OVERNIGHT CAMPS AT
YMCA CAMP CAMPBELL
TRADITIONAL OVERNIGHT CAMP
OUR PROGRAM
Our two-week program emphasizes growth and
strengthening character values in all campers.
Throughout the program, campers learn more about
themselves and how to work together as a cabin group.
Whether it is playing an all-camp game, learning new
skills in an activity session, eating dinner in the dining
lodge, or dressing up for our Wacky Tacky Tuesdays,
campers form meaningful relationships, try new things,
and have tons of fun.
Camp is full of traditional outdoor activities like
campfires, hikes, skits and songs, cabin cheers
and the chance to sleep under the stars. Over two
weeks, campers disconnect from the technology
and distractions of outside life. Here at camp, our
number one priority is providing a safe, positive
camper experience. We believe that campers are
most successful when given the opportunity to push
themselves out of their comfort zones and discover in
themselves resiliency, responsibility and confidence.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT
SIX-DAY CAMP
At YMCA Camp Campbell, we value camper’s choices
by giving them a voice. Campers are asked to pursue
four activity areas they are passionate about.
Progressive: Throughout the week campers
develop their skills and abilities in these four activity
areas.
Discover: Campers are given additional activity
choices during the week to try new activities and
discover what he/she can achieve away from home
and school.
Learn: Through these achievements campers build
confidence, knowledge, and a new found sense of
excitement to learn.
Not quite ready for a full camp session? We offer a
six-day, five-night program to introduce campers to
camp and our program, and to get them ready for
the full two weeks of camp. Campers spend their
week doing fun activities, making lasting friendships,
and living in a cabin with other campers of similar
ages.
CABIN LIFE
One of the best parts of camp is meeting new
people and spending time together as a cabin. In
cabins, campers of similar ages live together and
learn to make lasting friendships. Campers develop
camaraderie with their cabin mates and counselors
as they learn to make decisions as a group. Our staff
are positive adult role models that help campers
take responsibility for themselves and others, work
together to solve problems, and have fun at camp.
MEALS
Our dining hall features wholesome, kid-friendly
food. Meals are a great time to meet new campers
and counselors and to learn a sense of responsibility.
While supervised by counselors, campers serve their

ADDITIONAL TEEN PROGRAMMING
TEEN ADVENTURE CAMP - CLASSIC
LEADER IN TRAINING (LIT) PROGRAM
Teens enjoy 12 days of incredible adventures with
an emphasis on leadership skills, teamwork and
perseverance. Activities include rock climbing,
backpacking through the redwood forest, low and
high ropes courses, a trip to the beautiful Central
Coast and whitewater rafting on the American River.
Specially hired and trained trip leaders teach teens
skills that will last a lifetime about safely enjoying the
outdoors. Campers learn about backcountry travel,
outdoor cooking and minimal impact camping in a
noncompetitive and stress-free environment. Teen
Adventure Camp is a fun, outdoor experience that
is relevant beyond camp by developing self-reliance,
self-confidence and group leadership skills—all while
making lifelong friendships and memories.
Summer camp shapes strong leaders. In fact, studies
have proven that camp equips young people for
leadership like few other programs. The LIT program
is a “life” program that helps prepare teens for
adulthood, college, and additional responsibility.
It is an opportunity for teens to step away from
technology and school pressures and grow together as
a community that supports each other in trying new
things, becoming strong role models and taking on
challenges

JOIN. GIVE. VOLUNTEER. ADVOCATE.
As the leading nonprofit for youth development,
healthy living and social responsibility, the Y works
side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure
that everyone, regardless of age, income or background,
has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. To do our
important work, the Y relies on support from members,
donors, volunteers and community leaders.
HELPING CHILDREN THRIVE
When you are involved with the Y, you help bring about
lasting personal and social change. Whether you want
to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve
your or your family’s health and wellness, or give back
and support your neighbors, your involvement with
the Y will positively impact those in your community.
Research shows that there are essential elements
that are crucial to their healthy development. We call
these elements “Developmental Assets”—the positive
experiences, relationships, opportunities and values
that young people need to thrive. We integrate these
into all our programs and services.
JOIN THE Y: Be a part of a cause for strengthening
community that is committed every day to helping
you and your kids learn, grow and thrive.
Project Cornerstone
At the Y, we partner with Project Cornerstone to help
adults connect with children and youth in a positive
way to help young people thrive.
The essential building blocks
for young people’s successful
growth and development fall
into eight categories:
GIVE TO THE Y: Donate vital financial resources for
nurturing the potential of kids, improving the nation’s
health and wellness, and giving back and supporting
our neighbors.
1. Support—Young people need to experience
support, care, and love from their families and
many others. They need organizations and
institutions that provide positive, supportive
environments.
VOLUNTEER AT THE Y: Take an active role in bringing
about meaningful, enduring change right in your own
neighborhood.
2. Empowerment—Young people need to be valued
by their community and have opportunities to
contribute to others. For this to occur, they must
be safe and feel secure.
ADVOCATE WITH THE Y: Address the nation’s
most pressing social issues, with a nonprofit that has
the long-standing track record and on-the-ground
presence to both promise and deliver lasting personal
and social change.
Visit paloaltofamilyymca.org for giving, employment
and volunteer opportunities.
3. Boundaries and expectations—Young people
need to know what is expected of them and
whether activities and behaviors are “in bounds”
or “out of bounds.”
4. Constructive use of time—Young people need
constructive, enriching opportunities for growth
through creative activities, youth programs,
congregational involvement, and quality time
at home.
5. Commitment to learning—Young people
need to develop a lifelong commitment to
education and training.
6. Positive values—Young people need to develop
strong values that guide their choices.
7. Social Competencies—Young people need
skills and competencies that equip them to make
positive choices, build relationships, and succeed
in life.
8. Positive identity—Young people need a
strong sense of their own power, purpose, worth,
and promise.
You have the power to change lives. By building
assets with Silicon Valley’s children and youth, you
can help them to become competent, caring, and
responsible adults.
