Customizing made easier and more fun than ever
The 2010 Ford Mustang – America’s favorite muscle car for 45 years straight – is ready to be customized. In fact, as one of the most customized cars ever, Ford is making it easier for pony car
lovers to create the virtual Mustang of their dreams. With never-before-used digital technologies,
Ford has created a customizer site within the car’s microsite at www.fordvehicles.com/
the2010mustang.The site’s design is meant to reflect what the Ford Mustang is all about: a classic
design and a hard attitude, coming together to create a revolutionary automobile. One week after
launch, almost 52,000 cars have been built with more than 16,000 of those saved into the site gallery. And more than 30 forums and blogs are sharing their own creations – all without a single dime
put toward advertising. The Mustang customizer site is not only fun, but it’s also simple to
use. Choosing parts, changing colors, determining the intensity of your burnout cloud – all of these
interactions are designed to be fluid and easy. There are 239 assets in the customizer, and visitors
can even choose the decals and the environments for their Mustang. Accessories available include
wheels, decklids, spoilers and grilles. Within minutes, 10 vastly different looks can be created and
saved as desktop wallpaper.
There are countless customizer sites out there, but the 2010 Ford Mustang customizer sets itself
apart, largely because it’s not designed to be a linear build and price experience, like most such
sites are. Working with Wunderman/Team Detroit and Firstborn, Ford focused on bringing some
fun back into dreaming up the ultimate Mustang.

Firstborn created a car customizer that would resonate with the target audience. A community customizer section is instrumental in doing just that. This multiuser mode lets four people work on the
same Mustang in real time. Chat features create an even more social experience, and the gallery
allows submitted Mustangs to be voted on by other users, with the winners displayed each
week. Firstborn built the customizer section to facilitate multiple users in the same place, all customizing at the same time – thereby allowing users to watch others building their custom Mustang.
For those serious about making their custom car a reality, a downloadable PDF offers a detailed list
of all the parts used to create that particular Mustang. The PDF is separated into three categories –
Ford, aftermarket and concept accessories – and includes links to the applicable sites. The list of
parts makes it easy to start a conversation with your local Ford dealer.

The Time Is Here...........
WOW Time really flies - It's hard to believe we are already in September. As I write this we are two weeks awafrom the 2009 Wild West Auto Fest. We have had a great month for registrations; we have almost 360 as of today. Great work to all of you for getting those fliers out!! We are expecting around 600 cars in total!!
In order to make this show a great success we have to rely on you, the amazing members of this great Club. We
also have an outstanding committee this year, who have made a lot of adjustments to get us all more organized and
help the show run smoothly. I want to sincerely thank the committee and each of you for all the help and support
you provide each year!! It's the great members of this club that make the people want to come back again & again.
*All club members who help with the show will receive a free show T-shirt! Additional T-shirts for club members
will be $5.00.
As we approach the show I wanted to make sure everyone had a time line of what was going on both Sept 18th
and 19th so you can plan accordingly. We need the most help with parking cars, judging cars, set up and clean up. I
am looking forward to seeing you all on the 18th and 19th.

and its really easy to do. Anyone can do it and you don't have to be a car expert.

Car Show Things To Remember:
Please wear your club T-shirt and name tags on Saturday. If you bring your Mustang to the show, we will have a club display area in the grass,
however none of our club cars will be judged so we can focus on the participant’s cars. You can bring your car right up on the grass, as long
as you arrive prior to 6:30 AM. Please bring lawn chairs on the day of the show. Remember, we really need Judges so if you have friends/
family who can help judge please bring them along,. They will get a free T-shirt for helping us. After the awards we will need help cleaning up,
Anyone that can stay and help would be very much appreciated. The club will provide Soda and water for everyone working on both Friday
for set up and Saturday for the show, and will provide lunch on Friday and Saturday for those who come out and help. The show will go on
rain or shine! Please keep your fingers crossed for great weather, but either way we will need help the day of the show. Thanks All! I will see

August was a very busy car show month for DMC members! Following are highlights from some of the shows:
August 8th, Longmont—Several DMC members attended the Early Mustang Club’s Horsefeathers show, to assist with the
juding. Member Jeff Jacobucci won the Late Model Shelby class, with his beautiful ‘06 Shelby GTH, #102.
August 9th, Old Towne Arvada—Member John Marsico organized a very cool show at the old Scotchman’s drive-in. Gary
Coop, Mo Ravnik and Dave Rollo all won trophies.
August 15th, Palisade—DMC members Lary Coop, Gary Coop and Mo Ravnik attended the Just 4 Fun Car Show.
August 16th, Wheat Ridge—Colorado Stangs held their annual All Mustang Show. DMC members in attendance were Tim
Thiessen, Lisa Castillo, Ken Roth, Jim and Tammy Cosper, Marylee Wilson and your editor.
August 22nd, Hays, Kansas—DMC Member Rich Vaughn attended a cruise and show in Hays Kansas, and was rewarded with a
shot of his car in the local newspaper. See below.
August 29th , Front Range Airport—DMC members Mike Rhynard Sr., Mike Rhynard Jr., Terry Lewand, Mike Gleason, Wes
Thornton, Scott Mounce, Ken, Linda & Brook Smith, Danny Morris, Dolores Gallus, Rich Vaughn and Ken Laing all attended
the 5th Annual Classic Aircraft and Car Show. They got a great group shot, with a P-51 Mustang. See below.
While we’re on the subject of car shows, I was asked to pass along
a huge thank you to all DMC members that helped with the Rocky
Mountain Mustang Roundup. The RMMR planning committee
wants us all to know just how important we are to them. Yes, they
work very hard to organize everything, but without the member
clubs, there is no way they’d be able to put on such a fabulous
event. Thanks to everyone that helped!
And don’t forget the premier car show of the year, Wild West
Auto Fest, September 19th at Clement Park! Please be sure to
come out and help us!

WWAF Is Here!
September is upon us and a touch of crispness is in the
air hinting that fall is just around the corner. For DMC
members September signals that it is time for the Wild
West Auto Fest, our premier car show event held at
beautiful Clement Park in Littleton. A lot of work goes
into hosting a car show of this magnitude. Ken Smith,
Jerry Jones and Mike Rhynard Jr. have been hard at
work since last year’s show preparing for this year’s
event. Great big thanks to them for the countless hours
they have put in. Also thanks to our leads and chairpersons that keep the WWAF running smoothly before
and on the day of the event. Now the opportunity for
every DMC member to contribute is here. Hopefully
you had the chance to sign up to help at a membership
meeting. If not speak to a board member at this
month’s meeting. We will be happy to assign you to a
task. Help is needed throughout the day, and any time you can volunteer is appreciated. Additionally it
is a fun venue to work, providing the opportunity to see hundreds of amazing vehicles while hanging
out with your DMC buddies. In appreciation for helping you will receive a free WWAF T-shirt. We
will take whatever you can give, a couple of hours on Saturday, or from set up on Friday to tear down
on Saturday afternoon. Over my three years in the club I have had the opportunity to sell t-shirts,
helped direct traffic on the grass, enter data during registration and assist with clean up. Last year I
helped from set up on Friday thru clean up on Saturday (and had a blast). So come on over to the
show, and a big thanks in advance for all your help.
ATTENTION WWAF WORKERS
If you are already signed up to work the WWAF, or you intend on coming out to help, you will receive
a free WWAF T-shirt. Certain procedures will need to be followed to insure we get you your shirt in
appreciation of your help. There will be a check in sheet, similar to our member meeting check in
sheet, on the food table under the pop up tent. When you arrive (or sometime during your stay, as
early morning workers will go right to work), check in on the WWAF sign in sheet and indicate what
size T-shirt you would like. T-shirts are generally distributed at the October membership meeting, at
which time we will have you initial that you received your shirt. Can’t make the October meeting,
don’t worry we will hang onto your shirt for you. Thanks again for all you do, and for being a member
of the DMC.

Race Horses

Friday, August 14th, we did it! We actually got to run a complete evening of racing without any rain! DMC racers
present included Jeff Jacobucci, Mike Rhynard Jr., Steve Katz, Jack Hawkins, Joe Lewand and your editor, along
with a few non-members that regularly race with us.
We also gained a new member that evening, Neil Townley. Neil had been to couple of meetings as a visitor, and
was planning on coming to the DMC meeting that night to join the club. Luckily he checked our website, and discovered that there was no meeting due to Club Clash. So he came out to the track and joined on the spot! Neil
is an experienced drag racer, and ended up going to the fourth round, in a Taurus he had just purchased. We
can’t wait to see how he does in his regular racer, a wicked little Mustang II!
Jim and Tammy Cosper, Nancy Hawkins, Sam Mazzucca and Marylee Wilson came out to root for us. We had a
great night, enjoyed some pizza, and even got to use some duct tape. More on that in a moment.
The real story of the night is Mike Rhynard, Jr. As some of you know, Mike’s car had issues with the tune all last
season, and as a result he wasn’t able to race it. This spring he got his tuning problems ironed out, got to make
one good run in the car, and hurt the transmission. He has spent the majority of the summer chasing one problem after another with his tranny. So, he was pretty excited when the shop told him the car would be ready the
afternoon of the 14th. He took off work a bit early, picked up the car, and didn’t make it very far when a line
blew of off the transmission. Back to the shop for a quick fix. Mike finally made it to the track, and the tranny
held together! But he noticed that the car still wasn’t running as well as it should. A little investigation revealed
that there was a hole in the bottom of his Explorer intake, that had been taped over a couple of years ago when
the intake was painted. The tape had finally given way, and Mike was losing all of the boost from his supercharger.
We assessed the situation, rummaged through various trunks and toolboxes, and came up with a solution that
would put MacGyver to shame! A wire nut, some painter’s tape, the obligatory duct tape and a strip of rubber
were all it took to get Mike’s car running properly again. It must have worked, as Mike went on to the quarterfinals, one of 6 cars left out of a field of nearly 200! So, he finally got to truly enjoy his car, and got a trophy too.
It’s been a long time coming for you, Mike, congratulations!

Denver Mustang is currently tied for 7th place in the 5-man team
points race. The next two Club Clashes are this Friday, September 11th, and Friday, September 25th. Come out
and race with us, or at least come to cheer us on!
Pony Rides

Colorado Stangs will be holding their annual 9/11 Remembrance Poker Run this Sunday, September 13th. This
run raises funds for Operation Gratitude, which provides CARE packages to deployed service members. They’ve
picked out a great route this year, with some fun canyon runs! Registration begins at 8:00 AM, and the run will
begin at 9:00AM. Meet at Flatirons Mall, behind the theater, in the SW corner of the mall area. Come out and
support this excellent cause, and give your pony a chance to carve some curves! For details, download the flyer,

Modifications: Ported supercharger, upgrade pulleys, cold air
intake, Magnaflow exhaust, a custom tune, full sub-frame connector’s 18’’ SVT replica wheels with 275 front and 315 rear tires.
Power: 502HP 542TQ
In September 2002 when the 2003 Cobra’s were introduced with
the supercharger and 6-speed transmission we knew we had to
have one. Our salesman from Phil Long called us saying that they
had just gotten a 2003 redfire cobra with tan inserts. That night we
went to the dealership to look at the car. It was still sitting where
the delivery truck had dropped it in the back gravel lot. We ended
up taking the car home the next day. This is our third Cobra behind a 1993 black coupe and a 2001 black convertible. The car was kept stock except for an exhaust and intake for the first several years, sense then it has gone
through several power levels ranging between the stock 390 RWHP to today’s 502 RWHP. The car is still very
street able and is the car Joe learned how to drive a stick shift.
Mark the Date—Denver Mustang Club’s Fall Brunch
We’ll be heading back to a favorite location for our Fall Brunch, The Sunbird Restaurant in Colorado Springs, 230
Point of the Pines Drive. The brunch will be on Sunday, October 4th. We are going to meet at the Castle Rock
Outlet Stores in the lot next to the McDonald’s at 9:00 AM, and caravan down from there. If you’d prefer to just
meet us at the restaurant, we’ll be there at about 10:15 AM. Usual cost is $24.50 per person, but the club will pick
up half of that, so the cost will be $12.25 per person.

The club has a couple of great looking banners, thanks to member Mark Gomez, and his company, Signal Graphics.
Make sure you check them out at Wild West Auto Fest, they look awesome! If you need any printing or graphics
done, give Mark a call!
Columbine Fundraiser
Sammie Jones is selling Columbine High School Discount cards for $15. She is raising funds for the Gymnastics
Team. There several discounts for the Arvada / Lakewood area, and some that are for several locations. There’s
good assortment of companies, from restaurants and auto services to ski rentals and bowling. If you are interested
in one of these cards, please contact Wendy Jones via e-mail waddles86@juno.com.

Clive Cussler Museum
Come see some very cool cars with us Saturday, September 26th, at the Clive Cussler museum, 14959 W 69th
Ave in Arvada, at 10:00AM. Cost is $5. There are about 100 classic cars on display, including several that were
featured in Mr. Cussler’s books. Afterwards, we’ll be heading to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch!
