Nic`s Business Profile
Business Profile Company Background NIC's started as a commissary established by Maggie and Rina Go in 2001. Nicole is the name of Rina’s first daughter after which the company was named. The single mom sought to create a business she could pass on to her children. Specialties such as classic desserts borne out of homemade, family tested recipes gave them the confidence to offer their products. Maggie provided the first recipes she kept from the 70’s which were popular amongst her peers and family. Hence the ingredients are neither commercial nor compromised. Placing customer satisfaction the priority fresh produce, and tested recipes are used to ensure quality taste and aesthetics. The company primarily provided Desserts and Breads to coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and food-chains at wholesale prices. Specific food items such as Pastas and Rice meals were also developed to suit the client’s needs. NIC’s has also participated in "by invitation only" food halls and bazaars. Its wide acceptability for products such as the Brownie Walnut Cluster, Parmesan Ensaymada, and Lasagna showed a need for high quality food that was easy to stock on and reheat. This continuous encouragement led the owners to come up with its first retail outlet NIC’S. The showcase would provide them a platform to strut hip unique products like Parmesan Wheat Crisps, and the Dip-n-Toss line of bottled sauces. NIC’s Gourmet Desserts opened in 172 A. Mabini, San Juan in June 2011. Its interiors broke out from the usual country home feel to a modern clean simple European type patisserie where desserts are presented in an artful manner. It specializes in providing customers the quick sweet fix they need easy to take out. The customer with a busy lifestyle need not worry about a sudden occasion where they need party platters. Nic's well lit interiors was a veritable haven in the generally dark Mabini Street. As we ordered coffee and hot chocolate, we were coaxed into trying out their best seller, Peach Walnut Torte. It was delicious, not cloyingly sweet with the light creamy filling blending well with generous peach slices. They surely did not stint on walnuts as the torte burst with crunch, crisp and sweet all at the same time. It truly deserved to be called the "Best Dessert" last December 2012 by the Manila Daily Inquirer. But the surprise of the evening was their expanded menu which now includes soups, salads, pasta dishes, dips and crisps, and wine. I should have known they don't just carry desserts and pastries. They even boast of hot breakfast platters and roast dishes. Going by the delectable dessert that we had, the meals must be great. Oh well, we'll try them out next time. Management and staff at Nic's are gracious and friendly -- we had very good service in fact. Special thanks to Manager Joy Guinita, and Nicole Velarde. Mabini St. is the route to Greenhills coming from Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City. You may very well miss Nic's because it is a bit recessed from the road. The best landmark is the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), also on Mabini Street. If you already reached PUP, you just missed Nic's. But believe me, it's worth turning back for.
