your ceremony through to your reception we
have a selection of stunning spaces and packages
allowing us to cater for small intimate weddings
to large celebrations.
We are the perfect venue for a ceremony, drinks
reception, wedding breakfast or
evening reception. We can accommodate an
intimate ceremony for as few as 4
guests to a large celebration of 220 guests.
Shortlisted as a regional finalist in the
2015 Wedding industry awards we are a
licensed venue for civil ceremonies and
receptions and our professional dedicated
team have many years of experience. With
this stunning venue and our planning
service we will create a day to remember
for you and your guests.

Our Spaces
The Great Hall
The stunning Great Hall is of
Godwin design and will take your
breath away. Decorative shields and
kaleidoscopic glass windows adorn
the ceiling, while colourful murals
line the archways.
The Great Hall is a flexible space
that can seat up to 220 for a
ceremony, 180 for a reception with
round tables and 220 in banquet
style. The stage area can be used for
a top table, bands and dj’s.
The Court Room
Steeped in history this striking
Neo Gothic room with its high
ceiling and viewing galleries is
perfect for wedding
ceremonies, drinks receptions,
wedding breakfasts and
evening receptions.
The Court Room can seat up to
90 people for a Ceremony and
65 for a Reception.

The Council Chamber
This is a masterpiece of Victorian Gothic
design and one of the finest rooms the
Guildhall possesses. Exquisite decorative
carvings, with its profusion of flowers
and foliage set against a series of
delightful and elegant arcades, makes it
one of the most graceful Council
Chambers in England.
The Council Chamber can seat 50 for a
Ceremony.
The Holding Room
This beautiful smaller room is perfect for
an intimate ceremony. This room can
seat 24 people for a ceremony. Following
your ceremony why not use the
adjoining Godwin room for a wedding
breakfast or drinks reception. Both
rooms complement each other perfectly.
The Godwin Room
This room boasts exquisite original
Godwin furniture. With a magnificent
table spanning the length of the room,
making this room the perfect choice for a
more intimate wedding breakfast or a
drinks reception.
The Godwin Room can seat 20 people
for a Wedding Breakfast.

Draft beer is available from our fixed bar in the
Court room. Both bars can only be operated for
events with guests of 180 and above.

Ceremony Price List
Prices are applicable for events booked before the end of March 2016.
Prices are exempt of VAT.
Civil Ceremonies
Prices are applicable for Monday to Saturday and are based on four hour room hire, one
hour for your ceremony and one and a half hours prior and after to set up and break down
the room. For Sunday and Bank holiday bookings all rates are doubled.

Drinks Receptions
Spaces are available for Drinks Receptions and are charged by the hourly rates detailed
within the Reception Price List on the next page. Drinks Reception services are provided by
our catering team.

The Registrar has a separate fee for performing ceremonies at licensed venues. For details of

are provided by our catering team).
Prices include - Tables, Chairs, Chair Covers and Sashes, Poseur Tables, Up Lighting,
Microphone for Speeches, Event Security (this is stipulated by our license), Back Projector
for Photographs (Great Hall only), and a dedicated service from our professional team.
We are licensed until 2am; if you would like your Wedding Reception to continue after
midnight additional hourly rates will apply. These rates also apply for Drinks Receptions.

Catering
We are party to a catering contract and as such any catering and provision of liquor
for functions must be provided by Cloverdale Catering.
A brief history of Cloverdale Catering
Cloverdale Catering was established in 1986 by which time the owner had acquired
15 years’ experience in a wide range of successful catering positions.
Since its launch, the company has sought to provide the highest standard of food and
service whilst becoming involved in both Outside and Contract Catering. Having
grown throughout the period, Cloverdale has acquired an excellent reputation for
quality, quantity and service throughout the whole spectrum of its catering activities

Additional information for reception bookings
Entertainment
You are welcome to use any entertainer you wish, but we ask that they contact us at the
Guildhall to discuss any limitation that might cause a problem such as smoke machines,
haze machines, confetti cannons or fireworks.
Furniture
We have furniture available for the function, however, if this is not satisfactory and you
would prefer an alternative you will be required to hire anything that we do not have in
stock. Details are available on request.
Decorations
You may provide your own decorations but please be aware that there are certain
restrictions to what you may have within the building such as Helium filled Balloons. Please
discuss your ideas with the team as soon as possible.
Parking
We can provide parking at the Guildhall for anyone involved in the organisation of the
event i.e. Disco, Caterers, Table Dressers etc. all other guests should use the public parking
provided within the Town Centre, presently parking in the Town Centre on Saturdays and
Sundays is free of charge. There are several car parks within a short walk of the Guildhall.
Any cars parked at the Guildhall need to be removed from after the event has finished.
Damage
You are liable for any damage to the building or its fixtures and fittings caused as a result of
the function and will be invoiced accordingly after the event. This is not a regular occurrence
but all clients are informed at this stage.

Applications for hire shall be returned to the Guildhall Office on this booking form and shall be sent to the address below:The Guildhall Office, The Guildhall, St Giles Square, Northampton, NN1 1DE.
The Council reserve the right to refuse a booking if it is deemed inappropriate.
The total fee payable is required 12 weeks before the function. Hirers should note that payments are not refundable.
A completed and signed Wedding Agreement Form and deposit, is required within 14 days of the original verbal booking.
Should this not be forthcoming then Northampton Borough shall be entitled to treat the provisional booking as cancelled.
Payment – A £250 deposit (which will be deducted from your final charge) is required to secure the booking, (an invoice
will be sent to you). Hirers should note that payments are not refundable.
Room set-up requirements shall be discussed with the Guildhall Office when booking the event. Room setup and dismantle
shall be charged for.
The Hirer shall observe any conditions or restrictions which the Council may impose as to the use of any room or
proceeding /activities within any room, which are notified to the Hirer before the reservation, becomes effective. In some
cases, a written specification of all event proceedings / activities will be drawn up and agreed between the Hirer and the
Council prior to the event. The council reserve the right to refuse or cancel any such reservation in the event of such
restriction, condition or specification not being complied with.
Only food and drink purchased from or provided by Northampton Borough Council may be consumed on the premises.
Hirers are responsible for ensuring that time spent clearing away and emptying the Guildhall of all persons engaged by
them is included in the booking period. Events, which overrun may be asked to terminate their function and leave the
premises, or be charged the full rate for the extended time which must be paid within 7 days.
It shall be a condition of the letting that there shall be no display of any advertisement relating to the proposed use of the
Guildhall without prior permission of the Facilities Manager.
The use of smoke machines in the Guildhall is prohibited. Permissions for the use of any machinery, extra or alternative
lighting (including candles) etc. must be obtained from the Guildhall Office.
Helium balloons are prohibited in the Guildhall.
No Hirer may attach anything to the walls without the prior permission of the Guildhall Office.
Where the Hirer has damaged any part of the Guildhall, its fixtures or fittings or left any part of the property dirty or
disorderly; charges will be rendered immediately after the event and must be paid with 7 days of invoicing.
Hirers of the Guildhall may be required to pay for the services of Door Supervisors. The Guildhall Office will advise of
these requirements.
Hirers must note that Northampton Borough Council shall not accept responsibility for any personal belongings left
unattended in the building. All belongings / equipment must be uplifted / removed immediately after the event. The
Guildhall can NOT store any equipment / belongings.
Smoking – Northampton borough Council is a non-smoking council and smoking is not permitted on any council property.

The Council reserve the right to cancel the hiring agreement at any time if the rooms(s) booked within the Guildhall are
needed for purposes of national or local importance (such as Council meetings) not contemplated at the time of hiring. The
council’s decision to cancel in such circumstances is final. Any fee paid will then be returned to the Hirer and the Hirer will
agree to accept it in full settlement of all claims, costs, losses and damages that the Hirer might otherwise have against the
Council from the cancellation.
Any cancellation must be given in writing to Northampton Borough Council, Guildhall Office, St Giles Square,
Northampton. NN1 1DE. All deposits and payments once made are non-refundable. The council recommends that you
consider taking out Event Insurance.
Prices quoted are for 2015 and are inclusive of VAT at the current rate. In the event of taxation changes or increased costs
beyond the control of the Council, we reserve the right to vary prices without prior notice
