Principal’s News
“Open Our Hearts, Lord”
This week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. The
students honored those that help to make our school a
wonderful place to learn. Thank you parents, staff,
volunteers, teachers, priests, and religious. It takes a
village to raise a child. We appreciate you being part
of our village.
We also celebrated those that were our Enthusiasm
virtue award recipients. The students amaze me every
day with their growth in trying to live out the virtues.

“Divine Mercy in the Gospels”
A powerful Parish Mission presentation
February 14 - 18, 2016 at 7:00 pm
St. Simon the Apostle will be presenting a parish
mission entitled: “Divine Mercy in the Gospels.” In
our busy world, with numerous things pulling us in
every direction, how do we keep our focus? How
can we find peace and joy through real, personal,
intimate encounters with Himself! This parish
mission is designed to help us to grow in our
relationships with Jesus, to come to know Him more
personally and intimately through our sacramental
encounters with Him, and to come to know the
depths of His Mercy toward us.
The mission will be presented from Sunday through
Thursday, February 14 - 18 at 7:00 pm with
Eucharistic Adoration from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. The
mission conference will last no more than one hour
and fellowship will follow in the LCH.
A “parish mission” is a special event for Catholics in
which EVERYONE is invited to take part in several
days of activity and prayer, all focusing on their
coming to a better understanding of the Faith. A
mission is conducted by a guest priest who speaks
on topics directed toward key aspects of faith
applied to life issues. Those who attend a parish
mission often experience a spiritual renewal,
bringing about a deeper love for God, a more firm
commitment to the Faith, and a revitalization of
their personal relationships.
For our parish mission, St. Simon has invited a
priest from The Fathers of Mercy. For over 200
years this congregation of priests has evangelized
and strengthened the faith of parish communities
through their exciting form of preaching that is
powerful, thought-provoking and points us to God’s
Great Mercy. The missionary will be preaching each
evening as well as celebrating the 8:15 am Mass,
Monday through Thursday.
The Father of Mercy hope to enrich the faith of all
who attend and to give them a more clear
understanding of what the Church teaches and
WHY. The conferences are for those who are
already devout, as well as those who may be
doubtful. For people who are not Catholic, or who
are unclear about what it is that Catholics really
believe, the parish mission is an exciting way to
receive a clear presentation of the Catholic faith.
Parents, please encourage your children, especially
your teens, on the importance of attending this
parish mission, even as you set an example for them
by your own attendance. Additionally, it is hoped
that everyone will be sure to bring along a friend or
relative who might not otherwise intend to go alone.
The priest conducting this mission will be Fr. Ben
Cameron, CPM
In order to help you grow in holiness, this priest
desires you to come to meet Christ in His
Sacraments and in your neighbor. To help fulfill
your desire for more intimacy with God, as well as
to provide an opportunity for the Sacrament of
Reconciliation, priests will be available for
confessions each night of the parish mission.
The Fathers of Mercy associate their work at parish
missions with a scripture passage taken from the
Gospel of St. John, in which Jesus speaks to those
who desire to be His followers.
Jesus turned, and saw them following, and
said to them, ‘What do you seek?’ And they
said to Him, ‘Rabbi’ (which means “teacher”),
‘where are You staying?’ He said to them,
‘Come and see’. (John 1:38-39)
St. Simon Parish and The Fathers of Mercy
welcome all to attend this dynamic parish mission.
Please mark the dates on your calendar and come
learn more about the Infinite Mercy of our God “Divine Mercy in the Gospels.”
NOTE:
THERE WILL BE NO BINGO, MEETINGS OR
ATHLETIC GAMES/PRACTICES DURING THE
PARISH MISSION - SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14
STARTING AT 7 PM THROUGH THURSDAY,
FEBRUARY 18.
