June 22 - Epiphany of Our Lord Church
June 22, 2014 The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Epiphany of Our Lord Church - June 22– The Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ-2014 Page 1 Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of the Archbishop 222 North 17th Street Philadelphia, PA 19103-1299 June, 2014 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: Our participation in the Peter’s Pence Collection gives us an opportunity be a witness of charity to our brothers and sisters around the world. Gifts to this annual collection help the Holy Father support victims of war, natural disasters, and others most in need of assistance. On Easter Sunday 2013, Pope Francis encouraged each person to be a witness of charity. He said, “Let us be renewed by God’s mercy…and let us become agents of this mercy, channels through which God can water the earth, protect all creation, and make justice and peace flourish.” Pope Francis has continued to remind us through his actions that we must serve our brothers and sisters in order to be true disciples of Christ. This special appeal gives us the opportunity to be pilgrims of charity around the world. This year the Peter’s Pence Collection will be taken at all Masses on the weekend of June 28 and June 29. Gratefully and with best wishes in Jesus Christ, Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. Extreme Makeover’s TY Pennington’s Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge Catholic Social Services of Montgomery County needs your help! The CSS Food Pantry needs renovation to more effectively serve the community. Due to the current set up of the space, folks have to wait their turn outside, in all types of weather, to receive a bag of prepackaged food with no choice of what's in the bag. CSS envisions a mini-market where folks can pick out groceries for themselves. Choosing groceries is more dignified as well as efficient, since many people have specific dietary needs for medical, religious or cultural reasons. Please visit the link to vote for CSS to be the recipient of funding: http://woobox.com/7cdpb2/vote/ for/2603604. Thank you!
