Geboren 1980 in Leipzig, Deutschland. Erster Unterricht 1984 in Leipzig bei Inge Schmidt. Weiterer
Unterricht bei Michael Vogler (1996-2002), Stephan Picard (seit 2003) und Eberhard Feltz (seit 1999).
Meisterkurse bei Rainer Kussmaul (2007), Kolja Blacher (2005), Erich Höbarth (2007), Shmuel
Ashkenasi (2008). Studium an der Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin. 2005 Diplom und 2008
Konzertexamen mit Auszeichnung. 2006 3. Preis beim Internationalen Max-Rostal-Violin-Wettbewerb,
2005 Boris-Pergamenshikov-Preis für Kammermusik, 2007 3. Preis „Michael Hill-Violin Competition“
Auckland (Neuseeland), 2008 Sonderpreis für zeitgenössische Musik beim Violinwettbewerb „Andrea
Postacchini“ in Fermo, Italien.
Internationale Konzerttätigkeit (USA, Japan) als Solist und Kammermusiker. Primarius des ChagallQuartetts, Auftritte bei zahlreichen Festivals wie z. B. beim Rheingau Musikfestival, Festival
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Orfeo-Festival. Lehrauftrag für Violine an der Hochschule für Musik
„Hanns Eisler“ Berlin. Seit 2009 Violinist des Morgenstern Trios und mit diesem Trio viele Konzerte
u.a. in Luxemburg, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Wien und Graz.
Das Duo Hempel-Seroussi gründete sich anlässlich eines Kulturaustausches mit der Julliard-School
in New York, seitdem regelmäßig Konzerte in Deutschland und im Ausland. Ende 2009 erschien eine
CD-Aufnahme mit Werken von Schumann und Elgar.
Das Duo wurde auf Initiative des Wettbewerbs zu einem Konzert im Rahmen des Festival
Internacional de Ushuaia, Argentinien, am 4. Mai 2009 eingeladen. Daniel Seroussi konnte darüber
hinaus am 7. Mai 2009 als Klaviersolist mit dem Moskauer Symphonie-Orchester bei diesem Festival
auftreten.
Stefan HEMPEL – Violin
Born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1980. First violin lessons in 1984 with Inge Schmidt in Leipzig. Further
studies with Michael Vogler (1996-2002), Stephan Picard (since 2003) and Eberhard Feltz (since
1999). Master classes with Rainer Kussmaul (2007), Kolja Blacher (2005), Erich Höbarth (2007),
Shmuel Ashkenasi (2008). Studies at the Academy of Music “Hanns Eisler“ Berlin. Diploma in 2005
and Professional Performance Degree with distinction in 2008.
In 2006 3rd prize in the International Max-Rostal-Violin-Competition, in 2005 Boris Pergamenshikov
prize for chamber music, in 2007 3rd prize in the Michael-Hill-Violin-Competition in Auckland, New
Zealand, in 2008 special prize for contemporary music in the Andrea-Postacchini-Violin-Competition in
Fermo, Italy. International performing career (USA, Japan) as soloist and chamber musician. First
violinist of the Chagall Quartett, appearances at numerous festivals such as the Rheingau Music
Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and Orfeo Festival. Currently he is teaching violin at the
Academy of Music “Hanns Eisler“ Berlin. Violinist in the Morgenstern Trio since 2009 and numerous
concerts with this trio in Luxembourg, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Vienna and Graz.
The Duo Hempel/Seroussi was formed for a cultural exchange programme with the Julliard School in
New York and, since then, has performed regularly in Germany and abroad. A CD recording with
works by Schumann and Elgar was released at the end of 2009.
The competition committee arranged a concert within the framework of the Festival Internacional de
Ushuaia, Argentina on 4 May, 2009 for the duo. In addition, Daniel Seroussi was able to perform at
this festival as a piano soloist with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra on 7 May, 2009.
