The Hikers’ Park - the new village centre
A pavillon informs about the variety of hiking trails in the
surroundings as well as about the local history and the geology of the
high valley of Eisenstein. Wooden benches invite to dwell on and
children will find attractive possibilites to play. Especially impressive
and bizarre is the “galery of goblins”. From an artificially established
spring a little stream gushes out, which supplies fresh water for the
pond and the natural Kneipp basin. The river banks of the Großer
Regen, the edges of the pond and the small forests provide perfect
habitat conditions for a wide range of rare and endangered species of
plants.
The Hikers’ Park was established in 1998 and 1999 as a facility of the
National Park Authority; it was financed within the programme
“Bavarian Future Initiative” of the Free State of Bavaria.

Hiking in the region of Mt Arber/Nature Park
The path, a turnoff of the loop trail “black stork”, is lined on both sides
by mighty spruce, fir and beech trees and leads through an
“enchanted” forest, as this impressive forest area used to be called. It is
at a 11/4h-walk from Bayerisch Eisenstein. For more information please
see the brochure “Virgin Forests of Mt Falkenstein Mt Rachel Area”.
