HEALTH DISPARITIES IN CANCER CARE:
REDUCING THE UNEQUAL BURDEN
June 11, 2010 – 7:30 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m.
The Armstrong Center, Savannah, Georgia
The Health Disparities in Cancer Care: Reducing the
Unequal Burden symposium is a collaborative effort of the
Southeast Georgia Cancer Alliance to create a network of
healthcare providers dedicated to improving the overall
cancer health disparities of the community. Lectures will
provide resources that promote involvement on multiple
levels in all four types of research for cancer health
disparities, and report on how the recent passage of the
Healthcare Reform Law will impact cancer health
disparities. Breakout sessions will give participants the
strategies necessary to implement patient centered care
practices and integrate evidence-based medicine into
treatment planning for all patients regardless of their socioeconomic status. At the conclusion of this symposium,
attendees will have tools necessary to develop processes
that will assist with removing barriers and achieve the
“equal treatment yields equal outcomes” goal of reducing
cancer health disparities.
