In 1755, Thomas Danforth II opened a
pewter workshop in Middletown, CT.
Generations of the family followed
him into the pewter trade, and the
Danforths became the leading family
in early American pewter. There
is colonial Danforth pewter in the
Smithsonian, the Museum of Fine
Arts in Boston, Colonial Williamsburg,
and many other American museums.
