recommend they are washed before use.
Habotai Silk
Heavy Viscose Satin
Useful for backing Italian or Trapunto quilting
or for experimental pulled work
Available in two weights, medium and light.
The lighter of the two is a most delicate silk
for painting scarves or lingerie. The medium
weight is still a fine silk, suited for silk
painting or backgrounds.
A very useful fabric with a luxurious sheen
that is just wonderful for dyeing, with a
cotton back.

Waste Canvas
Is a plush, smooth, luxurious deep pile fabric
that takes dye and paint beautifully and is fun
to machine.
Waste Canvas is standard needlepoint canvas that is held together with a water soluble glue. It is
used to aid stitch placement when sewing onto non-evenweave fabrics like clothing, bags and
quilts. After completion of the design, the temporary fibres in the canvas are moistened and
removed, leaving the finished design in place. A blue thread is often woven every 10 stitches to

There are many different types of material to be embroidered, ranging from fine silk to pile fabrics and leather goods and it is
most important to have a backing fabric, not only to stabilise, but also to ensure the smooth movement of the frame across the
base plate of the machine. In addition to providing stability the use of a stabiliser helps to reduce puckering.
Our non-woven backings are available in tear-away or cut-away styles in weighs of 40g upwards.
A standard weight backing is about 40g with more than one piece normally used. A heavier backing will reduce the number of
pieces required.
Suitable for stretch materials like T-shirts and polo shirts. The backing
fabric is multi-directional and easy tear, easily removed and
repositioned if required. Adhesion is determined by length of time
heat is applied. Quick heat = temporary adhesion. Does not leave a
sticky residue.

Iron on tear away stabilisers
Tear-aways are temporary stabilisers that are easy to remove after
your stitching is completed. Recommended for use with medium to
heavyweight fabrics and densely stitched embroidery designs. Can
be torn away in either a horizontal or vertical direction, and should be
removed carefully in order to not disturb the stitches of the design.
Not recommended for delicate fabrics or sweaters.

Cut away Stabilisers
Suitable for stretch materials, like T-shirts and polo shirts. Adhesive
Tear Away is also suitable for mounting sheer fabrics and difficult to
mount items, like ties and caps. The backing fabric is already sticky
(no heat required) multi-directional and easy tear, easily removed and
repositioned if required without leaving a sticky residue.
Cut-aways are permanent stabilisers that are designed to remain with
the garment to keep it stable during and after embroidery. Trim away
to the stitching line and do not totally remove. Perfect for dense
embroidery designs and fabrics that stretch and distort like knits and
synthetics. Washes well and is excellent for jobs where the stabiliser
comes in contact with the skin and where visibility of the stabiliser is
not an issue.

STICKY SIA
SIA, made in the USA by Hoopitall Inc., is an exceptional
product that permanently stabilises the fabric being sewn
by adhering to the back of the Hoop.
The SIA™ adhesive side faces up and the fabric is then
placed against the adhesive holding the fabric securely,
preventing any undesirable movement and subsequent
distortion of the design.
SIA™ Stabiliser is removable without adhesive transfer from the hoop
and is designed to resist gumming of the needle, which is a common
problem with inferior products. Completely washable and tears like
paper. SIA™ is designed to last for the lifetime of the garment, quilt or

A film of heat reactive glue that is used to
adhere to badges after embroidery. Heat seal
tidies up the loose ends and after removal of
the release paper, allows the badge to be fixed
to a garment with heat. Suitable only for
badges or garments that will require heat
fixing. If you wish to just tidy up loose threads,
use a standard fusible backing.

A heat-sensitive woven fabric that
disintegrates with a hot, dry iron, then
brushes away easily. It's like a muslin that
vanishes. Easy to see through to trace
designs. Because it is woven and firm, it is
easy to stitch on when creating Machine

wetting or tearing would cause distortion to
stitches or damage to your base material.

Bodybuilder is a 3mm thick foam available in
black and white on sheets 30cm x 40cm that
is used for 3D embroidery to raise stitches.
Place the bodybuilder over the area to be

lifted away even on lettering after embroidery.

Unlike fusible webs that lift and pucker,
HeatnBond is a 100% solid sheet of glue for
the strongest machine washable bond. Low
temperature settings and quick pressing time
allows you to bond all types of materials.
The original, Steam-A-Seam Lite sticky back,
has the pressure sensitive adhesive (the
"stick") on one side which allows for a
temporary hold to the appliqué material. It
shifts easily on the second material allowing
you to quickly reposition your appliqué
pieces until pressed with an iron for a
permanent bond. Once fused the bond is
the same as Steam-A-Seam2. Use for seams,
trims, hems, appliqué and craft projects, will
not gum up the needle.

Transfer adhesive
A strong, heat reactive, adhesive which
permanently bonds one fabric to another
when ironed. A design can be drawn on the
paper backing, cut out and pressed with a
hot iron fusing it to a fabric, paper wood,
cardboard felt etc. Another fabric can then
be placed on top when the paper backing is
removed to permanently bond the two
together. Sold by the metre 90cm (36")
wide.

Not many quilters & embroiderers are
familiar with fusible thread, but it’s great for
machine appliqué.
It looks a lot like dental floss. If you lay it out
and steam it with your iron, the thread will
shrivel up. It will bond fabric to fabric in a
very thin line - the width of the thread. If you
use a zigzag stitch, it gives more of a
bonding area. Use in the bobbin with
Monopoly on the top.

creative work. Fibertex is like paper, but
stronger and water resistant, it’s softer and

AQUASOL SOLUBLE FABRIC - Metre/Roll

Cold Water Soluble Fabric is a thin opaque
plastic film which can be embroidered with
inter-linking stitches or can be placed over a
ground material to stabilise the fabric.
The fabric is dissolved by immersion in water
or by cold water spray with a soak period of
approximately 3 minutes.
Dissolve times may vary according to the
density of the ground material.

The Hot Water Soluble Fabric is a more
substantial fabric similar to a white organdie.
Designs can be traced directly onto HWSF
without difficulty.
The fabric is used in much the same way as
the CWSF but it has the advantage of having
more stability thereby allowing heavy
designs and more accurate embroidery.
To dissolve HWSF, simmer in boiling water.
As with all new processes it is highly
recommended that a small sample is
produced before use.

Hoop-It-All Soluble Films
Both S-DSV & DSV™ are exclusive products
of Hoop-It-All. The clear film completely
dissolves in about 3 minutes in room
temperature water. Both are 300% stiffer
than some other water-soluble stabilizers, to
provide greater ease of use and handling
with 400% less stretch, preventing
embroidery distortion and puckering.
The adhesive coating on the S-DSV is factory
applied and is then protected by a release
liner until ready for use. It’s sticky that’s for
sure, as it was originally produced to use
with the Hoop-It-All™ giant hoops when
embroidering on sheer see-through fabrics.

Multipurpose snap-off cutter, ideal for light-duty
cutting. With built-in blade snapper. Long

Spare Blade (OL-AB-10B)
Slash cutting creates a fluffy mock chenille fabric, created by
stacking four to six pieces of cotton, rayon, or silk fabric in a
sandwiched layer. Using a sewing machine, the layers are then
quilted through on the diagonal with parallel lines 1/4 inch to an 1
inch apart.

The slash cutter is then used to slash all but the bottom layer of
fabric between the stitching lines. The resulting layered fabric is
then machine washed and dried to make the cut edges neatly
"bloom" (difficult to describe this final finish but if you can
envisage a chenille thread the finish is very similar). Because the
stitching and slashing are done on the bias, the edges fluff up in a
cushy pile with no ends to unravel and are fantastically soft.
