explore the lives of American Girl
dolls, including Felicity, Kit and Julie.
We will learn about the time periods
in which they lived, and we will
participate in a craft activity that goes
along with the time period. They will
also learn how to braid their doll’s
hair, and will make jewelry for them.
Art Around the World
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
What would it be like to take a magic
carpet ride through the Middle East,
design a Greek Vase, an Australian
boomerang or a Middle Eastern Henna
tattoo? Now you can experience it all,
while learning about different cultures
from all over the world!
Be Fit & Get Outside Gr. K-2
Students will learn one game or sport
each day, and practice the skills to
make them successful in these games.
Students will film one another
practicing these skills, and will review
the videos to improve themselves.
Best Ball Games
Gr. K-2
This camp will incorporate all of the
best physical education ball games.
Students will
dribble, volley,
pass, shoot, toss
and throw. All
activities will be
developmentally
appropriate with a primary focus on
improving fine and gross motor skills.
Bird is the Word!
Gr. K-2
Learn about local birds and habitats,
and design and build habitats for
birds in your area! Students will learn
about birds near and far, and will
develop a class book with photos and
illustrations of the birds we see!
Bowling
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
This class will introduce students to
the basics of bowling. It’s never too
early to learn how to properly hold
and roll a bowling ball. Students will
leave the course with a practice
packet, which will allow them to
continue to practice the techniques
even after the course has ended.
Bubble Blast
Gr. K-2
If you enjoy blowing and popping
bubbles, then this is the course for
you! We will learn the
history of bubbles
while we create
bubble solutions,
learn bubble recipes,
make giant bubbles,
and play bubble
games. We will also immerse
ourselves in many science activities
revolving around water.
Building Bonanza
Gr. K-2
Calling all future engineers! This
exciting program features structured
play with Legos, K’NEX, Zomes, basic
blocks, and more. Kids will learn
communication skills and teamwork,
and are encouraged to think outside
the box when solving problems.

This fun camp offers age-appropriate
activities in a school setting. Programs
focus on building social and motor
skills while having fun. Indoor and
outdoor spaces will be used and
activities will include story time,
outdoor games, science activities,
computer labs, and more!

Have you ever

Broadway show
and wondered,
“How do they do
that?” Well, now
you can find
out! Through fun theatre games and
techniques that the pros use, you will
learn how to create larger than life
characters through movement and
improvisation, and act out scenes
from some of your favorite stories.
Class Monsters
Gr. K-2
Fun projects will give the students the
chance to work both independently
and collaboratively. They will create
their own monsters as well as
sculptured, 3-D class-sized monsters.
They will also design and build a
closet for their monster to sleep in
when the day ends! Scary and slimy or
fun and loving – the choice is yours!
Comic Book Creation
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
What better way to spend your
summer than creating your very
own comic book! You will get the
chance to develop new and
interesting characters, and place
them in adventurous story lines.
You’ll learn simple techniques to
help you sketch your characters in
detail. You’ll spend the first two
days of class using well-known
comics to understand how
professional authors develop their
characters and storylines.

Students will
utilize various
programs to build
their computer
literacy and will
learn proper
keyboarding skills and how to safely
navigate and search the internet.

We will read story
books involving food,
like If You Give a Mouse
a Cookie, Pinkalicious,

Then, we will learn how to make the

We will read stories about all sorts of
things, like animals, games,
princesses, cars, and super heroes.
After reading, we will design and
make crafts that help to enhance the
stories, like dioramas, puppets, and
models.
Crazy Clay Creatures
Gr. K-2
Students will learn basic handbuilding techniques with clay. We will
start with pinching, coil-making, and
simple joining techniques. Using
these skills, students will create
various creatures from their
imaginations. Students will decorate
their creations using ceramic glazes.
Projects will be taken home to enjoy.
Crazy Faces
Gr. K-2
Young artists will have the
opportunity to create self-portraits
influenced by artists like Kahlo, Van
Gogh, and Picasso. Not only will we
paint our current faces, but also our
super hero
selves, what we
might look like
all grown up
and in our
favorite place. We will use a variety
of fun materials and will create
paintings based on conveying our
mood through our facial
expressions.
Creative Characters
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
This class focuses on creative
writing. Throughout the school year,
writing workshop focuses on
teaching children how to write
stories from their lives but they
have little opportunity to write
stories from their imagination.
Students will leave the class with a
realistic fiction or fantasy piece, a
sci-fi story or a fairy tale!
Cruise into K
Gr. Pre-K
This pre-K readiness adventure is
for students entering Kindergarten
in September. Through a variety of
age appropriate activities, your
child will refine and develop skills
necessary for success in the fall.
Activities will appeal to all types of
learners. The morning section will
focus on academic readiness while
the afternoon section will be a FUN
camp experience with a range of
activities in all subject areas.

Students will learn popular line
dances and a few
original combinations.
The class will
incorporate lyrical and
hip hop dance moves.

Fashion Accessories Gr. K-2
This camp will have it all! Games,
exercise, skill development and
most importantly…FUN! All
activities will be movement based
with a purpose to develop skills and
build positive relationships.
Activities will include innovative
tag, sports and cooperative games.
Students will use their fashion design
sense to create accessories that reflect
their unique style and personality.
The class will use fun fabrics, paints,
ribbons, iron-ons, rhinestones and
more to bring their accessories to life.
Students will make duct tape
bracelets, hand painted bags, ribbon
belts, bottle cap necklaces and stylish
hair accessories.
Dinosaurs & Other Fossils
Gr. K-2
Students will become
paleontologists as they learn
everything there is to know about
dinosaurs. Using books, videos, and
activities, the students will learn
about the dinos that roamed
the earth in the Jurassic
period. They will add
pages to their
Dinosaur Journal, dig for dinosaur
bones, and learn about other fossils.
Discovering Famous Artists
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
Students will become familiar with
the work of great artists like
Picasso, Van Gogh, and Warhol. Each
day will feature different strategies
and media used to create different
genres of artwork like painting,
drawing, and sculpting. Students
will learn about different styles like
impressionism and cubism, and will
create unique artwork.
Edible Art
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
When it comes to making art, what
better way to end a project than to
EAT IT? During this scrumptious
class, we will work with edible
paint, edible crayons, and even
edible sand art. Students will not
only create art with food, but will
learn about the process of making
edible food products.
Fantastic Clay Creations
Gr. 3-5
Journey into clay sculpture building
by creating dragons, gnomes,
unicorns, fairies and more. Using and
learning basic hand building
techniques, students will create
creatures from books or their
imaginations. Students will decorate
their creations using ceramic glazes.
Projects will be taken home to enjoy.
Fiction Series Fun
Gr. K-2
This course explores the wonderful
world of series books. Every few
days, we will dive into a new series
while focusing on character, plot,
vocabulary and more. Explore Junie
B. Jones, Clifford, Frog & Toad and
Henry & Mudge. Come and foster a
love of reading with some cherished
books.
Fun with Play-Doh Gr. Pre-K
Students will complete a variety of
activities using Play-Doh. They will
explore basic color concepts and art
related concepts. They will use
household items to explore different
textures and make projects like a
porcupine made with spaghetti.
Students will learn about imprints
and letters working with play-doh.
Golf for Beginners
Gr. 3-5
This introduction to the game of golf
will include chip, swing, putting, club
selection, keeping score, terminology,
and etiquette. Minigolf challenges will
be held throughout
the course. The
most important
part of the class is
to have fun and learn the game so you
can take what you learned and use it
on a real course!
Greek Mythology
Gr. 3-5
Students will learn all about the myths
and legends of the Greeks – Gods,
Goddesses, Heroes, Mount Olympus,
the Underworld, and creatures like
Cyclops and Medusa! Children will
create dioramas, taste Ancient Greek
foods, and drink Medusa punch.
Finally, students will create a
labyrinth, Medusa stone statues, and
Zeus lightning bolts.
Green Ambassadors
Gr.3-5
Our students will use the
school grounds as a
place to learn, observe
and explore!
Ambassadors will run the
Summer Adventure Lunchtime
Recycling program, learn to identify
local flora and fauna, and develop
general wilderness awareness. Think
green, and help Summer Adventure
and the world be a better place!
Going Google
Gr. 2-5
Students will explore the world of
Google Drive, Google Drawing, Google
Slides, Google Forms and so much
more on Chromebooks. They will
understand the ins and outs of using
the Chrome browser and learn how to
find good apps. The Google world is
endless.
Gymnastics
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
This class is the perfect way for your
child to develop confidence and selfesteem through body movement! We
will begin with a warm up sequence
that will use a
combination of
gymnastics and yoga
techniques to promote
strength and flexibility.
Then, the students will
learn about gymnastics and develop
coordination and body awareness.
Through posture, balance,
coordination and strength, children
release energy and have fun doing it.
Hola, Español Gr. K-2 & 3-5
Teaching Spanish can help students
grow up and appreciate Hispanic
culture. Having the ability to speak
two or more languages in today’s
society can give you a leg up! So say
“Hola,” to Spanish, and “Adios,” to a
boring summer!
Inspiring Illustrators
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
Using the art of famous illustrators
like Eric Carle, Leo Leonni and Robert
Sabuda, kids will create their own
inspired illustrations. This class will
focus on the art within the books, and
how it helps tell the story even
without words. Students will make
collages, paintings, and pop-up art just
like their favorite illustrators!
Jewelry Making
Gr. K-2
Students will create a variety of oneof-a-kind jewelry and accessories
using an assortment of tools and
strategies. The class will use beads,
yarn, clay, string, and fabrics to make
a complete jewelry and accessory
collection that they will
be proud to wear.
Students will leave the
class with a
compilation of
handcrafted jewelry and accessories,
and a “how to” book with all of their
learned skills!
Kids in the Kitchen
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
This hands-on cooking adventure will
focus on recipes that kids can make
for themselves and their families.
They will have fun cooking while also
learning math through measurements
and portion sizes. We will focus on
health and nutrition as we make
healthy and well-balanced foods. The
students will also create a keepsake
book of recipes throughout the class.
An additional $10 food fee will be
added to the price of this class.
Kitchen Science Gr. PreK-2
This course will open your child’s eyes
to the exciting world of science using
everyday items found in the kitchen!
Students will create things like slime
and rubber eggs, as well as learn how
and why different things work and
explore science in a safe, new, and
exciting way.
Knights, Castles & Wizards Gr. 3-5
We will
learn all
about
Medieval
times and read tales of dragons and
magical kingdoms. We will also make
shields, catapults, and castles with
moats. We will write with invisible
ink, brew potions we can drink, and
create our own wands.
Knitting Loom
Gr. 3-5
Knitting Looms aren’t just for making
rubber band bracelets. Students in
this class will learn how to set up the
loom to make a hat or scarf with yarn.
They will also learn how to read
patterns and put the loom together.
You won’t believe what you can make
with the loom!
Learn to Create Games Gr. 3-5
Students will use Scratch to create
computer games. They can program
and share games with others and will
gain insights into how games work.
This course will be an opportunity for
children to further explore the areas
they are interested in and to share
what they have learned with their
peers.
Legos Rule
Gr. K-2
Students will connect with the world
of technology using Legos. Fun and
engaging hands-on projects with
castles, skyscrapers, bridges, 3-legged
chairs, houses, and floor plans are just
a few of the themes.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Gr. 3-5
Have you ever wanted to make your
own movie? Students in this class will
learn how to make a movie from start
to finish – shooting video footage, still
photos, and their own created music.
Students can decide to create a music
video, commercial, personal
documentary… the sky’s the limit!
Marble Madness
Gr. 3-5
Two weeks of marble fun!
Students will learn the
history of marbles, and
even make their own. They will use
them to “knuckle down” and play a
wide variety of marble games. Don’t
worry – we aren’t playing for keeps,
so each child will bring their marbles
home at the end of the session.
MathART
Gr. 3-5
Students will create projects that
make a natural connection between
math and art like “stained glass
windows,” tessellations, and explore
the art of Piet Mondrian to explore
geometry. They will also become
invested in other projects involving
number sense, measurement,
patterns, symmetry, statistics, etc.
Mathematics Concepts K-5
This course will offer a review of basic
math concepts for each grade.
Instruction will be enriched with
hands-on experiences, games, and
strategies in a fun-filled environment
designed to strengthen mathematical
knowledge and expand mathematical
competency. Please register by grade
finished in June 2015.
Math in the Kitchen Gr. K-2
This class will introduce young bakers
to fractions! We will discuss fractions,
decimals and measuring while
whipping up some tasty treats. Who
knew math could be so delicious?
Muggles at Hogwarts
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
Students are invited to attend
Hogwarts and learn about subjects
described in the
Harry Potter
series. Students
will attend
Astronomy,
Arithmancy,
Divination, and
Potions classes. In addition, students
will be given the opportunity to
compete in various house cup
challenges, and earn points for their
desired house.
News Broadcasting
Gr. 3-5
Calling all future reporters, news
writers, directors, and producers!
Summer Adventure will have its very
own news station! Campers will learn
what it takes to make a network like
CNN tick..behind-the-scenes. Creating
and hosting a newscast provides a
wealth of practical hands-on
experience. Students will write their
own scripts, film, and edit clips,
culminating in one complete show.
No Batteries Required Gr. K-2
Learn board games, card games, and
jigsaw puzzles. Each day will feature a
new game. This class
will help with
following directions,
taking turns, sharing,
and learning to win
or lose but still enjoy playing. Can we
finish a puzzle in two weeks?
Once Upon a Time
Gr. K-2
This is a class where anything can
happen! Children will be able to use
their imagination and create
characters and worlds that are
magical. They will be immersed in
various fairy tales including
Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk
and Rapunzel. We will also work on
important reading strategies and
activities based on what we read.

Reading/Writing Workshop
Gr. K-5
What a way to enjoy the summer!
Participants will enjoy playing games,
keeping fit, and learning the rules for
kickball, tag, volleyball, and other fun
summer games!
This unique reading/writing program
is open to students of all abilities. The
format will be similar to the Teachers
College Reading and Writing
Workshop. Emphasis is placed on the
acquisition of reading/writing skills.
The program is designed to maintain,
strengthen and expand these
important skills. Please register by
grade finished in June 2015
Painting with Watercolors
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
Students will explore the exciting
medium of watercolor painting. They
will learn basic techniques and will
experiment with them to create their
own masterpieces. We will also
discuss famous watercolor artists.
Pirates, Princesses &
Super Heroes
Gr. K-2
Students will learn about different
pirates, princess and super heroes
from both books and movies. Various
themed activities will have students
doing things like running a super hero
obstacle course, walking the plank
and making a crown or royal scepter.
Students will create their own
character and write a story about
them. Set your sights for adventure!
Plants & Bugs
Gr. K-2
Students will learn about the wonders
of nature through
plants and bugs. We
will take daily nature
walks to explore the
plants and bugs that
are native to our area
and journal what we
see. We will also work on our “green
thumbs” by planting a variety of seeds
and see how much they grow and
change.
Printmaking
Gr. K-3 & 3-5
Students will learn the concept of
printmaking – transferring an image
from one surface to another.
Experimenting with different tools
like fruits and vegetables and
ordinary objects is great fun. Students
will create multiple copies of their
work. They will also carve into
Styrofoam printing plates, roll them
with ink and print them.
Safari Bistro
Gr. K-2
Zoo animals are
fascinating!
Learn about the
animals you see
when you visit
the zoo. Choose
your favorite and develop yummy
menu items that reflect that animal’s
diet. Create an actual menu and make
fun foods that look like what your
animal would eat. On the last day we
will open our Bistro. You will take
turns being waiters/customers,
serving each other with fun foods.
Summer Olympics
Gr. 2-5
Welcome to the Summer Olympics!
Students will represent different
countries in various physical events
including an Olympic Torch relay race,
floor hockey, volleyball, and other
Olympic-based events. Students will
also create international crafts. The
last day will conclude with closing
ceremonies!

What is the inside of the Earth like?
Where do rainbows
come from? Young
scientists will discover
the answers to many
questions. This course is
filled with many
activities and
experiments that are designed to
encourage curiosity. Each day, your
child will explore a different scientific
concept as they hypothesize, mix,
pour, compare, and observe.

Super Science 2
Gr. K-2
Why do some objects float while
others sink? Can we change the color
of a flower? Can we use a magnet to
make a paperclip float? Young
scientists will discover the answers to
these questions, and more! This
course is designed to work with the
original Super Science class. This
course can be taken before, after, or in
conjunction with Super Science.
Tennis
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
Learn the FUNdamentals of tennis.
This course will
include practice in
forehand and
backhand strokes and
introduction to the
game’s rules.
Upcycle Crafts
Gr. K-2
This class will turn your trash into
treasure. Students will use simple
supplies such as bottle caps, paper
towel rolls, plastic bottles and milk
cartons to create a number of crafts
they will be proud to show off. The
class will construct bird feeders,
planters, toys & games and will also
learn the value of reusing materials
that would otherwise be thrown
away.

fun learning about winter in July? We
have shoveled up a ton of crosscurricular activities that involve
winter folk lore, snowmen, winter
animals and more! Your child will

water.
Weather Reporters
Gr. 3-5
Become a junior meteorologist and
discover how hurricanes,
thunderstorms, and tornadoes form.
Investigate how weather is predicted
and measured. Fun arts and crafts
projects and hands-on experiments
will back up the findings.

Ocean Life. They will read engaging
books, watch real-life
videos and work on
creative, hands-on
projects. We will
discuss a variety of sea
creatures including
whales, dolphins, octopuses,
and squid. They will also learn about
coral reefs and the animals that live in
them. By the end of the course,
students will have a new appreciation
for the ocean.

Scientists will learn how to enhance
their detective skills throughout this
course by solving a series of
different mysteries.

Woodworking
Gr. 3-5
Students will build a variety of
projects out of wood including bird
houses, stools and pencil boxes. They
will then decorate their projects with
paint and other objects. Most of the
wood we will be working with will be
repurposed from wood pallets.
Yoga
Gr. K-2 & 3-5
The class will begin with a yoga
sequence to promote strength and
flexibility. Then, the students will
learn about and develop coordination
and body awareness. Through
posture, balance, coordination, and
strength, children can release energy
and have fun doing it.

Withdrawal Policy &
Program Information
If you need to withdraw your child
from any class, you must submit
your request in writing on or
before June 5th. Your tuition will
be returned, less a non-refundable
$25 registration fee per class. If
you withdraw your child from any
class after that date, no refund will
be given. Transfers are allowed
but not guaranteed. Please select
your classes carefully as no
refunds or transfers will be
allowed after 4 pm on June 5th.
Classes with insufficient
enrollment are subject to
cancellation. If RCS cancels a
class, you will receive a full
refund. No transportation is
provided.
