Web@aGlance/IT client allow
processes to be monitored
online and worldwide via intranet or Internet. This means
that higher-level information
systems possessing an
@aGlance interface can be
connected to SIMATIC PCS 7.
Accessing the IT environment
is simple with SIMATIC PCS 7.
Integration of field systems
Regardless of whether your
plant is equipped with classical or intelligent field devices,
SIMATIC PCS 7 is designed
for integrating field systems
into the process con-trol system. The intelligent field
devices can be integrated via
HART communication and
direct PROFIBUS communication. Bus-based field
devices are interfaced to
PCS 7 via international standards, PROFIBUS-DP/PA
(IEC 61 158). Redundant and
non-redundant connnections
are supported in this environment.
Direct integration of field
devices in the Ex (intrinsically
safe) zone can be accomplished using PROFIBUS-PA
without the need for additional
hardware. With PROFIBUSDP, an isolating transformer is
used for distributed I/O in the
hazardous area. The incorporation in the Ex zone is also
possible for classical field
devices and HART field
devices.
The SIMATIC PDM (Process
Device Manager) is a configuration tool that allows a single
point of entry from a central
engineering station to smart
devices located on any
PROFIBUS-DP/ PA or HART
network throughout the plant .
Communication standards
such as PROFIBUS and HART
open up the system for incorporating third-party components. Simple actuators and
sensors can be linked into the
system via AS-Interface or
building automation components using EIB instabus.
The configuration of automation functions is transparent to
the type of field devies being
used (conventional or smart
field devices).
Scaleability, flexibility and
openness
PCS 7 software was developed for process control systems, and the PCS 7 hardware leverages standard
SIMATIC components to
address rigorous plant
requirements. Users can:
• Select from various, powerful automation systems
depending on the project
and plant requirements
• Incorporate distributed and
central I/O step-by-step
SITRANS F
• Extend operation and monitoring from a single-user
starter system up to a distributed multi-user system
with client/server architecture
• Extend the functionality of
the operator stations by adding various software and
hardware functions.
These features increase the
scaleability and variety of possible extensions with SIMATIC
PCS 7, allowing a cost-effective solution to be developed
which is tailored to meet the
specific functional requirements of your plant.
For users with basic system
requirements, a "PCS 7 Starter
Package" is available comprised of a combined engineering/operator station and
an automation system.
The Starter Package need
only be supplemented by the
required I/O.

The operator stations are connected to the Industrial Ethernet system bus using either a
communications processor or
a simple LAN card (Basic
Communication Ethernet for
max. 8 stations). A multi-user
system consists of operator
terminals (clients) which
access data from OS servers
via an OS-LAN. The OS-LAN
can be integrated in the system bus, or can operate independenly (Ethernet with
TCP/IP) on a dedicated network (terminal bus).
PCS 7 Starter Package
The new PCS 7 Starter Package is ideal for use in small
plants, in colleges for educational purposes, and in training environments. The package offers the full scope of
PCS 7 features and functions
with a limited system size of
approximately 250 tags. The
system is ready-to-use, combines a powerful, preinstalled
PC for use as an engineering
and operator station, an
AS 414-3 automation system
(including CPU, Rack, Power
Supply, etc.), and all required
licenses.
Intrinsically-safe operator
panels are available for
deployment in potentially
explosive atmo-spheres of
zone 1 and 2, and can be connected to an operator station
at a distance of up to 1000 m.
The Starter Package is a fully
operational SIMATIC PCS 7
system, and can be extended
and integrated into an existing

Plant data can be distributed
between several servers with
seamless, transparent access
via multi-client operator stations. This allows the plant to
be divided into several process units, where each unit
can have its own OS server.
The advantage of distributed
systems is the decoupling of
SIMATIC PCS 7 permits the
access of a multi-client up to
6 servers or 6 redundant pairs
of servers.
Each server/pair of servers
can communicate with up to
16 clients. If multi-VGA cards
are used in the clients
(of which 2 or 4 process monitors can be connected per client), the number of clients per
server is correspondingly
smaller, e.g. 8 clients with
2 process monitors each.

Operation and monitoring
■ OS control system software
The OS control system software provides the basic data
and functionality of a typical
Distributed Control System
(DCS) operator station. This
software is available based on
the number of variables, and
can be adapted to meet plant
requirements.
The graphical user interface is
designed for ergonomic and
intuitive operations. Plant
operators can quickly see an
overview of the process and
then navigate easily between
the detailed plant views.
Events can be acknowledged
quickly, and the required
operator inputs can be carried
out easily and rapidly, facilitating safe plant operation.
The use of data/interface
standards such as OPC, OCX
or ODBC, as well as Web
func-tions permit access to
external applications.
■ OS options
The OS control system software includes:
tem layout shows the status of
each monitored bus station.
The Split Screen Wizard is an
assistant with which application-specific user interfaces
for process visualization,
screen resolution, and multimonitor mode can be set
interactively. The multi-monitor mode used with the
optional multi-VGA graphics
card, can support up to
4 screens.
The Message Wizard generates the System and Process
alarm messages automatically, allowing them to be presented in various views during
runtime (Active Alarm List,
Deactivated, Acknowledged,
Alarm History, Operator
Action Journal, etc.). The system can also be configured
using the Message Wizard so
that an optional signal module
drives external signal sources
(alarm horn), with up to
3 distinct signals.
The Picture Tree Manager
supports the configuration of
the process display (picture)
hierarchy. During runtime the
operator can scroll thru the
picture hierarchy for rapid and
intuitive navigation of the system.
The Curve Wizard can be
used to configure historical
and/or real-time trends during
online operation.
The Sign-of-Life function monitors the operating status of all
subordinate systems (such as
CPUs) that are connected to
the plant bus. A graphical sys-

monitoring throughout the network. Different plant areas
can be recorded by several
video cameras and simultaneously monitored online by
superimposing video pictures
within the application running
on the operator station.
For example, in an overview
display, you can monitor the
status of a sequence program
by opening the step and transition displays, which portray
the dynamics of the SFC operation. SFC charts configured
in the engineering system are
transferred to the operator
station for visualization within
the HMI without any additional
configuration necessary.
The OS option packages
allows customization of the
operator station to meet individual user requirements.
Long-term storage of the data
recorded by the operator stations can be achieved automatically using the Storage
function. Such data include
reports as well as message
and measured-value
archives. Automatic exporting
can be set up according to a
time cycle or a predefined
level of disk space usage.
If several GUIs are required
on one operator terminal, up
to 4 process monitors can be
configured on one terminal
using multi-VGA graphics
cards.
A chipcard reader can be
used to provide an additional
level of security for controlling
user access to the operator
stations. Different levels of
access privileges can be created and are verified with the
chipcard. If necessary, an
additional password can be
configured for extended
access protection.

■ Engineering system
The central engineering system of SIMATIC PCS 7 contains tools which are compatible with all Siemens system
components and can be used
for:
• hardware and field device
configuration
• communication networks
configuration
• configuration of continu-ous
and sequential process
operations
• operation design and monitoring strategies
• recipe generation for batch
processes.
The open engineering system
means that project data can
be imported from CAD/CAE
tools or transmitted to them.
Engineers as well as technologists can program, plan and
configure in the environment
they are familiar with by utilzing the predefined blocks and
plans with the configuring
tool.
Typical automation components such as motors, valves
and PID controllers are available as software objects and
can be connected together as
defined in the process operations. These connections are
created in the pixel graphics
mode in SIMATIC PCS 7 and
are simple enough for someone without programming
experience to complete.For
efficient processing of bulk
engineering tasks, data can
be imported/exported using
programs such as Microsoft
Excel or Access.
A uniform database for the
engineering system ensures
that data which has been
entered once is accessible by
all tools throughout the system. For example, display and
message information is
already available when configuring the process
sequences and can be used
when designing the operator
station without any additional
data entry.
The multi-functional common
engineering tool and plantwide configuring offers the

Engineering Tools
A complete set of Engineering
Tools are provided for configuring SIMATIC PCS 7:
STEP 7 is a universal development environment for developing and configuring your automation solution. The SIMATIC
Manager of STEP 7 is the standard SIMATIC configuration
interface and is the launching
point for all PCS 7 configuration tasks. The PCS 7 project is
managed, archived and documented in the SIMATIC Manager. The SIMATIC Manager
provides a selection of
required hardware from an
electronic catalog as well as
tools for configuring the automation systems, I/O and network components.
An application (project) can be
displayed and arranged in a
heirarchical view, the plant
hierarchy, corresponding to
the actual layout of the plant or
process. The parts of a project
are grouped logically according to the plant structure so
that the process engineer has
a clear overview of the project.
The plant view is created during configuration of the control
strategy and can be used to
automatically derive the HMI
process display heirarchy and
navigation structure, eliminating the need to engineer twice.
The plant view is also used for
plant-oriented identification of
process objects.
Process Graphic displays can
be generated automatically
from the control system configuration. HMI elements, such as
symbols and faceplates, corre-
sponding to Continuous Function Chart (CFC) blocks are
automatically positioned in the
graphic display and automatically linked to the control strategy.
Continuous Function Chart
(CFC) is the tool for graphic
configuring of continuous
automation functions. Predefined function blocks are
positioned, configured and
connected on CFCs – supported by powerful features
such as autoconnection of
block inputs/outputs and an
integral HMI message configuring function. CFC additionally offers – just like other
PCS 7 software components –
comprehensive testing, simulation and commissioning
functions.
Sequential Function Chart
(SFC) is a graphical configuration tool that is used to define
sequences (in continuous processes) and phases (in batch
processes). Sequential control
strategies can be graphically
displayed in a simple manner.
Single actions such as "drag &
drop" and filling in of simple
forms are used to set the
desired CFC block connections and connect them to the
steps or transitions of the
sequencers. Powerful test and
commissioning functions as
well as convenient editing
functions provide additional
support.
Structured Control Language
(S7-SCL) is a high-level language similar to PASCAL for
programming custom user
function blocks according to
IEC 61131-3. The user blocks
are integrated seamlessly into
the system and can be used
like standard function blocks in
the CFC.

Engineering
The Import/Export Assistant
is a tool for replicating common configuration elements
(like motors and valves)
throughout an application.
It significantly shortens the
configuration time by importing already configured plant
data into the engineering
system and automatically
generating tags. Existing
CFCs can be exported and
also re-imported. Specific
connections to I/O or between
control elements (CFCs) can
be setup automatically using
this tool.
Standardized Process Control
(I&C) libraries containing preconfigured, tested function
blocks, faceplates and symbols permit effective implementation of automation solutions, and significantly reduce
engineering time – and subsequently the project costs. The
comprehensive range of over
200 blocks includes simple
logic and driver blocks, technological blocks with integral
operation and alarm functions
(PID controllers, motors or
valves), along with blocks for
integration of PROFIBUScompatible field devices.
The Driver Wizard automatically generates all blocks
which support the diagnostics
of I/O modules and I/O channels. These blocks handle
diagnostics of the hardware
channels and standardization
of these signals. The Driver
Wizard sup-ports all S7-400,
ET 200M, ET 200iS and
ET 200X modules as well as
PROFIBUS-PA.
The OS-Engineering for the
PCS 7 operator stations is
tightly integrated into the
PCS 7 engineering system.
The project data is organized
by the SIMATIC Manager. All
process data relevant to operation and monitoring, e.g.
messages and variables, is
generated automatically when
the automation function is
defined. WinCC, a powerful
HMI software package, has
graphics editors that can be
used to create customized
process displays. Generic
process displays can be generated directly from the control strategy.
8
Siemens ST PCS 7 · 2002
The PCS 7 Faceplate
Designer is used for rapid,
simple creation of custom
OS faceplates. Once created,
it is possible to use customerspecific faceplates in addition
to the standard OS faceplates
for operation and monitoring
of measuring points or plant
components, e.g. motors,
valves, controllers, measured
values.
DOCPRO is a tool that
enables you to save a lot of
time when documenting your
configuration. In PCS 7
projects, DOCPRO generates
plant documentation automatically in accordance with predefined standards and templates, or according to your
special requirements. The
generation can be defined as
a print order, and then started.
When configuring fail-safe
systems, the F-Tool (S7 F systems) is used to automatically
supplement user-defined
CFCs by the functions
required for fault detection
and response. The tool additionally provides supporting
functions such as the comparison or acceptance of fail-safe
programs (see page14).
The new PCS 7 PID-Tuner
integrated in the CFC determines optimum control
parameters for the PID, PI and
P controllers of a loop in
defined steps. The PCS 7 PIDTuner can be used for the
CTRL_PID and CTRL_S software controllers as well as for
the FM 355 C/S controller
modules.
Controlled systems with or
without an integral component
can be optimized; optimization can be carried out in manual or automatic mode. In
order to test the determined
controller parameters, the
transient response of the controllers can be checked by
carrying out step changes.
The derived parameters can
be saved and recalled as
required.
During determination of the
control parameters, the typical controller values (actual
value, setpoint, manipulated
variable) can be recorded
using a curve function.

■ SIMATIC PDM –
parameterization tool for
field devices
SIMATIC PDM (Process
Device Manager) is a central
tool integrated into the PCS 7
system and is used for configuring, parameterization, calibration, commissioning and
diagnostics of intelligent process devices. SIMATIC PDM
enables you to configure a
large number of process
devices, even those from
other vendors, using a uniform
interface. This results in lower
costs for investment, staff
training, and other follow-up
expenditure.
SIMATIC PDM can also be
used as a stand-alone version
on a personal computer or
programmer with Windows
95/98 or Windows NT/2000.
The display of the device
parameters and functions is
uniform for all supported process devices, and independent of their communications
interface, e.g. via PROFIBUSDP/PA or the HART protocol.
Core functions of SIMATIC
PDM are the adjustment,
modification, plausibility testing, management and simulation of process device data. In
addition, SIMATIC PDM also
permits online monitoring of
selected values, alarms and
status signals of the device.
Graphical user interface
The SIMATIC PDM graphical
user interface complies with
the VDI/VDE GMA 2187 and
IEC 65/349/CD guidelines.
Complex devices with several
hundred parameters can be
processed clearly and rapidly.
The user interface supports
several views:
• Hardware project view
• Process device network
view for stand-alone application
• Process device plant view
as tag-based view, also with
display of diagnostics information
• Parameter view for parameterization of field devices
(see picture above)
In addition the ability to create
an online/offline parameter
comparison table makes it
easy to configure multiple
devices with the same characteristics.
Communication
SIMATIC PDM supports several communication protocols
and components for communication with the following
devices:
• Devices with PROFIBUS-DP
interface
• Devices with PROFIBUS-PA
interface
• Devices with HART interface
• Devices with Siemens special interface
Routing
When SIMATIC PDM is
deployed on a central engineering station it can access
all field devices in the plant,
even when they are located
on different networks or
PROFIBUS segments.
Using SIMATIC PDM centrally
provides the ability:
• to read diagnostics information from the field devices,
• to modify device settings,
• to generate simulated values in the field device, or
• to modify the field device
parameters.
Device integration
SIMATIC PDM supports
field devices that comply with
the PROFIBUS-PA profile
descriptions provided by
PROFIBUS International
(PNO), and field devices
which are described by an
Electronic Device Description
(EDD).
PROFIBUS devices are
described by the Electronic
Device Description Language
(EDDL) specified by the PNO.
SIMATIC PDM automatically
creates its graphical user
interface using these descriptions. Based on EDDL, new
process devices from
Siemens and other vendors
are continuously being integrated into SIMATIC PDM.
The HART field devices
described by the Device
Description Language
(HART-DDL) are integrated
using the currently available
HCF catalog in SIMATIC PDM.
HART-DDL is a guideline of
the HCF (Hart Communication
Foundation). These guidelines are standardized, multivendor applicable, and very
widely accepted. HART field
devices are incorporated into
SIMATIC PDM via EDD.
SIMATIC PDM's device catalog currently comprises more

Communication
■ Communication
with SIMATIC NET
Communication within
SIMATIC PCS 7 utilizes the
SIMATIC NET networking
components. Based on
proven worldwide standards,
a communication concept is
offered which guarantees
reliable data transfer between
all levels and locations within
a plant.
All SIMATIC NET products
have been specially developed for industrial applications, and are optimized for all
industries and plants.
The network components
meet high standards, especially in areas where the components are subject to external influences, such as
interfering electromagnetic
fields, corrosive liquids and
atmospheres, explosion
hazards, contamination or
mechanical loads.
The SIMATIC NET buses promote uniform, trouble-free
communication between all
system components: engineering stations, operator stations, automation systems, I/O
and field components.
Industrial Ethernet communication is typically used for the
system bus. When integrated
in small systems, it allows
■ Fast Ethernet technology
Fast Ethernet is the industrial
high-speed network of the
future. It is compatible with
existing 10-Mbit/s Ethernet
installation, it is an open standard for data communication
between different vendors,
and it is one of the most frequently used 100-Mbit/s networks.
The data format and access
procedures are the same as
with the existing Ethernet.
Industrial twisted pair (ITP)
and fiber-optic (FO) cables
can be used and existing
IT technical expertise can be
leveraged. This significantly
reduces the costs and the
work load associated with
Fast Ethernet implementation.

State-of-the-art Fast Ethernet
technology is used with
SIMATIC PCS 7 to meet high
data throughput demands in
medium- and large-sized
plants, while providing all the
advantages of a high communication speed of 100 Mbit/s,
switching technology, and the
reliability of redundant optical

The optical switch module
OSM® has two 100-Mbit/s
fiber-optic connections and
six 10/100-Mbit/s ITP connections. The fiber-optic ports are
used to create a 100-Mbit/s

PROFIBUS-DP/PA, which
complies with the international
standard IEC 61158, is used
for the I/O bus and for field
device connections, respectively. Both implementations
allow the connection of busbased field devices in potentially explosive areas. This
enables production sectors to
be equipped with absolutely
uniform, consistent communication from all automation
levels; from the field level up
to the operations management level.
The SIMATIC NET switches
also provide redundancy
management and network
management capabilities. In a
redundant ring configuration,
a network failure can be
bypassed (via an alternate
route) in less than 0.3 s. Fast
Ethernet enables cost-effective migration from a 10 Mbit/s
to a 100 Mbit/s network by
facilitating continued use of
existing networking components. Network management
capabilities can be configured quickly and easily using
SNMP.

■ PROFIBUS-DP/PA fieldbus
PROFIBUS-PA takes advantage of the concept of distributed "smart" devices associated with fieldbus technology.
It is applicable to numerous
industries such as the chemical and pharmaceutical
industries, pulp and paper,
food and beverage and in
power plant automation to
name a few. Details include:
• Uniform, modular system
from sensors up to the control level permits new plant
design and operations concepts
• Problem-free replacement of
field devices (meeting standards) including those from
third party vendors
• Networking of transmitters,
valves, actuators etc.
• Implementation of intrinsically-safe applications by
using the fieldbus directly in
hazardous areas (requires
no additional barriers or
power supplies)
• Simple installation using
two-wire cable for both the
supply of power and for data
transmission
• Reduced cabling costs from
savings in material and
installation expenditures
• Reduced configuring costs
by centralized engineering
of the field devices
(PROFIBUS-PA and HART
with SIMATIC PDM, also
cross-vendor)
• Fast, fault-free assembly
• Low maintenance costs due
to simpler wiring and plant
structure as well as facilities
for comprehensive diagnostics
• Greatly reduced commissioning costs resulting from
simplified loop check
• Scaling/digitalization of
measured values already in
the field device; no rescaling
necessary in SIMATIC PCS 7
Benefits:
7
Reduced hardware requirements
7
Shorter commissioning time
7
Problem-free repair
7
Cost-effective engineering
7
Increased operational reliability
Principle of operation
PROFIBUS-DP/PA transition
PROFIBUS-PA is the
process control extension of
PROFIBUS-DP for direct connection of actuators and sensors into SIMATIC PCS 7.
PROFIBUS-PA uses the same
communications protocol as
PROFIBUS-DP; the communications services and telegrams are identical. However
the RS 485 transmission
technology used in the
PROFIBUS-DP has been
replaced in the PROFIBUS-PA
by the transmission technology according to IEC 61158.
This technology is an international standard, and can also
be used for intrinsically-safe
applications.
To achieve a seamless transition between the different
transmission technologies
of PROFIBUS-DP and
PROFIBUS-PA, the SIMATIC
product line offers two gateways: DP/PA coupler and
DP/PA link.
With PROFIBUS-PA, information and the power supply are
transmitted on a two-wire
cable. When using in hazardous areas, the PA bus and all
connected devices must be
designed with the type of protection called "Intrinsicallysafe".
The uniform communication
protocol of PROFIBUS-DP
and PROFIBUS-PA allows
simple interfacing of the two
networks, increasing system
performance and inherentlysafe transmission. PROFIBUS
is the first fieldbus system
which satisfies the requirements of both highspeed and
lowspeed applications (such
as factory automation and
process automation) with one
single communications protocol.
Their respective application
depends on the plant size,
bus architecture, bus speed
requirements, and the automation system used:
• The DP/PA coupler is used
to connect a single PA segment where there are low
data throughput requirements for the DP bus
• The DP/PA link can connect
multiple PA segments and is
used where there are high
data throughput requirements for the DP bus.
DP/PA link
The DP/PA link is a simple
gateway which connects
the PROFIBUS-DP and
PROFIBUS-PA bus systems
together while segregating
the transmission rates (like an
Ethernet switch).
This means that PROFIBUSDP and PROFIBUS-PA can be
joined without influencing the
data throughput capabilities
of PROFIBUS-DP (12 Mbit/s
possible).
The DP/PA link permits the
design of large plants with
comprehensive addressing
volumes and high bandwidth
requirements. The DP/PA link
can be operated on
PROFIBUS-DP standard
masters.

Automation
■ Fault-tolerant automation
systems
Fault-tolerant and high-availability automation systems are
used to minimize or eliminate
production failures. The
higher the costs resulting from
loss of production, the more
important a fault-tolerant system becomes. The initial
investment is far smaller than
the costs resulting from production stoppages.
The AS 414 H and AS 417 H
models are the fault-tolerant
automation systems for use
with SIMATIC PCS 7. These
fully redundant 1-out-of-2 systems reduce the probability of
production failures by seamlessly switching from the primary to backup system in the
event of a failure.
The automation system has a
redundant internal design to
maximize availability. Redundancy means that all major
components such as CPU,
power supply and hardware
for coupling the two CPUs are
mirrored. The level of redundancy in the automation system can be tailored to meet
the availability requirements
of your individual plant or process.
■ Packaging system
A redundant automation system can be installed mechanically in a one- or two-rack
architecture. Automation systems can be installed in two
standalone racks, for example, if both sides of the redundant system have to be physically separated from one
another by a fire-resistant
wall.
The S7-REDCONNECT software package is used to allow
the operator station(s) to communicate with the primary and
backup automation systems
seamlessly. Mixed operation
with redundant and single
systems is also possible.
The SIMATIC PCS 7 includes
an optional cabinet packaging system for the automation
systems and distributed I/Os.
The basic cabinet is a
Siemens standard cabinet
8MC with degree of protection
IP 40. Degree of protection
IP 55 is also available. This is
supplied complete with
framework, door, outer walls,
internal mechanics, transport
lugs and pocket for circuit diagrams. Options include side
walls and partitions, power
supply subrack, socket,
I&C monitoring, and plinth.
The cabinets comply with the
guidelines for electromagnetic compatibility specified
in the EMC law. They additionally provide exceptional protection against unauthorized
interventions, mechanical
effects, contamination and
corrosion. The cabinets can
be readily adapted to different
types of plants due to their
modular design.

Fail-safe automation
■ Fail-safe automation
systems
Fail-safe automation systems
(F systems) are used to
reduce the risk of an accident
in critical applications where a
fault has a high consequences such as loss-of-life,
plant damage, or environmental pollution. These systems
detect process faults as well
as internal faults, and automatically set the plant to a
safe status in the event of a
fault. PCS 7 F systems have
been approved by the independent institute TÜV (Technical Inspectorate).
The new fail-safe automation
system is based on the faulttolerant AS 414 H or AS 417 H
automation systems, allowing
elements of standard plant
automation and safety engineering to be combined into
one system.
The safety functions of the
F systems are present in the
F program of the CPU and in
the fail-safe SM 326 F and
SM 336 F I/O modules for
ET 200M. The new ProfiSafe
protocol is used for safetyoriented communication
between CPU and I/O via
PROFIBUS-DP.
Standard I/O modules can be
used in an F system in addition to the specialized fail-safe
I/O modules. Process automation and Safety Systems
are configured and programmed using the same
standard tools and interfaces.
Commonality of hardware and
configuration tools for safety
and process control applications minimizes training and
spare inventory requirements.
■ Fail-safe processing
in one CPU
In the past, the basic feature
of an F system, the fault
detection, was implemented
using two CPUs which permanently checked themselves
for correct operation. In contrast to fault-tolerant systems
where structural redundancy
is used to increase the availability, two-channel redundancy is used just for fault
detection.
Today, the F system uses the
innovative concept of redundant, diverse command processing. Using just one CPU,
this permits the same fault

– Checksum for F functions
– Comparison function
– Access for F functions is password protected
detection as previously done
with two CPUs (TÜV certificate
up to SIL3, IEC 61508 or AK6,
VDE 0801).
The safety function, written by
the user in the CFC, is processed twice in different parts
of the CPU, once in positive
logic and secondly in an alternate location. Faults are
detected by comparing the
two results. The implementation of fault detection using
software means that a standard AS 400 CPU (the
AS 414 H or AS 417 H)
can also be used for safety-
oriented applications, and a
complex interface to a separate F system is not required.
If a process requires fail-safe
features and high availability
within the automation system,
then an FH system can be
architected which features a
completely redundant design.

■ Engineering with
F-Tool (S7 F systems)
■ F communication
using ProfiSafe profile
■ F modules
The fail-safe automation systems are based on the faulttolerant system (H) hardware.
The figure below shows the
numerous design variations
for fail-safe systems, with all
versions complying with the
safety class SIL 3 (IEC 61508)
or AK 6 (VDE 0801).
The F-Tool (S7 F Systems)
software package integrated
in the SIMATIC Manager is
used to configure an F system. This tool can be used to
parameterize the CPU and
F system I/O modules and to
generate fail-safe applications in CFC. Predefined
blocks approved by the TÜV
are available for configuration
of fail-safe applications. This
eliminates the need to recreate these fail safe blocks.
The application program may
be a combination of fail-safe
(F) and non-fail-safe standard
components (S), where strict
isolation of F and S program
components together with
data exchange via special
conversion blocks prevent
conflict or interaction.
grams, e.g. a reference sum
for the F program with which
even minimum changes are
immediately detected. This
reference sum is recorded
during the TÜV acceptance.
Access privileges using passwords supplement the software package functions, and
guarantee simple, safe operation.
Safety-oriented communication as well as standard communication between fail-safe
automation systems (F-AS)
and the fail-safe I/O modules
is conducted via standard
PROFIBUS-DP with the addition of safety telegram, better
known as the PROFISafe profile. F-AS and fail-safe (F) signal modules are able to
recognize falsification of the
useful data and trigger appro-
priate fault reactions. For
example, the outputs of failsafe output modules are
switched off immediately. In
addition, timeout monitoring
of communication is carried
out using a selectable monitoring time.
In contrast to the CPU in the
F system, each individual
F system I/O module has a
completely redundant internal
design. Internal comparson
functions guarantee fault
detection up to safety class
SIL3 (IEC 61508) or AK6(VDE
0801).
The principle of operation of
digital and analog input modules is similar; two channels
are mutually checked for
equivalence within a specified
discrepancy time (2-out-of-2
evaluation). If the module
detects a difference between
the two channels, it automatically triggers a safety
response.
Additional features include
the ability to compare F programs as well as support for
the acceptance of F pro-
Since the safety functions are
implemented using software,
no additional hardware components are required.
Standard communication and
safety-oriented communication are therefore carried out
on the same hardware platform (over the same wires).
Fail-safe systems can be created in a distributed architecture permitting safe communication to a degree which was
previously only possible using
hardwired connections.
The digital output module has
a second switch-off mechanism which guarantees safe
switching off in the event that
the output is faulty. In addition
to these basic functions, the
modules have further internal
and external diagnostics
functions which also guarantee the plant's safety should
the CPU fail.

I/O
■ I/O
The SIMATIC ET 200 Distributed I/O stations are used for
connecting field devices to
SIMATIC PCS 7. The I/O are
connected to the automation
system via the PROFIBUS-DP
fieldbus. There is a high
degree of flexibility when
designing the I/O architecture. I/O modules can be
located centrally (in a central
electronics room or equipment room) or they can be
located remotely (in remote
switchrooms, or out in the field
closest to the device).
Possible I/O architectures
depend on the application
and environment.
SIMATIC ET 200M
The ET 200M distributed I/O
stations use modules exclusively from the SIMATIC
S7-300 product family.The
following types of module can
be used:
• Standard S7-300 I/O modules
• I & C modules with
increased functionality
• Ex input/output modules
• Controller modules
• HART modules
• F modules for fail-safe applications
ET 200M, ET 200iS, ET 200X,
PROFIBUS-PA, S7-400 I/O
An associated diagnostics
function block can be created
automatically for each module
in the system using the engineering tool CFC. The diagnostics data as well as the
corresponding drivers are
automatically incorporated
into the fault signalling function of the control system.
Selected features of the I/O
modules with diagnostics
capability include the display
of channel-related faults,
internal module monitoring,
diagnostics alarms, storage of
last value or connection of a
default value on failure of the
CPU or load power supply.
The modules can detect
channel faults and moduleinternal faults, and automatically signal these events to
the operator stations (OS).

Incorporation of intelligent
field devices
IIn addition to the central and
distributed I/O modules,
SIMATIC PCS 7 also supports
the incorporation of intelligent
field devices. This includes
both field devices with HART
protocol and also bus-based
devices via PROFIBUS-DP/
PROFIBUS-PA. This drastically reduces installation
investment since existing field
instrumentation is incorporated (not replaced) into the
SIMATIC PCS 7 system.
The SIMATIC PDM software
package is used, inter alia, to
parameterize the following
devices online or offline, to
configure them, and to start
them up:
• Field devices (DP/PA or
HART)
• ET 200iS
The PROFIBUS-DP/PA permits data exchange between
automation systems, distributed I/O and intelligent field
devices – with a minimum of
installation requirements. The
SIMATIC I/O modules and
function modules can be connected via the ET 200M or
installed directly into the automation system.
I/Os in hazardous area
The S7-300 Ex input/output
modules are available for the
automation of process control
applications. They isolate the
intrinsically-safe circuits in the
hazardous area from the nonintrinsically-safe circuits of the
automation system.
Possible I/O architectures
include:
• SIMATIC ET 200M is
installed in the safe area.
The actuators/sensors can
be located in the hazardous
area if appropriate modules
are used.
- Connection via
PROFIBUS-DP
- Transmission rate up to
12 Mbit/s
- Redundancy possible
• SIMATIC ET 200iS can be
directly installed in hazardous area zone 1 due to its
intrinsically-safe design.
Actuators/sensors can be
located in zone 1 or zone 0.
A connection via
PROFIBUS-DP with seriesconnected isolating transformer in the safe area has a
transmission rate up to
1.5Mbit/s.
• These two systems permit
hot swapping of individual
modules (design with active
bus modules for ET 200M;
swapping without fire certification for ET 200iS).

Batch processes
■ BATCH flexible
The SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system has
always offered a solution for
low-cost, effective implementation of batch processes.
Simple batch process automation, with parameterizable sequential controls, is
accomplished using the
SFC and CFC tools
included in the engineering
system.
BATCH flexible is the convenient solution for more
complex tasks with recipecontrolled operation. This
allows simple, flexible processing of complex tasks
that incorporate changing
control sequences. It supports recipe control in small
to large applications, and
can be adapted to meet
most user demands as a
result of its modular design.
BATCH flexible consists of
four integral components
which can all be executed on
one operator station:
7
The recipe system is
responsible for simple
graphic creation and management of any number of
recipes.
7
The batch control can process and visualize several
batches in parallel.
7
The batch data management acquires, saves, logs
and exports batch data.
7
The batch planning is the
tool for the planning of
batches and production
orders in list form.
The complete program package can be incorporated into
the SIMATIC PCS 7 system
environment with no additional hardware required.
A convenient graphic recipe

PCS 7 - BATCH flexible
In order to connect the process automation system into
the enterprise planning system, BATCH flexible interfaces with SAP R/3 PP-PI. SAP
sends production orders via a
certified interface to BATCH
flexible, which is able to return
BATCH-relevant data to SAP,
e.g. for material/maintenance
planning.
Validation
An increasing number of
plants require validation for
compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. The process control
system and the system manufacturer play an important role
in the validation process.
BATCH flexible packages are
well-structured to facilitate
compliance certification and
conformance to ISA S88.01.
Siemens, as a manufacturer of

For plant managers, information technology (IT), process
data management and production planning systems
have become important elements for reducing costs and
optimizing processes. These
elements will become
increasingly important in the
future. Efficient use of information technology and process
data management can
increase reaction time,
improve decision-making
ability, improve product quality and minimize raw material
useage.
@PCS 7 offers a simple, costeffective solution for remote
access to the process data
that resides in SIMATIC PCS 7
system.
The data can be displayed and
processed further on any computer using the standard software package @aGlance –
even via intranet/Internet.
An @aGlance server is integrated in every PCS 7 operator
station. To read the data,
the target PC requires a
Web@aGlance package and a
standard Web browser. For
writing and communication
with other @aGlance servers,
the operator station must have
a corresponding @aGlance
license.
Upon integration of
@aGlance/IT, the SIMATIC
PCS 7 can communicate with a
large number of software products for the plant management/
company management level.
@PCS 7 provides customers
with access via the @aGlance
interface to the PCS 7 operator
station data including the process data archives and messages.
An intelligent log-on procedure
provides the @aGlance product range with plug and play
interfacing while incorporating
security features. Security and
access privileges are programmed using a powerful
administration tool.
A further advantage of the
open architecture of the
@aGlance/IT client/server
technology is the ability to
select the operating systems
or applications on the server or
at the client end of the connec-
PCS 7 provides numerous
options for connection to the
IT environment so that the
benefits above can be realized. It provides an open system platform that allows fast
and simple integration of software packages which reside
at the plant management
level.
The OPC interface (OLE for
Process Control), which is
provided out-of-the box in the
PCS 7 operator stations, is an
industrial standard based on
the OLE (now Active X), COM
(Component Object Model)
and DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) technologies. These standards
allow multi-vendor exchange
of process data between various Windows applications
that often extends beyond the
limits of individual computers/
systems. The SIMATIC PCS 7
operator station can be the
data source for other applications when used as an OPC
server, or, as an OPC client,
access the data of other OPC
server applications. This
opens up enormous possibilities for communications and
exchange of information.

tion. The @aGlance implementation is independent of hardware, software and operating
system architecture. Thus, for
example a Unix server hosting
an IT application could communicate seamlessly with the

easy to interface with systems
that already exist in the company and ensures compatibility with future systems. As a
result, the cost-of-change is
minimized, and there is no

The OS servers themselves
can also be redundant. In
a system with redundant
OS servers, multi-client stations will switch transparently
from the primary to backup
server in the event of a system
failure. Additionally the process data and alarm messaging archives can be synchronized between OS servers
when one server is returned to
service. For higher availability, redundant OS Servers can
each be connected independently to both networks of a
redundant system bus (Industrial Ethernet).
Communication between individual automation systems
and to the operator stations/
engineering stations is carried
out via the Industrial Ethernet
system bus which can be
operated at 10 Mbit/s or
100 Mbit/s. The system bus is
usually designed with a ring
structure. To increase the
availability even further, a
redundant ring architecture
may be setup where each
individual station (AS, OS and
ES) has two separate connections, one to each network
ring.
The redundant AS 414 H and
AS 417 H automation systems
are each connected to the
system bus using an Ethernet
communications processor
(CP). To achieve a higher
level of redundancy, two CPs
can be used for each half of
the redundant pair, to allow
each individual AS to be connected to both networks of a
redundant system bus architecture.
Multiple PROFIBUS-DP lines
(from each side of a redundant pair) can be connected
to distributed I/O via the
onboard PROFIBUS-DP interfaces or by using additional
communications processors.
Central I/O can be inserted
into the AS 414 H/AS 417 H
subrack.
A redundant ET 200M distributed I/O system can be
created. The head of the
ET 200M station can contain
two redundant IM 153-2 modules, allowing a single I/O system to be connected to redundant PROFIBUS-DP networks.
The PROFIBUS-PA I/O can be
connected to redundant
PROFIBUS-DP networks
using a redundant DP/PA link
with two IM 157 modules.
To complete the redundancy
solution portfolio, the Y link
provides an option for connecting non-redundant
PROFIBUS-DP devices to
redundant PROFIBUS-DP networks.

SIMATIC IT Framework
■ SIMATIC IT Framework
The future for production
In order to successfully run a
company in the age of e-business, it is essential to optimize
the complete process chain,
i.e. to match, coordinate and
optimize the global processes
relevant to the business at all
company levels using e-manufacturing.
Effective e-manufacturing
means:
7
Global availability of all strategic information and production data
7
Increase in production efficiency
7
Improvement in flexibility
and consistency throughout
all distributed production
factories/areas
7
Optimization of companywide processes and costs
The key for e-manufacturing
with incorporation of the
SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system is SIMATIC IT
Framework.
SIMATIC IT Framework –
Complete solution for component-based production
management and application integration
Every level of business operates according to its own procedure: supply chain business processes are managed
by large enterprise resource
planning (ERP) systems and
control procedures are executed by programmable controllers, e.g. SIMATIC PCS 7.
In order that a plant is flexible
and responsive to the
demands of the supply chain,
both sets of processes must
be synchronized with all relevant activities in the plant.
This is the job of SIMATIC IT
Framework.
With SIMATIC IT Framework
we address both production
and IT oriented perspectives.
Core components of
SIMATIC IT Framework are:
• SIMATIC IT Production
Modeler
• SIMATIC IT Server
• SIMATIC IT Adapters
SIMATIC IT Adapters
SIMATIC IT Production
Modeler
SIMATIC IT Production Modeler is responsible for the
overall management of the
plant. It improves plant activities by coordinating and synchronizing the plant components. This is done in
accordance with Standard
ISA SP95 by executing the
production operation processes which describe the
cross-component processes.
Each step of a production
operation corresponds to the
function of a different component. Encapsulated components and integration scenarios are stored in reusable
libraries for rapid-prototyping
and low-cost porting of the
application.
SIMATIC IT Server
SIMATIC IT Server is responsible for data management
and the integration of the various applications. It provides
the distributed runtime environment for data transfer and
conversion, and for the execution of operating sequences.
SIMATIC IT Server collects
the data of the components
combined in SIMATIC IT
Framework, and makes them
available everywhere. If the
data of a component are
changed, SIMATIC IT Server
immediately updates all components which require these
data. Whether the internal
data types or structures are
different is irrelevant.
SIMATIC IT Adapters integrate applications within the
complete company, permitting vertical and horizontal
integration. SIMATIC IT Components can be involved, or
also external components
such as SIMATIC PCS 7 or
BATCH flexible (Batch
Mgmt.). Even applications
from other vendors or legacy
applications can be integrated.
SIMATIC IT Components
SIMATIC IT Components provide functionalities for production processes, e.g. Plant
Information Management
(SIMATIC IT Historian) or Plant
Maintenance Management
(SIMATIC IT Maintegrity).
These components are coordinated by SIMATIC IT Framework, or can be used as
stand-alone applications.

■ S7-400 modules
Order No.
Note:
Further I/O modules can be used – with limitations in the functions –
in addition to the SIMATIC components selected for SIMATIC PCS 7.
These include the complete current range of modules of the ET 200M
distributed I/O system with S7-300 signal modules and the S7-400
signal modules, as well as the ET 200 I/O modules which support the
SIMATIC S7 data format (ET 200S, ET 200X and ET 200L).
All process data from the I/Os are available for PCS 7 engineering in
the CFC and can be graphically linked to the signal names in the signal list. The diagnostics information is generated automatically when
using the I/O modules listed below.
Integration in SIMATIC PCS 7 is limited to the process data when
using other I/O components, i.e. the full range of diagnostics functions is not automatically available. These modules can therefore
only be used meaningfully in SIMATIC PCS 7 if it is permissible to
omit the diagnostics functions.

1) A mechanical isolation is required between the IM 153 interface module
and the first Ex I/O module. For the hot swapping function, an Ex partition
is installed which guarantees the prescribed isolation distance between
non-intrinsically-safe and intrinsically-safe areas of the ET 200M distributed
I/O system. Without the hot swapping function, the DM 370 dummy module
is fitted for this purpose.
2) The LK 393 cable duct guarantees the prescribed isolation between the
load voltage input and the intrinsically-safe inputs/outputs. The cable duct
is easy to fit following insertion of the load voltage inputs L+.

Software licenses
Software
Appendix
■ Software types
■ License key
Each software requiring licensing is assigned to a type. The following are defined as software types:
Siemens Automation & Drives offers software products with or
without a license key.
• Engineering software
• Runtime software
Engineering software
The license key serves as an electronic license stamp and is
simultaneously a "switch" for the software response (floating
license, rental license, ...).
This includes all software products for the generation (engineering) of application software, e.g. configuring, programming,
parameterization, testing, startup or service.
In the case of software requiring a license key, the complete
installation includes the program to be licensed (the software)
and the license key (the license representative).
Duplication of the data or executable programs generated using
the engineering software for own use or use by third parties is
free-of-charge.
Runtime software
This includes all software products required for operation of
plants or machines, e.g. operating system, basic system, system expansions, drivers.
Duplication of the runtime software or the executable files
generated using the runtime software for own use or use by third
parties is permissible for a fee.
Information on the fees due for licensing according to use is
listed together with the Ordering data (e.g. catalog). A differentiation in use is made e.g. per CPU, per installation, per channel,
per invocation, per axis, per control loop, per variable etc.
If tools for parameterization/configuration which are delivered
together with the runtime software result in extended rights,
these are recorded in the supplied Readme file.
■ License types
Siemens Automation & Drives offers different types of licenses
for software:
• Floating license
• Single license
• Rental license
• Trial license
Floating license
The software may be installed on any number of licensee
devices for internal use. Only the concurrent user is licensed.
The concurrent user is the one using a program, and use commences when the software is started.
One license is required per concurrent user.
Single license
■ Certificate of License
The Certificate of License (CoL) is the proof for the licensee that
use of the software has been licensed by Siemens.
A CoL must be assigned to each use, and retained in a safe
place.
■ Downgrading
The licensee is permitted to use the software or an earlier version/release of the software if in possession of such and if the
use is technically possible.
■ Delivered versions
Software is subject to continuous further development. The
• PowerPack
• Upgrade
• ServicePack
versions permit access to these further developments.
PowerPack
PowerPacks are conversion packages to more powerful software.
The PowerPack includes a new license contract including CoL
for the licensee. This CoL together with the CoL of the original
product is the proof that the new software is licensed.
A separate PowerPack must be purchased for each original
license of the used software.
Upgrade
An Upgrade permits use of a newer version of the software
under the condition that a license has already been purchased
for a previous version.
In contrast to the floating license, only one software installation
is permissible.
The Upgrade includes a new license contract including CoL.
This CoL together with the CoL of the previous version is the
proof that the new version is licensed.
The type of use subject to licensing is specified in the Ordering
data and the Certificate of License (CoL). A differentiation in use
is made e.g. per device, per axis, per channel etc.
A separate Upgrade must be purchased for each original
license of the software to the upgraded.
A single license is required per defined use.
ServicePack
Rental license
Troubleshooting functions are provided using ServicePacks.
These may be duplicated according to the number of original
licenses in order to use them appropriately.
The rental license supports the "sporadic use" of engineering
software. Following installation of the license key, the software
can be used for a defined number of hours, whereby the use can
be interrupted as often as required. One license is required per
software installation.
Trial license
The trial license supports "short use" of the software for non-productive purposes, e.g. for testing or evaluation. It can be converted into another type of license.
