A note from the Chair – Hasmukh Mistry
Dear Samaj member and supporter
Last year has been a challenging one with changes amongst
our committee and within our funding providers. More
experienced committee members are helping to support
WKH¶QHZUHFUXLWV·DQGWRJHWKHUZHDUHÀQGLQJRXUIHHWDQG
moving forwards.
Last year we had an excellent turnout at our key events
such as Navratri, Diwali and Holi, this combined with our
newly introduced activities such as our annual coach trip,
and smaller social events, have all added to a varied and
enjoyable events calendar.
We are hoping to repeat the success of the 2014 Navratri
festival by welcoming back the popular Swar Music Group, so
I expect to be seeing you all joining in this year’s festivities.
And don’t forget, the special heavily discounted, time limited
offer, a Nine-day Navratri Pass, on sale well in advance of
Navratri and for only £10. Buy them before the deadline (see
the Navratri article on pages 6 and 7).
Our new look newsletter has been praised considerably, along
with our new branding, both of which help us look more
professional and better appeal to potential sponsors. Going
forward we plan to introduce two newsletters each year, and
aim to tap businesses for sponsorship and additional support.
We have a tiered sponsorship package and businesses can

events, and receive promotional support that can lead to
increased customer leads and brand recognition. We welcome
new sponsors so please do get in touch if your business could

Finally, our Gujarati School has also undergone some
challenges and needs help to build it up and ensure our future
leaders are supported throughout their studies. Currently, the
school requires more Governors to help shape and protect its
exisitence. For more information please see pages 8 and 9.
If you would like to volunteer to help at any of our events, or
to participate in initiatives like the ladies group, please get in
touch with any member of the committee.
Thank you again for your continued support and I look forward
to seeing you all at our future events, particularly the Annual
General Meeting, planned for Friday 5th June 2015
(see page 5).
Yours Sincerely,
Hasmukh Mistry – Gujarat Samaj Chair

The Fair will raise vital funds for
the Gujarati School and mark
the end of the school year.
Please come along and bring
your friends and family.
Stalls include the tombola,
bouncy castle, book sales,
face painting and much
more.
All welcome, especially new
students who will have an
opportunity to meet other students and speak to
teachers. This is also an opportunity for parents to
meet teachers and discus their child’s needs.
The Bazaar raises a substantial amount of money for
the school and we will put this to good use by
purchasing new resources for the students. We need
more people to attend this year and make the 2015
fair the best ever.

The GS Supplementary School Needs Governors
+DV\RXUFKLOGEHQHÀWHGIURPWHDFKLQJVDWWKH
GS Supplementary School? Why not volunteer your
time to help the school plan for the future?
The school has a shortage of School Governors. We
need dedicated people with a little bit of spare time to
help support us with funding applications, improving
teaching standards even further, helping leaders get
the best from students and staff and generally taking
the school to a higher level.
The school is also currently seeking a sponsor. If your
business wants to align itself with a worthwhile
community resource, helping younger people aim
higher, please see the GS Friends and Sponsors article
on page 10 and get in touch.
