The leader of the Matt Day Band is a Burleson native who lives in Rio Vista and has been playing music for about 16 years. He’s adept on bass, drums and guitar. He started writing songs, formed a band and won a singer/songwriter contest sponsored by 92.1 FM, where he then regularly performed live on the morning show. Recently teamed with lead guitarist Jeremy Vanderburg and other musicians, Day is working on a CD project and plays acoustic gigs around the Metroplex. The band’s music has many influences from a rock ‘n’ roll background to a strong country upbringing that create a music style all its own. Jeremy Vanderburg, 26, is a Joshua native who’s been playing guitar for about three years. His musical influences range from Metallica to Ragweed. Bob Bone fiddles for Stampede Band. Stampede Band has Bob Bone on fiddle, Albert Tally on steel guitar, Dick Bridges on bass and lead vocals, Leonard Hill on drums and Truman Hudson on guitar and vocals. Bluegrass is a father-daughter duo of Justine and Justine Blakely. They’ve been touring festivals and coffee shops for six years, with Justine on banjo and Justin on fiddle, mandolin and guitar. For their Peach Festival debut, the Springtown natives promise a little bluegrass, some alternative rock, some folk and a unique sound. Danielle Reed is a Boyd High School honor student who sings and plays rhythm guitar and fiddle. Her CD is called Danielle Reed: My Country. Chandler Bennett earned her nickname, Little Miss Dyna-Mite, with a passionate voice. (Above) Gerald Ray is lead guitar for Cowboy Country. Tommy Hughes brings his band to Peach Festival. Matt Day Peach Festival’s main stage is at the corner of Palo Pinto and South Waco streets, in the First Baptist Church parking lot. Dorothy Glenn has a reputation for assembling exceptional shows featuring the finest of local performers. Little Miss Dyna-Mite Chandler Bennett and her band get things started. The 8-year-old from Mansfield has a voice that earned her third-place in the Colgate Country Showdown and got her gigs with Charlie Pride, Sonny Burgess and Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue. Jacob and Jordan Hackett of Plainview bring Clear Fork to the stage next with some Bob Wills western swing. Their family spends part of their annual vacation at Peach Festival because they love its tradition and its audiences love the boys’ fiddle and guitar. Cowboy Country Band has Gerald Ray on lead guitar and vocals, Ray Austin on steel guitar, Tony Guidroz on drums and vocals, and James Glenn on bass. Special guest Ryan Guidroz sits in on drums. The 12-yearold Stephenville kid comes to Peach Festival each year with his dad, just to help the band. Johnny Johnson and the Memory Makers Band performs traditional country music and gospel. They’ve made a CD called Angels Don’t Lie, which is No. 2 on the Power Source Magazine and Western Swing top 10. Texas Best features Durwood Strube on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Larry Reed on vocals and sax, Teddy Driskill on lead guitar, Lanney Butler on bass and special guest Neil Butler (Strube’s grandson) on bass and vocals.
