Board and Card Game Extravaganza
The international success of tin toys was launched in Nürnberg
in the middle of the 18th century. They started as educational
toys, became collector objects and today they are used in table
top games. The family business founded by Ernst Heinrichsen
in 1839 accompanied this evolution with a diversity of 16,000
moulds and is today headed by the sixth generation.
Marking the company‘s 175th anniversary, the museum of
Altstadtfreunde Nürnberg e.V. is staging a temporary exhibition of tin soldiers and goose girls.
The Nürnberg Games Festival invites Spielwarenmesse visitors to
join in the fun of the game: new products, a games desk with
more than 800 card and board games and games tournaments
offer endless pleasure. Workshops focus on inventing games,
games from around the globe and global balance in games. The
theme table presents 2015 board games from 10 countries. On
Sunday at 6 p.m. the ecumenical toy fair service sermon on „Risk
- mission accomplished?“ looks at the risks, courage, strategies
and alliances in life.
Municipal, ecclesiastical and youth organizations run the Nürnberg Games Festival: ALI BABA Spieleclub e.V., Bund der Deutschen Katholischen Jugend Nbg.-Stadt, City of Nürnberg Youth
Welfare Office, Evangelische Jugend Nbg., German Games Archive Nürnberg, Jugendbüro Team Altstadt, JugendKinderKulturhaus
Quibble, Katholischen Jugendstellen Nbg. and KJR NürnbergStadt.

The Nazi Party Rally Grounds, laid out by Hitler’s National Socialists, is a permanent reminder to Nuremberg of the city’s obligation to analyze and discuss the
darkest chapter of German history.
The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds and the Memorium
Nuremberg Trials explain on the original historical sites the causal factors and
consequences of the National Socialist reign of terror as well as the significance
of the International Military Tribunal.

The Toy Museum‘s temporary exhibition „made in GDR“
provides a first-ever insight into the history of toys in the former
GDR. Throughout this forty year period toys „made in GDR“ remained a profitable export in the East and West. Dr. Karin Falkenberg, Toy Museum Director, touches on all the stories underpinning the temporary exhibition in her Sunday guided tour at
6.30 p.m.
The permanent exhibition of the world-famous toy museum displays the treasures of children through the ages, from dolls, play
shops, tin figures and playthings, traditional wooden toys and a
model railway to modern-day toys like Lego, Barbie and Playmobil.
Sunday, 1.2.2015, 6.30 p.m.

Activities in the center of Nürnberg
®
Nürnberg is alive with the Spielwarenmesse : in the shops,
in the bars and, above all, among the people. The programme
continues in the centre of Nürnberg long after the fair has
closed. The ToyCity programme bundles the many activities.
®
See for yourself and be part of the Spielwarenmesse .

Tour of the Nürnberg nightlife
The Fabulous Toon Walk
®
The creative dynamic of the Spielwarenmesse inspires the entire
city - and also Nürnberg´s bartenders. They competed against
one another with their cocktail creations. A jury selected the
most delicious drink as ToyCocktail 2015. Spielwarenmesse eG
organised the competition jointly with Barkommune Nürnberg.
Try out the winning cocktail yourself: All bars that took part in
the competition will be serving the winning cocktail during the
®
Spielwarenmesse , not to mention their own bar
favourites on request. Cheers!
Nürnbergs TOON WALK invites you to join in on the celebrations
on Saturday, 31 January 2015 and party as much, laugh as loud
and walk as long as you can! The Toon Walk is a display of over
150 large-than-life cartoon characters, including such familiar
fellows as Homer Simpson, Garfield, Sid and Scrat and many
more, which will be livening up the city’s centre with a colourful
parade.

Are you on the lookout for innovative products and busines®
concepts? If so, check out JOSEPHS at the Spielwarenmesse .
The store project is an innovative world of experience co-designed by the Fraunhofer Institute in cooperation with Friedrich-Alexander University. The project forms a hub including a
workshop, think tank, gadget shop, consumer goods developers and testers and consumers. Consumers can experience,
try out, and feedback innovative market ideas and service
concepts and thus take an active part in co-designing ideas
through their feedback.
Every book and game unfolds a world of experience. Meet the
creative geniuses behind the game worlds in person at the Thalia Campe book store. Game creators present their new products at Nürnberg´s main book store during the
®
Spielwarenmesse . They relate how they hit upon their original
ideas for games, and how they devised their rules.
Dr. Frank Danzinger, Fraunhofer-Institute, invites you to join
him on a tour marking the finissage of the theme world „Your
active and hand-made free time“ on Wednesday 28.1.2015 at
7 p.m. He presents the JOSEPHS concept with the theme
world as an example that combines technology for leisure
sports, digital crotchet trends, handicrafts with modern laser
technology and public gaming. As of Saturday 31.1.2015
JOSEPHS will be presenting its new theme world of electric
vehicles with electric scooters and everything that is “E”.
