The original system
1. BASELAYER
By constantly pushing boundaries of what
is possible, our performance base layer
with Lifa ® stay dry technologyTM, has kept
athletes warm and dry next to skin for more
than 30 years.The unique Lifa ® technology
transport excess heat and comfort stealing
moisture away from the body, out to the
thermal layer, allowing for extended comfort
and performance. Read more about HH
WARMTM and HH DRYTM on pg 36 and 40.
2. THERMAL LAYER
The thermal layer formed by Profleece
and ProstretchTM originates from the Helly
Hansen fiber pile launched 1970.
ProstretchTM is a micro fleece with a low
bulk construction for maximum agility and
Profleece is a double sided construction
for that extra warmth. The thermal layer
transfers moisture from the baselayer out to
the protective layer, where it can be released
from the system. Check out our thermal
products on page 42.
3. PROTECTIVE SHELL
This outer layer protects you from the
elements outside, sheltering you from wind
and water while allowing moisture from the
thermal layer to escape through breathable
membrane. The protective layer is available
both as soft and hard shells depending on
the intended usage and personal
preference. Helly Tech® with its waterproof
and breathable features is the technology
and fabric for our hard shells and Interface
with its soft-textured, stretch-woven fabric,
yet waterproofresistant and highly
breathable, is the fabric for our soft shells.

“I have spent my whole life on skis and it’s
always been a dream of mine to film with
film companies like Matchstick Productions
and to ski from a helicopter.
Last year I started talking to Matchstick
Productions about going on a heli trip but
the fact that I was actually going didn’t really
sink in till I got the final call to pack my bags.
Skiing from a helicopter is different from
anything else I had ever done. Scouting
lines, looking at different aspects from
the heli and trying to figure out the snow
conditions is all challenging. Not to
mention that sometimes it can be hard
to tell if a cliff in your line is 16 or 60 feet.
Once I started to get the feel for the whole
process I began to love flying. It can still
definitely be nerve racking being around
a huge noisy machine all day, especially
while you’re trying to concentrate on your
skiing, but it is an amazing experience.
My big break with Matchstick Productions
definitely came as a surprise at first. It’s
always been a goal of mine, so I really had
to let everything sink in and accept that
I was getting my chance. Every day I’m
doing my best to take advantage of this
amazing opportunity.”

as much of the country, its
people, and their culture
as I can. On some trips
the itinerary and work that
needs to get done makes
it difficult but I always try
to find at least sometime
to slow down and really
experience the places and
the people.
One of the coolest places
I’ve travelled to is Iceland.
The thing that struck me
most is how quiet it is; the
silence is just amazing.
The country is so small
and the people there are
mostly concentrated to the
cities, so when you go into
the countryside there is
this amazing empty feeling.
I think that even if I wasn’t
a pro snowboarder I would
travel as much as possible
but I certainly would not
have had the opportunity
to see as much as I have
without it.”

”I’ve been a skateboarder for 17 yrs and
a snowboarder for nearly as long. Since
I began, my perception of the world
around me has been forever altered. I’m
on a mission. My radar is on all the time
and everywhere I go I see a new spot to
skate or snowboard. Every new spot has
endless opportunities and I find myself
dreaming about the potential tricks
for hours.
About ten years ago searching for
creative jibs, rails, and drops has
changed from being something I would
do from the back of my parents car or on
the school bus to a fulltime job.
Now that things have become a bit more
serious, it’s important to keep the history
of a spot in mind. If other pro riders have
filmed at the spot you need to know what
tricks have already been done and try
something new. If you’re lucky enough
to find a brand new spot you can do any
trick you want.
This was the fortunate situation in St.
Anton, Austria when I found the concrete
bank on the side of the road. The bank
was only a few blocks away from our
apartment so we scoped it for a couple
of days. The set up felt like a skate spot
but in snowboard scale. There was a very
short landing zone before you ended
up in a nice cold river, but it was doable.
After several bomb drops to test the grip
of the concrete, I began 50-50ing the curb

“I grew up in Chicago, and lived there for
most of my life. The nearest “mountain”,
a 200 vertical ft hill made entirely of manmade snow, was an hour and 30 minutes
away from my home.
My dad was the hill’s Head Ski Instructor
and my mom taught lessons parttime.
My brothers and I would spend every
spare moment skiing laps on the tiny hill.
We would bomb the short icy runs from
the time the mountain opened until our
parents had to order the lifties to kick
us out.
I definitely benefited from growing up in
a huge ski family near a small resort since
my brothers and I all grew up developing
the same passion for skiing. They taught

me everything I know and motivated me
to push myself past my limits.
We’re more like best friends than siblings
because we all strive for the same goals
and share the same interests. My parents
understood our passion and made the
choice to pick up and move our whole
family and lifestyle across the country
so we could pursue careers in skiing.
