WHAT CAN I DO?
There are many ways to enjoy 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center.
Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Apalachee Exhibit Hall
Our museum for the Mobile Tensaw River Delta
contains a wide variety of specimens and exhibits
that highlight the natural history and beauty of the
United State’s second largest river delta. Spend
some time exploring this space on your own, or ask
one of our staff for a guided tour. Do check back
occasionally, as our exhibit is always changing.
Delta Hall
Relax and soak up the scenery inside Delta Hall or
on the back deck overlooking the beautiful delta.
Bring your binoculars, as a wide variety of birds and
reptiles is often in view. Learn about our local history
from the archival photos displayed in the building.
Don’t miss the story of the “sinker table” in Delta
Hall. Did you know that Delta Hall can be rented for
special events and receptions? See a staff person or
our website at www.Alabama5Rivers.com for details.
Cypress Gift Shop
A must see! We pack a lot into our little gift shop.
We focus on unique, nature-themed selections,
including one-of-a-kind works from local artisans. We
also have a wide selection of books and apparel that
focus on Alabama’s great outdoors. Your purchases
directly support our operations at 5 Rivers.
Tensaw Theater
Take a virtual tour of some of Alabama’s greatest
places. Our small but growing library features many
selections from the Discovering Alabama television
series, as well as other videos and slideshows about
the plants and animals you’ll encounter in coastal
Alabama. Shows range from 8 minutes to 30 minutes
and are available on demand. Just ask a staff person
and we’ll be glad to start one for you.
Thank you for visiting
5 Rivers Delta Resource Center!
For upcoming events or information, please visit
our website at www.Alabama5Rivers.com, find us
on Facebook, or call us at 251-625-0814.
Walking Trails
Step outside and enjoy our trail system. Our Battery
Trail is constructed of gravel and follows the
northern perimeter of the site overlooking Sardine
Pass and the Blakeley River. Or you might venture
into the Bowles Wood, where our mulched path
takes you into the forest. Many of our common trees
and shrubs are marked and described along the trail.
The total trail length is less than one mile and is
relatively flat.
Picnic Areas
Feel free to use the picnic areas on a first-come-firstserved basis. Our two pavilions along Battery Trail
are available for reservation for up to 50 people each
for a small fee. Call 251-625-0814.
Bartram Landing
Launch a canoe or kayak at our floating dock and
explore the Lower Mobile-Tensaw River Delta.
Canoe & Kayak Rentals, guided tours and good
advice on where to paddle are available from Five
Rivers Delta Safaris at 251-259-8531.
Five Rivers Delta Safaris
Hop aboard the Pelican for a two hour narrated tour
of the Lower Delta. Charter tours are also available.
Five Rivers Delta Safaris also offers middle delta
tours, canoe and kayak rentals, guided canoe and
kayak tours, and themed birthday parties. Call 251259-8531 for information.
Little Bateau Classroom
Learn about wildlife, plants, tracking, history, and
other interesting subjects taught in our free classes.
Check our website, Facebook page, or ask us for a
schedule. Feel free to wander through to see the live
animals and exhibits on display.
Guided Tours
We’d love to show you around the facility and tell
you its many stories. For best service, please call
ahead for large group tours, so that we can make
sure the appropriate guide is available.
