(Fri/Sat)
Experienced, road-tested and
tougher than a two by four, The
24th Street Wailers are five
Canadian musicians who originally
met in music school. Their major
influence? The sounds from the
freewheeling period in the ‘40s
and ‘50s when the Blues gave
birth to Rock’n’Roll in black communities in major American cities.
When showmanship mattered.

“C.J. Chenier attacks the accordion with the tension and drive of

C.J.’s music has always embraced

eminently danceable. The band
includes Steve Riley (accordion,
fiddle, vocals), Kevin Wimmer (fiddle, vocals), Sam Broussard (guitar, vocals), Brazos Huval (bass)
and Kevin Dugas (drums). Their
2011 release, Grand Isle (Valcour
Records), garnered them their
fourth Grammy nomination, and in
2013 Steve won a Grammy in the
Best Regional Roots Album category for his work with The Band
Courtbouillon, one of several
other “side project” bands with
whom Steve plays. Additionally,
the Mamou Playboys were nominated for five, and won three,
Offbeat Music Awards in 2012.

Ten STrInGS & A GOATSKIn
(Fri/Sat)
Ten Strings and a Goatskin is an
exciting, multi-award winning
bilingual trad/folk/fusion trio celebrating the music of the Irish,
28.
Acadien, French & Maritime cultures. Integrating modern and
world rhythms with both traditional and original tunes, they create
a fiery, contagious and unique
sound that has been lighting up
Canadian and international
stages. With humour and seemingly ceaseless energy, the college student band members,
Jesse Périard, Rowen Gallant and
Caleb Gallant, have proven themselves to be one of the hardest
working bands in Canada’s Prince
Edward Island and in the
Maritimes, and the fiddle guitar
percussion trio is constantly in
demand at all of the area’s major
folk and roots music festivals.
Their second album, the bilingual
Corbeau (Independent), was
released in 2013.

TerrAnCe SIMIen & The
zyDeCO exPerIenCe (Sat/Sun)
For over 30 years, eighth generation Louisiana Creole Terrance
Simien has been shattering the
myths about what his indigenous
Zydeco roots music is and is not.
Leading his Zydeco Experience
band, Simien has become one of
the most respected and accomplished artists in American roots
music today, and in 2014,
Terrance and the band won their
second (!) Grammy award for their
2013 release, Dockside Sessions
(MusicMatters). Terrance Simien
hails from a family documented as
one of the first Creole families to
settle in St. Landry’s Parish, LA,
and his musical roots are firmly
planted alongside the great zydeco pioneers like Chenier,
Delafose, Chavis, Ardoin and that
other Simien, Rockin Sidney, to
name a few. He began his touring
career at the age of 18, and hasn’t
stopped since. He creates a hypnotic blend of New Orleans funkreggae-flavored-world-bluesAmerican zydeco roots music that
beckons you to your feet and into
the groove. TerranceSimien.com

The Travelin’ McCourys
Yves Lambert Trio
Hot Tamale Brass Band
The TrAvelIn’ McCOuryS
with CODy KIlBy (Fri)
The Travelin’ McCourys is the latest incarnation of the most awarded band in the history of bluegrass music—The Del McCoury
Band. No other band today has
the same credentials for playing
traditional and progressive music.
As the sons of bluegrass legend
Del McCoury, Ronnie McCoury on
mandolin and Rob McCoury on
banjo continue their father’s work:
a lifelong dedication to the power
of bluegrass music to bring joy
into people’s lives. With IBMA
Fiddle Player of the Year Jason
Carter and bassist Alan Bartram,
the ensemble is loved and
revered by the bluegrass faithful,
while also making music that is
fresh and rejuvenating. Known for
their individual prowess on their
instruments and their rapidly
expanding reputation as collaborators with the members of
numerous musical icons, from
Vince Gill to the Allman Brothers
and Phish, this touring unit blends
the best of the Appalachian tradition with the improvisational
magic of jazz. Unique live collaborations are the hallmark of their
performances. Joining the group
at R&R is bluegrass guitar giant
CODy KIlBy. As a banjo wunderkind, he had Gibson banjo
endorsement by the age of 11,
and after picking up the guitar at
10, he became the National
Flatpicking Champion at 17.
During that time, he also added
mandolin to his impressive reper-
toire. His 2008 release, Many
Roads Traveled (Independent) features such Grammy-winning artists
as Ricky Skaggs, Bruce Hornesby,
Alison Krauss, and many, many
more. TravelinMcCourys.com;

hOT TAMAle BrASS BAnD
(Sat/Sun) has its origins in the
Dixieland bands that held forth in
the late 19th/early 20th centuries in
‘Nawlins.’ During Mardi Gras and
special occasions of all sorts, a
marching band would cause the
Crescent City to resound with the
sounds of Dixieland music. This
Boston-based band has become a
tradition here at R&R as they march
through the crowd between Main
Stage acts and lead dozens of costumed kids in our Mardi Gras
parades. Get in line, everybody!

yveS lAMBerT TrIO (Fri/Sat)
Since beginning his solo career in
2003, the charismatic singer and
accordionist Yves Lambert has
never ceased to amaze. Shortly
after he left the group Bottine, he
joined musicians from the Bébert
Orchestra and began to forge a
new identity. The Yves Lambert
Trio combines festive music that
feels like dancing poetry with
innovative, original songwriting.
Supported by multi-instrumentalists Tommy Gauthier and Olivier
Rondeau (two members of Bébert
Orchestra), Lambert is creating a
brand new sound. The trio offers a
personal and creative interpretation of traditional Quebec music.
In addition, their compositions
and arrangements proposed by
Gauthier and Rondeau, are rich in
musical prowess and ingenuity.
On stage, the show is a touching
and memorable musical experience. Yves Lambert trio will captivate you. www.yveslambert.com
