ONE AMAZING TRIP. Beginning with visits to two historic scenic railways, ACE’s 2013 international trip explores parks and coasters in Hungary, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. From parks with centuries of history to modern theme parks, from ACE Coaster Classics to high-speed thrills, your journey through Central Europe will be a spectacular adventure. It all starts in Budapest, Hungary, and winds up in Frankfurt, Germany. This year ACE offers three tour options: you can enjoy the full two-week tour, or you can opt for just Week One or Week Two. Event registration includes hotel accommodations, most park admissions, coach transportation and more. JOIN THE JOURNEY IN 2013! Hullámvasút Vidámpark Pricing Information ESTIMATED COSTS WEEK ONE MEMBERS $1,450 WEEK TWO $1,450 NON-MEMBERS $1,600 $1,600 Wood, steel, new, old — you’re sure to find a new favorite on the ACE Central Europe trip. BOTH WEEKS $2,800 $3,100 Trip registration will cover all transportation during the trip, park admissions, ERTs and park meals (where provided), three- or four-star hotel accommodations (including breakfast at each hotel), a tour shirt and trip guide. Information regarding lodging will be provided at a later date. Prices are per person, double occupancy. An additional fee of $450 per week applies for single occupancy. Airfare is not included. A $500 deposit for either week, or a $1,000 deposit for the full 2-week tour is due by February 15, 2013. The balance will be announced prior to April 30, 2013, for the second payment. A third smaller make-up payment, if needed, may be due in June 2013, based on exchange rate fluctuation. ARRIVAL You must arrive in Budapest by or on July 19, or in Frankfurt by or on July 26. Event registration will take place at the host hotels on July 19 and July 26. Hotel accommodations for July 19 are included in the registration fee for week one and the full tour. Accommodations for the night of July 26 are included in all three tour options. You will need to arrange your own transportation from your arrival airport to the appropriate host hotel (based on your chosen tour option). If you cannot arrive on July 19 or 26, you will need to arrange your own transportation to the appropriate host park or hotel. AIR TRAVEL Your airfare is NOT included in the registration fee, and participants are responsible for making their own air travel arrangements. You will need to search for open jaw, also known as multiple destination or multiple city itineraries, when searching for flights online or with your travel agent. You will need to plan on arriving at the Budapest Airport (BUD) or Frankfurt Airport (FRA), depending on which trip option you have selected, and departing from the Frankfurt Airport. LODGING In Europe, hotel rooms typically accommodate only one or two people; larger parties will need to plan accordingly. Twin beds are not always available; you may need to share a bed with your traveling partner. Registration fees are based on double occupancy. If you wish to have a private room, an additional $450 per week charge will be assessed. TOUR DETAILS Every consideration should be taken when registering for this trip. It will be a physically demanding journey. As you embark on this trip, you are making a commitment to keep a level head, exhibit patience and understanding and represent ACE in a positive manner. Punctuality in the tour schedule is imperative. The main focus of this organized journey will be to enjoy the parks and coasters, though limited sightseeing will be possible. It should be mentioned that cultures and customs may be different in terms of hotels, smoking regulations, meals, operating policies and everyday life. These differences can cause challenging opportunities: embrace them as the details that enrich your travels. CHILDREN By decision of the ACE Executive Committee, children under the age of 12 will not be permitted aboard the coaches out of respect for all passengers. Parents should be cautioned to ensure that any children aged 12-18 will be up to the demands of such a trip. Children under 18 must be carefully supervised. PASSPORT Travel abroad requires a passport; a passport card is not acceptable. All attendees must have a valid passport. The countries we are visiting require that passports be valid three months past the expected end of your trip. If you intend to travel to other countries on your own there may be different requirements. Visit travel.state.gov to learn more about passports. QUES TIONS Please send questions regarding the tour to acetrips@hotmail.com. THANK YOU! There is a possibility that Vidámpark may close; in that case, the coasters will likely be operated by Budapest’s Municipal Zoo. Germany’s funfairs are justifiably famous. The Cranger Kirmes fair is part of the tour itinerary on August 2. Attendees can choose to visit the Hamburg Sommerdom fair on July 29. Both are pay-as-you-go and are not included in the event registration. Stay up to date with tour plans.
