and AERODrones
AERO takes aim at the next
generation
Friedrichshafen - The AERO will take off with about
600 exhibitors from April 20 to 23, 2016. In 2016, the
focus of Europe’s largest general aviation trade fair
will stretch from light aircraft and helicopters to
business jets. At the same time, special thematic
focus areas like the e-flight expo, Avionics Avenue,
the Aero Conferences, the Engine Area and
AERODrones will return in 2016. The Aviation and
Pilots Competence Center will be oriented towards
the next generation of potential pilots.
Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellman and project
leader Roland Bosch are pleased that the international
aviation exhibition is now up to 80 percent booked. "For the
upcoming AERO, we specifically want to strengthen our
appeal to visitors who have not yet learned to fly. With the
‘Be a Pilot’ slogan, the new presentation of many
120-kilogram aircraft in the ultralight class, and the offer of
inexpensive glider training for people as young as fourteen,
we want to show that it is relatively easy to become a
pilot”, states Roland Bosch.

The Global Show
for General Aviation
April 20 – 23, 2016
Friedrichshafen, Germany
The globally influential leading European trade show for
"small” aircraft will again present the entire spectrum of
general aviation: Single- and multi-engine piston-driven
airplanes, helicopters, gyrocopters, turboprops and
multi-engine jets for business travel will be showcased.
They will be joined by new aircraft engines and avionics,
aviation accessories and services, as well as flight schools.
Four thematic pillars of this specialized trade show - the
AERO Conference, the Engine Area, Avionics Avenue and
the Aviation and Pilots Competence Center (APCC) have
established themselves and will again offer the latest
important industry information. The Engine Area will show
off modern aircraft engines from the widest range of
manufacturers that are based on electric, combustion or
hybrid technology. Innovative propulsion systems will also
be there, especially those that are very economical, light or
quiet.
As part of the Avionics Avenue special area, the latest
developments and equipment related to flight control,
navigation, collision warning and flight planning for
airplanes and helicopters will be presented. Avionics
Avenue is likely to experience an additional boost in
demand thanks to recent changes that facilitate instrument
certification training in Europe. The end of the deadline to
switch radio equipment over to 8.33 kHz channel spacing in
VFR operations will also generate growing turnover for
avionics manufacturers. Visitors will not just be able to get
information about the equipment, but will also have the
opportunity to test much of it.
For the second time, the AERO will also offer the Aviation

and Pilots Competence Center. This area is targeted not
just at pilots, but at everyone interested in aviation who
could see themselves attending flight school. Information
and offers from flight schools are available at the center,
but it also serves as a point of contact to government
agencies and interest groups such as the Luftfahrt
Bundesamt, EASA, AOPA, the Deutscher Wetterdienst, the
German national meteorological service, and Deutsche
Flugsicherung, the German air traffic control organization.
Visitors can get information about especially attractive
flight training options that make getting your own pilot’s
license easier and less expensive, such as training in the
120-kilogram class of ultralight aircraft, glider training
starting for ages fourteen and above, or training in the new
ultralight helicopter category which is expected to be
created in Germany. The e-flight-expo, featuring
alternative drive concepts, will also take place for the
eighth time as part of the AERO, this year under the slogan
"Electrical, Ecological, Evolutionary.” Electically-propelled
ultralights, powered gliders and rotary wing aircraft will be
at its focus.
For the third time, the AERODrones will show off the
dynamic advances in the development of civilian drones.
Their spectrum of applications within general aviation
continues to grow, which is why unmanned aircraft with the
most modern sensor and measurement technology from
various manufacturers will be showcased at the AERO.
Possible drone applications will be demonstrated as part of
an indoor flying display for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
(UAV).
The AERO 2016 will begin on Wednesday, April 20 and last
