Spend the day canoeing the Au Sable River
Take time this autumn to enjoy the vibrant colors of God’s paintbrush while peacefully paddling down a treasure of
Northern Michigan, the Au Sable River.
Canoeing
As the cool air starts to settle
over Michigan and the colors
of fall begin to paint the
trees, there is no better way
to experience the symphony
of color and nature than to
paddle straight through it.
Without the distractions of a
busy life, one can simply
savor the golden and scarlet
hues of changing leaves contrasting with the tall green
pines. The AuSable River, a
pristine gem in Northern
Michigan, provides a relaxed
journey through this symphony of colors. Surrounded by
nature in the movement of
autumn, canoers are likely to
see beavers, muskrat, herons,
hawks, falcons, and possibly
even an eagle. This scenic
river nestled in the quiet
woods promises rest and
renewal.
Michigan Lore
Long before settlers came to
Michigan, there were people
native to the land who created rich stories that tell of the
creation of the land and all of
its features. We are left with
the legacy of their stories
with their colorful words and
fantastic tales. Sitting by a
fire with a warm drink, the
characters come alive with
