1938
In December, Pinnacle
opens Lumière Place
in downtown St. Louis,
Missouri. The casino
entertainment complex
includes the Four Seasons
Hotel St. Louis, which was
named one of the 500
World’s Best Hotels by
Travel + Leisure magazine,
and HoteLumière.
The company changes its name to
Pinnacle Entertainment to better
reflect its collection of assets and
values. Later that year, Pinnacle
opens Belterra Casino Resort &
Spa in Vevay, Indiana, attracting
guests from Ohio, Kentucky and
other nearby states.
Pinnacle Entertainment traces its roots back
to 1938, when movie mogul Jack L. Warner
opened the celebrated Hollywood Park Turf
Club racetrack in Inglewood, California.
2005
In May, Pinnacle opens
L’Auberge du Lac Casino
Resort in Lake Charles,
Louisiana, followed by Casino
Magic Neuquén in Argentina.
In August 2005, Hurricane
Katrina hits the Gulf Coast
and destroys Casino Magic
Biloxi. Pinnacle donates
$250,000 to the American Red
Cross for hurricane relief.
1997
After many years in the
horseracing business,
the company begins its
transformation into a major
casino hotel operator
with the acquisition of
Boomtown Inc. The
purchase includes
Boomtown New Orleans
in Harvey, Louisiana and
Boomtown Reno in Verdi,
Nevada, both of which the
company owns today.
1998-1999
In 1998, the company expands further into the
casino hotel business with the acquisition of
Casino Magic Corp. The purchase includes
Boomtown Bossier in Bossier City, Louisiana,
Casino Magic Biloxi in Mississippi and several
boutique casinos in Argentina. With its success
in the casino business, the company sells off the
Hollywood Park racetrack in 1999.
2006
Pinnacle sells its Casino
Magic Biloxi assets and
acquires the President
Casino in St. Louis,
Missouri, after committing
to build two other casino
projects in the city.
2010
In March, River City Casino opens in St. Louis County. In June, Pinnacle
permanently closes the President Casino, and a month later announces the
sale of its Argentina properties. Then in September, Pinnacle announces the
expansion of its Baton Rouge project, which is slated to open summer 2012,
pending regulatory approval.
2011
In January, Pinnacle closes on the purchase of River
Downs Racetrack located in southeast Cincinnati.
In March, Pinnacle and Wynn Las Vegas form a
marketing alliance so our best guests have special
access to two of the most luxurious resorts on the Las
Vegas Strip. Then in April, Pinnacle re-launches its
mychoice player loyalty program that offers guests
an enhanced five-card structure with more choices
and benefits, including an added higher card level
for members to strive for – The Owner’s Club™.
2008
In February, Pinnacle wins approval
to move a gaming license to
Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Months
later, L’Auberge du Lac opens
its $67-million tower expansion,
and Lumière Place unveils the
LumièreLink, which connects the
property to the heart of downtown
St. Louis. In November, Missouri
voters repeal the state’s loss limit.
More Choices. Extraordinary Rewards.
