GENERAL REMARKS
DESCRIPTION
The origins of High Woodhouse reputedly date back to 1512,
as can be seen on a historic rhyming inscription stone on the
western gable, depicting the story of the original thatched
cabin and barn which stood on the site. The majority of the
present house was constructed in 1901 and offers a sense of
grace and splendour with beautifully proportioned rooms set
in one of the most beautiful parts of the Wharfe Valley.
GROUND FLOOR
Since the present owners purchased High Woodhouse, no
expense has been spared in its restoration and refurbishment,
so that it offers truly exquisite accommodation throughout.
On the ground floor there are four reception rooms, as well as
a stylishly fitted craftsman-built kitchen with utility room. On
the first floor, there are three double bedrooms and a fourth
single, with a study area and three smart bathrooms.
Alongside High Woodhouse there is 'Peanut Pad' - a charming
and delightfully equipped one bedroomed cottage which has
been used for visiting relatives and has its own entrance door.
The property is approached by electric remote controlled
gates which lead to an ample parking/turning area to the
detached double garage.
Inner Hallway
having radiator and Byron Squares
terracotta/oak flooring by Broadleaf.
No matter which window you look out of, there are
spectacular views, whether it be over the gardens to the side
and rear, or across to the moorland and fells beyond the River
Wharfe in a southerly direction. The setting of High
Woodhouse is truly unique - although it carries an
Appletreewick address, it is just outside Burnsall and enjoys
splendid scenery so typical of this part of the Yorkshire Dales
National Park, without being either isolated or remote. The
gardens extend to 0.87 acres and have been professionally
landscaped, including sweeping lawns, well stocked borders
and beds, secluded seating areas and a thatched roof gazebo.
The main house is heated by an LPG radiator system with
'Peanut Pad' having modern electric panel heaters, and the
majority of the windows are hardwood double glazed. For
anyone who appreciates true quality, High Woodhouse is a
property not to be missed and comes highly recommended for
internal inspection.
