Wednesday Mail Week of September 21, 2015 – September 25, 2015 Chuck E. Cheese Night TOMORROW 3-9pm Read Across the Globe (volunteers needed) Mark your calendars for our first Chuck E. Cheese Night! Students, along with their families, can enjoy a night of pizza and fun while raising money to benefit our school. Come join us at the Chuck E. Cheese at 6787 Hwy 6 North starting at 3:00 on Thursday the 24th. Students will receive free tokens for games when wearing their Chuck E. Cheese stickers. We look forward to seeing everyone there. Harmony is excited to announce an amazing opportunity to participate in breaking a Guinness World Record! Nine Houston-area Harmony elementary schools will participate in Read Across the Globe which will take place on October 19th, 2015. Read Across the Globe is an initiative which began with the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation and the Points of the Light Foundation. The goal is to have over 300,000 children around the globe read to in a 24 hour period. We will all read the following book: Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table by Jacqueline Briggs Martin. We need one parent volunteer from each class to read to the students. Every class will begin reading at 9:00 AM. Readers will report to the campus between 8:00am to 8:30am. If you are interested in reading for 30 minutes to a class on October 19th, please email our Librarian Julie Prestigiacomo at jprestigiacomo@harmonytx.org. Pickup/Dismissal Reminders: Lunch Application Upon entering the school parking lot, parents dropping off/picking up K-2 students will stay on the right and pick up/drop off in the back of the building, behind the cafeteria. Parents of grade 3-5 students will drive in the left lane and drop off/pick up in the front of the school. Parents who have children in both K-2 and 3-5 will pick up/drop off with the K-2 students. Please display a sign with your child’s name on it in your car window when picking up after school—this speeds things up considerably. For their safety, students must ALWAYS be escorted to their car by an adult. Another safety reminder—please do not speed through the parking lot, and refrain from using your cell phone while driving. Friendly reminder, lunch applications for free and reduced lunch are being accepted at the front office. If you had free and reduced lunch last year, it rolled over for the first 30 days. However you do need to submit a new application each year in order to continue the program. FRIENDLY REMINDERS from the SCHOOL NURSE 1.
