Important FTA Email Addresses - Fontana Teachers Association
Volume 38, Issue 1
August 2016
Welcome Back
Sue Felt
FTA President
I hope that you all had time to get away and enjoy yourselves and are refreshed and ready to get back to work. I
know the beginning of the year can be exhausting so, I want
to thank you for all your hard work and dedication. You’ve
make school a great place to be for all of our students.
The beginning of the year once again finds us in search of
a new superintendent. The good news is that that the interim superintendents want to continue on with business as usual during the search. We
have been assured that negotiations will go on as scheduled and we are
meeting on a regular basis with the co superintendents to find solutions
to current issues. If you’ve been out of the loop, the superintendent job
is being shared by Randy Basset, current Associate Superintendent of
Business Services and Dr. Porter, who is a retired superintendent from
the Bay Area. Randy has been in the District for many years and has
always been someone FTA can work with while Dr. Porter came highly
recommended from our CTA colleagues in the Bay Area.
In this issue of the Fontanan you will find the list of available conferences. If you are interested please call or email the office and let Mandy
know. You will be sent an application. The conference committee will
select attendees based on previous attendance, relevance to their work
and on how the information will be used. (All of these questions are on
the application.) We welcome all of you to apply. Last year many were
on the interest list but failed to turn in applications. You must turn in an
application to be considered. If you want additional information about
the conferences you can visit the app CTAGO or the CTA website under
member benefits tab at the top of the front page. Click member benefits
then events then conferences.
If you are having any issues at your site remember you can ask your
Site Rep, your Director, or call the office for help. We want to make this
year as stress free as possible.
Here’s to the best year yet!

Conferences
The following is a list of conferences available
through CTA this school year. There’s also information
on grants that are available for attendance. We do not
require you to receive a grant but would like for you to
apply, if applicable, as this saves FTA money. Preference will be given to first time applicants and to committee chairs who can show relevance to the job they
perform. University credit is available for most of these
conferences for a small fee.
Grants
The CTA Board of Directors will award New Member, Minority and Small Chapter Incentive Grants for
attendance at the following statewide conferences:
GLBT Conference, Issues Conference, Good Teaching
Conference-South, Equity and Human Rights Conference and Good Teaching Conference-North. The grant
application deadlines are different for most conferences,
please click here to learn more.
IMPORTANT NOTE: CTA uses an online grant ap-
plication that is connected with Falcon, the CTA membership database. All applicants will be required to
register as new users by entering their email addresses
and filling out the required fields. If the email address
entered is the same as that which is on file in Falcon,
then some of the information will be prepopulated and
will only require verification.
