will be here
on Feb. 15th to talk to the students about next year’s
classes and what their options are for electives. Then on
Feb. 23rd there will be an orientation/registration at the
East Peoria High School at 6:30 p.m. There will only be
one night for this because this year everything should be
pre-arranged.
8th Grade Six Flags Trip is tentatively set for
May 11th, 2012. A permission slip will be going home
in January to either sell candy bars or pay for the trip.
The cost for the trip should be around $60.
MAP Testing – The test will be administered from
January 17th through January 27th. This test will assess
your child’s progress for the first half of the school year.
The results will also be used for high school placement.
5th & 6th grade Boys’ Basketball team – The coach this
year is Mr. Chris Boles. The team members are: 5th
Grade – John Wyman, James McCartney, Josh
McCartney, Hunter Nolan, Jordan Rudd, Ross Smith,
Orion Ringel, Kaleb Bustle, Jordan Brasher, Caleb
Walker 6th Grade Team – Ethan Gandy, Hunter Gill,
Cody Nute, Chris Walker, Gavin Worley, Brandon
Johnson, Mac Haldeman, Jackson Ashburn, Brandon
Fogelmark, and Austin Moore Manager – Brendon
Lauss. Remember all team members need to pay the
$25 Athletic Fee before the first game. (Schedule

Volleyball Team – The team is coached
by Mr. Menold. The team members this
year are: 8th Grade team – Jessica
Dokken, Kirsten Alderman, Rikki
Marion, Jordan Kee, Alleysa Tate,
Taylor Starling, Daniela Novoa, Alicia Lee, McKinzie
Luedtke, and Taylor Myers 7th Grade Team –Felica
McCroy, Haylee Taylor, Madison Schroeder, Bre
Million, Cora Knight, Marissa Graff, Kylie Pitzer, Lexi
Maxwell, Rylee Harper, and Katie Eyer. A game
schedule has been attached. Remember you need to pay
the $25 Athletic Fee before the first game. (Schedule

Student Council – celebrated all of the hard work that
they have done this year with a
Christmas pizza party. As of December
we have supported the following activities:
$25 to each teacher for his/her classroom,
fundraiser, Warrior Way prizes and
festivals, Honor Roll awards and t-shirts,
Turkey Coin collection, Red Ribbon Week, Salvation
Army Bell Ringing at Walmart, and Student-of-theMidterm lunches.
Thank you to everyone that sold Fannie May! We sold
$22,968.00 worth of candy! We get to keep a profit of
40% of this to use on activities and rewards for our
students. Here are our top seller results:

January’s meetings are on Tues., Jan. 10th & 24th. Keep
up the good work Student Council! We are having a

Felicia McCroy, Kristin McCollum, and Brooklyn
Williams. Remember you need to pay the $25 Athletic

School Closings – In case of inclement
weather or unforeseen emergencies you
will be contacted by our AlertNow
automated phone system. This rapid
notification system allows the district to
contact each family by phone using an
automated phone message. This system will call the
emergency contact numbers on your child’s emergency
card. Please keep your emergency phone numbers
updated.
Science Fair – When we get back from
Christmas break, 7th & 8th grade students
will be getting geared up for the science
fair. The science fair informational
packets will be sent home in January.
Please help your child make this a
successful experience by keeping up with the due dates!

Help for the Holidays – The Creve Coeur Lions Club,
Patty Smallberger, and Amber Pilkington would like to
send a BIG THANK YOU to everyone in the
community and in the school district who helped with
the Holiday Helpers Christmas toy giveaway. This year
we are serving 113 families and 280 kids. We could not
do this tremendous job each year without your help.
