ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The College of New Rochelle, (CNR) situated on a picturesque campus in a suburb of
New York, is a contemporary Catholic women’s college. A short train ride brings you
to the heart of the most amazing city in the world - New York City!
Founded in 1904 as the first Catholic college for women in New York State, CNR offers
a Liberal Arts curriculum, as well as several professional and pre-professional programs.
Small class sizes allow you to work closely with dedicated faculty who are leaders in
their field of study.
Thousands of young women who graduated from The College of New Rochelle have
gone on to realize their dreams as company presidents, lawyers, television producers,
scientists, teachers, artists, politicians, and more. One of only 50 women’s colleges in the
United States, CNR will provide you a solid educational foundation and prepare you for
a leadership role in society.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Ursuline Leadership Program is an exciting opportunity for graduates of Ursuline
high schools to be a part of our CNR Community. As a student with previous experience
in an Ursuline educational environment, you will enrich our College Community with
that experience and commitment to faith. Ursuline leaders receive a special grant
for housing in campus residence halls.
Students from Ursuline high schools that have been accepted to The College of
New Rochelle are eligible to apply for the Ursuline Leadership Program. These
grant recipients will serve as peer educators and leaders, working with the Office of
Campus Ministry to enhance the Catholic and Ursuline mission of the College. This
program requires on-campus residency and the award of $8,000 is applied towards
housing costs.

CNR Students take part in peace and justice opportunities
Ursuline Leaders work with
Campus Ministry in four key areas:
SERVICE LEADERSHIP
Engage peers to take part in the various community service opportunities
at CNR. Assist in coordinating service
trips, Midnight Runs to New York City,
and the College’s annual Community
Service Day.
PEACE AND JUSTICE
Promote the social justice teachings
of the Church by facilitating programs
about hunger, homelessness, global
health, economic justice, and human
trafficking.
LITURGICAL MINISTRY
RETREAT LEADERSHIP
Contribute to CNR’s Holy Family
Chapel faith community by serving
as a sacristan minister coordinator,
cantor, chapel choir member, musician, or minister of hospitality.
Work with the Campus Ministry
team to develop unique and engaging retreat programs that help
peers reflect on and discern their
relationship with God.

“My experience as an Ursuline Leader
has been truly enlightening. I enjoy
my active role in Sunday Mass as
both a greeter and a lector.
I find that I am not only educating
others but enriching myself by
promoting issues of social justice. I
look forward to continuing my work
in ministry leadership.”
Ursuline Leader Anissa Figueroa, School of Arts & Sciences, Class of 2016
Anissa became passionate about issues of peace and justice as a high school
student at The Ursuline School in New York. Specifically, the issues of human
trafficking and fair trade have inspired her to desire to learn more about social
justice and to advocate for the marginalized.
