SURVEY NO. xxxx
JUNE 10, 2014
********************************************
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: This is to certify that the undersigned surveyor at the
request of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
attended the sailboat in and out of the water on the 10th day of June in the year 2014, at xxxxxxxx
Marina, xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Maryland, and did survey said vessel for Mr. & Mrs. xxxxx, while
representing their interests as prospective buyers.
The vessel is a Hunter 410 aft cabin sloop built by Hunter Marine, located at Box 1030, Route
441, Alachua, Florida, 32615, (telephone number 904-462-3077), in the year 2006, as hull
identification number xxxxxxxxxxxx. The vessel’s approximate measurements are:
LOA 40’4”, LOD 38’8”, BEAM 13’3”, DRAFT 5’0”, BALLAST 6,612 lbs., and
DISPLACEMENT 19,400 lbs. The vessel’s documentation number is xxxxxxx.
ALL MAJOR HULL MEMBERS, wherever accessible, together with all surfaces, joints,
bonds, fillets, webs, bulkheads, and hard curve areas were carefully inspected with particular care
being devoted to areas of normal stress concentrations and possible bulkheads or other hard spots.
Field methods of sounding and visual sighting were used. Also, the use of a moisture meter to
determine the moisture content of the hull, decks, and other areas which could retain moisture
causing damage to the vessel.
HULL CONSTRUCTION: the vessel was built on a fiberglass hull and constructed with resin
and fiberglass mat. The hull’s exterior finishing is a gel coat glazing. The deck and cabin top was
built as a one-piece unit and bonded to the hull at the vessel’s sheer. The deck is of a sandwiched
core and fiberglass construction. The vessel has a wing keel. I have noted the following:
a) The fiberglass to resin ratio is good.
b) The resin appears to have cured well.

COMMENTS
The vessel shows little signs of wear and tear and appears to have been well cared for over the
years. The problems noted are common and do not present any major problems at this time.
On March 27, 2007, I spoke with a Mr. Breeden at Hunter Marine (800-771-5556 ext. 3632.)
He stated that the delamination on these rudders is very common, and the coring is not a structural
problem for the rudder even if it is wet. He did suggest drilling a drain hole on the bottom to drain
the water when the vessel is hauled for winter storage. At this point, I would go one step further
and suggest the installation of a bronze threaded drain plug.
I would suggest immediate rebedding of all deck hardware, as a part of a preventive maintenance
program. I would also suggest spraying the motor mounts with oil to help keep them from rusting.
CONCLUSION
Said vessel is suitable manufacturer’s intended purpose.
With consideration given to the condition of the vessel, optional equipment, market condition,
and the use of the BUC Book, it is hereby my professional opinion that an appraised value for
said vessel can be placed at $138,000.00. A replacement value can be set at $229,000.00. This
vessel is no longer in production.
I would advise to request for a full disclosure from the current owner and obtaining an estimate of
all repairs before settlement.
