WELCOME TO THE MLK, JR. GLOBAL HEALTH EQUITY SUMMIT II The Institute for the Advancement of Multicultural & Minority Medicine (IAMMM) is pleased to welcome you to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Global Health Equity Summit. We extend our debt of gratitude to the steering committee: Howard University, American Dental Education Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, New York Institute of Technology, Embassy of Gabon and IAMMM. Through these collaborative efforts, we are proud to convene this historical summit with a broad representation of attendees from academia, health profession associations, Pharma, members of the Diplomatic Corps and civic leaders who will address global health inequities by examining what is working and what needs further review. The theme for the 2013 Summit, Global Health: Common Barriers to Sustainable Impact will drive the agenda over the two scheduled days and with your engagement, determine the next step in our challenge to achieve health equity. We appreciate the support of the steering committee, sponsors, members of the Diplomatic Corps, staff, volunteers and conference attendees. Your commitment to the work of IAMMM is an integral part of our success. Thank you again. Madeline Y. Lawson President & CEO IAMMM 1 ABOUT THE INSTITUTE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF MULTICULTURAL & MINORITY MEDICINE ABOUT IAMMM The Institute for the Advancement of Multicultural & Minority Medicine (IAMMM) was established as a 501 (c) (3) non-‐profit organization to focus primarily on the elimination of health disparities and to fulfill this commitment with much needed programs and resources.
