REPORT FROM THE PRESIDENT Boogie on the Bay belongs to the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs (ACSC). As a member, a representative of BOTB is required to attend two workshops per year which occur in February and July. Attendance is also required at one workshop held during SOS weeks. The workshops provide assistance and advice to the individual shag clubs (approximately 100 clubs). ACSC is non‐profit. Society of Stranders (SOS) is for profit. SOS provides the finances for ACSC to function through the sale of tickets. SOS holds three “gatherings” per year at North Myrtle Beach: Mid‐
Winter, Spring Safari, and Fall Migration. I urge everyone to attend at least one SOS event. It’s a great party with as many as 15,000 shaggers. You meet a lot of people with common interests. (P.S. I met my wife, Sandy, at SOS in 2006.) In an effort to bolster revenue, on March 17 Big Woody’s will begin charging a $5.00 entrance fee on Sunday and Monday nights. Hands will be stamped and tokens issued. When you receive your tab, present the token to you waitress and $5.00 will be deducted from the bill. If you bill is less than $5.00, there will be no refunds. The token is good only for the night it is given out. It is in BOTB’s best interest to assist, when possible, Big Woody’s in being successful. We are fortunate to have Big Woody’s for our Sunday socials and Monday dance lessons. BOTB will elect its nominating committee, N’Telos chairman and appoint the Bash committee chair at the April meeting. We need response from our club members in these areas. We currently have approximately 182 members. We need more participation at the business meetings and in the various committees. Ask those who have volunteered in the past. We have fun! Get to know your fellow club members better through working on committees with them. Until next time – peace, love, good health and KEEP SHAGGING! P.S. I have SOS tickets for sale for $30 (vs. $35 at the door.)

Donna Marie Cherry (1943 2013) Donna Cherry
Va. Beach - Donna Marie Cherry, 69, a long time resident of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully on February 3,
2013.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Earl and Margaret Musick, and survived by her son, Jeffrey Cherry and his wife
Teresa, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Christine Musick who were wonderful caretakers, and her brothers
Richard and James Musick. She was a dedicated employee at Suntrust Bank for over 30 years until her retirement.
Donna was a caring and loving person, who touched so many throughout her life. She was a devoted mother who would
sacrifice everything for her son and the backbone of the family. The list of people who considered her a close friend is
extensive and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her passions included traveling, gardening,
decorating, shopping and dancing. She was an active member in the Boogie on the Bay, Va. Beach and the Outer Banks Shag Clubs. She was able
to attend the New Years Shag Bash in the Outer Banks this year with her friends and she is surely still dancing above. Donna was an active
member of the Community United Methodist Church in VA Beach and enjoyed her circle of friends. The family wishes to thank Virginia Oncology,
Dr. Burton Alexander and his staff for giving us the time we had with her. We would also like to thank Cathy and Russell for being there for her
and being such supportive friends. Donna wanted everyone to remember her in life, the happy times and shared experiences and not in death.
Remember her fondly and continue to spread her love and joy for life. In keeping with her wishes, traditional services will not be held and the
family asks that in lieu of cards and flowers that donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society .

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL INFORMATION:
Hello everyone, what a terrific year for BOTB! Although we seemed to get off to a slow start, membership numbers continued to
grow and now stand at 182 strong! Thank you all for being a member of our family, we are much better for having you.
As you know annual dues (and an updated application) for all renewing members are due on May 1st and are payable no later than
May 31st. Anyone who has not paid their dues by May 31st will no longer be considered a member and should they choose to do
so will have to submit a new member application with the corresponding fee and be voted on by the membership as a new
member. Please (please!) pay your dues on time and avoid the need to reapply as a new member (besides, I would appreciate
it).
Respectfully, Dave Dembicki (Membership Chair).
