EVENTS THIS WEEK
 Assessment week
 Pre-Crèche Family Assembly
 School and Class Photos
 Theme Learning: FACE DAY
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This has been one long week and I am glad that it has come to an end.
SAT exams are over; school photographs went as well as they can go; we had a
fantastic theme assembly today on celebrating faces and we have continued to
explore the Family Value: Trust.
Last Saturday, BNIS hosted Taekwondo championship. The children performed
really well. Children awarded the Gold medal were: Evie, Sam, Tessa, Ryan, William,
Oscar and Fred; Silver medal: Lorien, Lali, Archie and Clive and the Bronze medal:
Semmie, Ilhan, Paramvir, Alarik and Daniel. Out of the schools that took part in the
competition we came first. Well done to all Taekwondo students for a superb
performance.
I hope to see many of you these evening for a Sundowner! Just what we all need
after a very hectic week. I hope the clouds can hold for the moment.
For those taking part in LAMDA exams, these are next week Saturday, 22nd June
from 1:00. A schedule has been emailed to you and one put up on the school notice
board.

EAR LY YEARS NEWS
ANNE SEMENYE - PRE-CRÈCHE CLASS TEACHER
In Pre Crèche Class, we have
started a new topic about birds.
We have been talking about
owls and learnt that they feed
on mice, rats, moles, rabbits,
worms, spiders, lizards and small
birds. This week, we have been
learning about turkeys. We
found out that a turkey is a big
bird and the male is more
colourful than the female.
Turkeys make a ‘gobble gobble
sound’ and they like shaking
their feathers. A baby turkey is
called a pout and a mother
turkey is called a hen. A daddy
turkey is called tom.
Next week , we are looking
forward to a nature walk to the
end of the big play ground and
look out for the different kinds
of birds. We will then collect
dry grass and build some nests.
We will be feeding Mr. Feathers
(our school turkey).

FACE DAY
This week, we have been looking at different aspects of Faces.
In classes, the children have had a chance to express their ideas on the topic and
have discovered that the ‘face’ is a strong tool of expression. The children
appreciate that we belong to a diverse world consisting of different faces. Our
faces are our identity and they convey feelings and emotions.
Regardless of our nationalities, we are all unified by common features making us
one global family.
Enjoy reading the poem below:
Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face
Be glad your nose is on your face,
not pasted on some other place,
for if it were where it is not,
you might dislike your nose a lot.
Imagine if your precious nose
were sandwiched in between your toes,
that clearly would not be a treat,
for you'd be forced to smell your feet.
Your nose would be a source of dread
were it attached atop your head,
it soon would drive you to despair,
forever tickled by your hair.
Within your ear, your nose would be
an absolute catastrophe,
for when you were obliged to sneeze,
your brain would rattle from the breeze.
Your nose, instead, through thick and thin,
remains between your eyes and chin,
not pasted on some other place
be glad your nose is on your face!
