the following key points:


The group performance
pay program is heavily
tied to overall patient satisfaction.

Teamwork between EMS Personnel is the #1 driver of overall patient satisfaction; if
it takes a big hit, overall patient satisfaction isn’t going to be far behind.
2

Regardless of the priority level, a patient still judges the level of service they receive.

Treat your partner and other first responders on scene with the same level of respect
and teamwork—it does matter.

Coming Soon: EMS Week 2013
Medic is eagerly preparing for this year’s EMS Week, which will occur the week of
May 20th – May 24th. The Agency has another packed week lined up to help
celebrate the hard work and dedication of Medic’s employees.
Over the last three years, follow up surveys have been collected to gather
employee feedback related to Medic’s EMS Week activities. One of the most
consistent pieces of feedback has been a desire to see healthier menu options at
the breakfast and cookout. We heard you and couldn’t agree more. We are
excited to announce that you will see this and other changes to the week’s
activities, all as a direct result of your feedback:

Medic’s Ice Cream Social event will feature an assortment of frozen yogurt
flavors and fresh fruit toppings from Pinkberry.

The EMS Week Cookout has been revamped as Medic Family Fun Day.

The menu for Medic’s Family Fun Day will feature an array of healthy food options including a taco/tortilla bar with an
assortment of meat, vegetable and side item selections.

Many new games and activities will be found in the Medic Arcade.

The Medic Dodgeball Tournament has been added as the final EMS Week closeout activity for Friday, May 24th (please
be sure to visit the Extranet for rules and to register your team in the tournament).
Medic is a growing Agency that boasts more than 500 employees. As we grow, the cost of putting on EMS Week each
year follows suit. As a county agency it is imperative that we manage our resources very wisely. It is for this reason that
we ask each of you to limit participation in the Medic Family Fun Day to your immediate family members only
(i.e., significant other, children). There will be a sign in sheet at the food tent so we can track attendance; we appreciate
everyone adhering to this request.
The Lead Team would like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication to the community we serve. We hope
you will take advantage of everything that has been pulled together to make this year’s EMS Week one of the best yet.

Ambulance Supply & Stocking Changes
Over the past few months, a work group has been assembled to look at the bins on our ambulances. We realize there
have been past issues with the style of bins and their practicality. With this being said, the work group has performed
numerous tests including surveys, feedback, etc. to determine what style of bin would be best suited for our field crews .
The results of the tests performed found that 90% of all items used on Medic ambulances can be compiled into one or two
bins. As a result of this discovery, we will institute two “high use” bins which will can be found on the shelf with easy
access. This will eliminate most of the need to search for items in the cabinets.
Another discovery made during the test performed was that the overwhelming majority of crews prefer supplies to be
stored and sealed inside the bins as opposed to inside a sealed bag. To accomplish this request, the Logistics department
will begin removing all plastic lids from the bins. Both of the above changes will take place this week and will take two to
three days to complete.
The work group will continue to conduct ongoing testing and will provide communication updates as they become
available prior to any future changes. Please contact Operations Manager Bryan Edwards at bryane@medic911.com for any
questions.
Does Your Philips Cardiac Monitor Need Service?
A new feature has been added to the Service Desk Ticket System to address service-related needs for Philips Cardiac
Monitors. The addition of work tickets for the Philips Cardiac Monitors allows the IT department to better diagnose
problems and/or issues that may arise and process repairs in a timely, systematic manner.

Field crews are advised to submit a work ticket for any problems they experience with the monitors by
logging onto the Service Desk Ticketing system from the computers located in the Employee Crew Lounge.
Please look for the icon to the left on the desktop screen to access the Service Desk Ticketing System.

Enter your username, password, select Medic from the Log on to
dropdown menu and click Login

Click on New Incident in the upper left portion of the home screen

Under the Change Template section, please select Support
Services and provide a brief description of the Philips issue or
problem. Please be sure to complete all required fields and click on
the Add request button to submit.
Please contact Bryan Edwards at bryane@medic911.com or Steve
Vandeventer at stevenv@medic911.com if you have questions about entering in a Service Desk Ticket for the Philips monitors.
