KNUT BRENDE Knut started Budo in 1976 and practiced Wado ryu. He also practiced boxing and Thai boxing. Since 1993 he has been instructor in American Tae kwon do Moo Duk Kwan and he is graded 4. Dan in the style. He started Krav Maga in 1996 and also her he is graded 4. dan. SVEIN GARDSø Svein is with his 6th Dan Norway’s highest graded judo instructor. He has been a professional instructor since 1978. He started Larvik judo club in 1982 where he was main instructor until 1995. Since 1990 Svein has coached Norway’s south county regional judo team. And he has also been the coach for the National Norwegian female judo team. Today he is a main instructor in Sandefjord judo club. SVEN-OVE JOHANSEN Sven-Ove has been a professional instructor since 1987, and is 2nd Dan. He is a main instructor for the judo clubs in Sandefjord and Krokstad. Today he is personal coach for four members of Norwegian national team, two youths and two juniors. He got his international referee/judge license, and is a board member of the Norwegian judo referee council. SCANDINAVIAN KARATE TEAM GATHERING INTERNATIONAL MARTIAL ART SUMMER CAMP FOOD AND BEVERAGE National Karate teams from Sweden, Denmark, Island and Norway with their coaches will also join the camp for training and on Saturday there will be competition training. Norwegian coaches will be Morten Alstadsæther, Sveinung Byberg and Geir Henriksen. There is a cafeteria at camp area where they serve breakfast and light lunch for a cheap price. Also you can purchase daily dinner tickets at our café. NORWEGIAN NATIONAL WUSHU TEAM GATHERING SOCIAL GET TOGETHER The official wushu team with their coatches Chris Robinson and Robert Grant will join the camp. Not only will they give classes to the wusho team, but they will also give open classes for those who would like to try and practice wushu. MANDAL Thursday and Friday we will arrange some social activities in the evening. Saturday a lovely barbecue. We light the grill and you make your own food. After we have eaten the karaoke show starts, enter the stage and make some good fun. He was at the first un-official karate camp in Mandal in 1977 and has nearly been on the “Mandal camp” every year since that. It was his teacher Egon Solem who actually is the seed to this camp. In 1993 the camp became an official camp for the Norwegian Federation, and has been that several times since that. Stein has a big name in karate in Norway and during his career he became World champion, European- and Norwegian champion, and also a winner of World Games. He is World champ in forms (taolu) in China and silver in pushing hands from Taiwanese national competition. He was selected to be a member of the Taiwanese national team in 2000. He is now together with Robert coach for the Norwegian national Wushu team. July 2007 THIS YEAR WE PROUDLY PRESENT THE WORLDS GREATEST KICKBOXER: ERNESTO “MR. PERFECT” HOOST Ernesto started boxing at the age of 15. Until then his big passion had been soccer. In 1988 his career accelerated winning several titels in Savate and Thai boxing and he become a full time proffesional kickboxer. In 2006, Hoost declared that he would fight his last tournament in K-1 World Grand Prix 2006. He there reached the semi-finals. An emotional Hoost was met with a standing ovation from the audience as he left the arena. Hoost, who is well known in the Netherlands, is also a celebrity in Japan, where many of his fights have taken place. He has also fought in Australia, France and the United States, among other countries. Nowadays Hoost is living in the town of Hoorn, together with his wife and children. Our camps have always been based on quality and the broadness in Budo (Martial arts) and for us it has always been important to succeed. This years camp is no exception. We always try to seek new interesting instructors and take care of our regular participants. Alone as a club or art we are maybe small but together we are large. Els is a 2. dan judo and 6. dan karate and the highest from Europe in EKU. This is official and she is the only examiner from Holland (woman). Wim is former coach/trainer of the Dutch karate team (2000-2002). 3 dan judo, 3. dan ju jitsu, kickboxing teacher and 6. dan karate. They bouth practice the Wado ryu style. Together they run the Sportschool Muilwijk in Dordrecht. RENÈ VAN AMERSFOORT Started Wado ryu karate-do in 1975. Iaido and kendo in 1980. Jodo in 1982. Kickboxing 1991. Became officially karate teacher in 1984 in which year Kiryoku dojo was formed where lessons are given in all 5 budodisciplines during four days a week. Starting to teach internationally with iaido and jodo in 1996. Budo for Renè is about etiquette, correct techniques, hard training and always trying to improve himselv and his students to be better then yesterday. He reached the level of 5th dan wado ryu, 7th dan iaido renshi, 7th dan jodo renshi and 2nd kendo. JAN MUILWIJK Jan is a descendant of a true budo family. He has 6. Dan judo and 2. dan karate. Raised in a family with father Teun, 7. Dan, mother Jenny 2. Dan and two other brothers and three sisters all dan grade holders in judo. Not to mention the other grades in karate and ju jutsu it will be many grades. Together with brother Wim he manages the Sportschool Muilwijk in Dordrecht, established in 1948, supported by a great number of family members. In 2005 he gave out the book “Go No Kata” reconstruction of a lost kata. Jan will take us thru the kata during the camp together with his uke Ad Zijlmans. Annelies Bouma National coach for the Dutch youth team since 2001. Annelies has 5. Dan karate, Wado styly and 1. Dan judo. Twenty times Dutch champion in karate, 2. place with team World Championship in Grenada –92, 2. place World games -94, 3. place European champ –98 and several other top places in open championships. Annelies will of cause give lessons in kumite, with special classes for the youngest once. Bjørn Gustavsson Bjørn has practiced kendo for more than 20 years and he is graded 6. Dan. He has been a member of the Swedish national team for 17 years and participated in many international competitions where he has taken many prices. He is thirteen times Swedish champion, one time European champion, two times 2nd place and two times 3rd place also European championship. He has been several times to Japan for practicing. He is now one of four main coaches in Sweden and give lessons in Sweden and abroad. Ken Culshaw Ken has visited Mandal several times before, and always with the greatest of popularity. He instructs in a direct and effective Ju Jutsu art, including many different weapons, such as Bo and Jo. He started his Ju Jutsu training in 1968 with the British Ju Jutsu Association under Soke Jim Blundell. Ken achieved his 1st Dan in 1977. He finally formed Welham Martial Arts (WMA) in 1995, mainly to keep true to the teachings of John Blundell. Matts Andersson Matts was together last year with Okabayashi Sensei from Japan and this year he comes back. Matts started Yui Shin Kan Karate in 1981 and Ryukyu Kobujutsu under Gansho (Motokatsu) Inoue (1918-1993) sensei in 1987 at hombu dojo in Japan. He holds 5. Dan under Kisho Inoue sensei, whom is president for Yui Shin Kai and Ryukyu kobujutsu Hozon Shinko Kai. Matts has since 2003 teach karate and Ryukyu kobujutsu professionally. Jim R Sindt Jim has trained karate for more than 20 years, plus several other martial arts. He is a representative and student of the famous karate instructor, historian and author Patrick McCarthy. He is 3. Dan Koryu Uchinadi and 4. Dan Shorinryu (matsubayashi). He has traveled, instructed and trained in many countries and have had several stays practicing in Okinawa. Jim is also instructor in the art of Yamane-ryu Kobudo. Theme during the camp: “Putting the fight back in kata”. Jim will teach applications from several different kata from various styles. Soke K. Yamaue He was born in Japan in 1946 and graduated in Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. His father taught him Judo and chiropractic techniques, one of his uncles taught him Gojuryu karate and his grandfather taught him Aiki Jutsu and Aikido. He also practised Shorinji Kempo and different kinds of Chinese Kung Fu. André Aurdahl André has over 20 years experience in Kung fu and has practised under Master Yngve Eriksen since 1984 who has practice under the great Chinese Master Kim. André has practiced over 7 different Kung fu styles and the last years he has combined this with grappling. He will focus on cat form this camp, but also those who want to go through the snake form will get opportunities to do so. Navdeep (Sonu) Kumar Sonu has practice martial art for over 16 years and the last 13 years he has practice Kung fu with André. Sonu is also giving instructions at 4 training center where he give classes in Astanga Vinyasa – ”Power Yoga”. He will assist André with this years Kung fu classes. Karl Johan Remøy and Jimmy Bohafra Visited us last time in 2001 with great sucsess. He has practiced phillipino martial arts since 1987 but the last years he has broden his horizons and worked on including Indoneesian, Malayan and Thai Martial arts. Karl Johan will together with Sifu Jimmy Bohafra 4. Dan Imua Shantung Kuntao under Tai Sifu Armando Soto. Together they will do classen in south East Asian selvfdefence with and with out knife. This class will be based for those over 16 years old. Knut Nerheim Knut is leader of the technical comite Krav Maga Norge. He is graded 4. Dan Wado ryu karate and 4. Dan Krav Maga. He is one of the establisher of Krav Maga in Norway over 10 years ago. He is daily instructor in Oslo Krav Maga club and also leader and instructor in Ski karate club.
