Sieg und Niederlage am „Tag Zwei“ des Europacups für die Sharx
Die Sharx müssen sich am zweiten Tag des Europacups gegen das italienische Team
aus Forli mit 5:1 geschlagen geben. Spiel Nr. 3 gegen die Hamburg Knights geht
jedoch klar mit Mercy Rule im 6. Inning (14:4) an die Haie.
Die Sharx starteten mit einer starken Offense im
Spiel gegen Forli und erzielten im ersten Inning
einen Run. Holly Krzan kam durch einen Hit zum
Pitcher auf die 1B und wird von Moe Wood durch
einen schönen Schlag ins Centerfield in scoring
position gebracht. Stacie Townsend brachte sie
anschließend durch einen weiteren Hit ins
Centerfield nach Hause. Weiters landete Kirsten
Whitt den vierten Hit im ersten Inning. Somit ein
starker Auftakt der Haie gegen die italienische
Pitcherin. Forli erzielte anschließend ebenfalls
einen Run im ersten Inning. In den folgenden
Innings ließ die Offense der Sharx etwas nach,
obwohl alle Spielerinnen schöne Ballkontakte
hatten. Danielle Spaulding gelingt im dritten Inning
ein schöner Hit ins Centerfield, Holly Krzan und
Birgit Pischinger zeigen Hits im fünften Inning. Forli erzielt jedoch im zweiten und vierten
Inning jeweils einen Run, im fünften Inning sogar zwei zum 5:1. Die Sharx kommen im 7.
Inning nochmals zurück. Kim Kaye gelangt durch einen Bunt auf die 1B, Holly Krzan schlägt
einen Hit ins Centerfield und bringt sie weiter auf die dritte Base. Der Run kann jedoch nicht
mehr gescort werden und die Sharx verlieren mit 5:1.
Eine hervorragende Leistung zeigte shortstop Holly Krzan. Sie erzielte drei Hits und einen
Walk von vier at bats – Gratulation!
Im zweiten Spiel des Tages standen die Haie den Hamburg Knights gegenüber. Im Circle für
die Sharx startete Danielle Spaulding. Sie hatte die Gegnerinnen fest im Griff und erzielte
zehn Strike Outs von 14 At Bats. Die Offense der Sharx war im Spiel gegen Deutschland
durch viele Bunts geprägt. Dadurch konnte im zweiten Innings der erste Run zur Führung
von Stacie Townsend erzielt werden. Im vierten Inning war erneut Stacie am Schlag und
erzielte einen Homerun. Danielle Spaulding setzte einen Hit ins Centerfield nach und Kirsten
Whitt erzielte im Anschluss den zweiten Homerun für die Sharx im Europacup. Sarka
Koprivova und Barbara Vogel setzten beide Hits ins Rightfield nach und die Sharx bauten
ihre Führung mit 4:0 aus. Im fünften Inning konnten fünf weitere Runs zum 10:0 gescort
werden. Im circle der Sharx wurde Danielle Spaulding von Conny Chwojka abgelöst. Im Feld
passierten nun ein paar Fehler und die Hamburg Knights konnten vier Runs scoren und
somit die Mercy Rule im fünften Inning verhindern. Die Haie starteten nun im sechs Inning
nochmals stark in der batters box und erzielten vier weitere Punkte zum 14:4. Das Spiel
wurde anschließend von Pitcherin Stacie Townsend mit drei Strike Outs beendet und die
Sharx freuten sich riesig über den ersten Sieg im Europacup.
Erwähnenswert die Leistung von Centerfielder Kirsten Whitt. Von vier At Bats erzielte sie vier
hits – darunter einen Bunt, Homerun, Double und Single. Go Kirsten! Ebenso erhielt
Nachwuchsspielerin Nici Wittek ihren ersten Einsatz der Woche und erzielte einen schönen
Hit ins Rightfield!
Am Mittwoch, den 19. August spielen die Sharx um 14.00 Uhr gegen das griechische Team
Maroussi.
On the second day of the European Cup the Sharx lost one game to Forli (Italy) and
won one game against the Hamburg Knights (Germany).
In the game against Italy the offense of the Sharx started strong. Holly Krzan got on base
with a hit right back to the pitcher. Moe Wood hit the ball to the centerfielder and brought
Holly into scoring position. Next, Stacie Townsend hit the ball into centerfield and Holly
scored the first run for the Sharx. Kirsten Whitt got hit number four for the Sharx in the first
inning, but no more runners scored. When Forli came up to bat, they got their lead off hitter
on base and finally she scored. In the next innings, the Sharx had great ball contact but were
not able to score more runs. Danielle Spaulding hit a shot to centerfield in the third inning,
Holly Krzan and Birgit Pischinger had great hits in the fifth inning. Still Forli was able to score
one run in the second and the fourth inning and another two runs in the fifth inning. The
Sharx fought back and in the seventh inning Kim Kaye got on base with a nice bunt. Holly
Krzan got another hit to centerfield and brought Kim Kaye into scoring position. Still the
runner was not hit home and so the final score against Italy was 5:1.
In the second game of the day the Sharx were
facing the Hamburg Knights from Germany.
Danielle Spaulding started in the circle for the
Sharx and did a fabulous job. She fired the ball
and got 10 strike outs out of 14 at bats. Also
the offense of the Sharx was very strong. The
girls from Austria faced four different pitchers
and were able to adjust to each of them.
Finally they got 15 hits and scored 14 runs
altogether. In the fourth inning Stacie
Townsend came up to bat and hit a bomb over
the outfield fence – homerun. Dani Spaulding
followed with a hit to centerfield and Kirsten
Whitt sent another ball over the fence –
homerun nr. two for the Sharx. Sarka
Koprivova and Barbara Vogel followed with
nice hits to rightfield and the Sharx lead the game with 4:0. More great hits were shown in
the fifth inning and the score was 10:0. Conny Chwojka got into the pitcher circle for Dani
Spaulding, but was not supported by the defense. So the team from Germany got four runs.
The Sharx came up to bat once again, scoring another four runs. Finally Stacie Townsend
finished the game in the pitcher circle for the Sharx. Final score: 14:4.
On Wednesday, 19th of August the Sharx will face Maroussi from Greece at 2 pm. The team
from Austria has to win the game to go on to the play-offs with the best six teams of the
tournament.
