Births
Randy S. Housler
Kali Denhoff and Vincent Floyd from Coudersport are parents of a son born March 6, 2013, at
Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. Treyvon James
Floyd weighed 7 pounds, 7.9 ounces. He joins his
sister, Jaleanah. Maternal grandparents are Mark
Copp of Austin and Rhonda Kopp of Bethel. Maternal great-grandparents are Mary Denhoff of
Coudersport and James Denhoff of Wellsville,
N.Y.

Randy S. Housler, 56, of
Clear Creek Road, Emporium
died at Elk Regional Health
Center, St. Marys, on March
21, 2013.
He was born March 11,
1957, in St. Marys, a son of
George and Jessie (Stuckey)
Housler. On Dec. 31, 1981, in
Emporium, he married Rexa
McCoole, who survives.
A 1975 graduate of Cameron County High School, he
worked at Mallory Lumber
for more than 18 years and at GKN for more than a
decade.
Randy enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He
loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his mother; his wife; three daughters,
Mandy (Mrs. Bill) Berry of Titusville, Lacie (Mrs.
Todd) Steinberg and Cortney Housler, both of Emporium; a son, Tyler Housler and his wife Samantha, Emporium; four grandchildren Michael, Andrea, Madison
and Logan; a brother, Rodney “Andy” Housler and his
wife Bonnie of St. Marys, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother,
George, in infancy.
A memorial service was held at the Barnett Funeral
Home with Rev. Joseph Short, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Mason
Hill Cemetery, Driftwood.
Library adds books
Friends and family members expressed congratulations to Ormonde “Ray” and JoAnne Dingman, longtime residents of the Potter/Tioga County border village of Gaines. The Dingmans recently celebrated
their 60th wedding anniversary.
Lois Wennin of Emporium celebrated her
100th birthday with
well-wishers at Faith
Baptist Church in Emporium. She has attended the church for
many years and still
drives herself to services every week. Lois
stayed in Emporium
during summers in the
early 1930s while working at Sylvania. She
moved to the town in
1938 to start a full-time
job at Sylvania, which
she held until her retirement in 1971.

Thelma G. Fairman
Thelma G. Fairman, 97, of Driftwood, died March 23, 2013, at
Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys. She was born in Sinnemahoning, a
daughter of Edward and Edith (Hershberger) Lohr. In 1930, she
married Murray Fairman. Among survivors are three sons, one
daughter and one sister. Burial was in Huntley Cemetery, Driftwood. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association. Barnett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Richard ‘Ty’ Brewer
Richard “Ty” Brewer, 72, of Coneville died March 20, 2013,
at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, N.Y. He was born
in 1941 in Coudersport to Richard E. and Pauline R. (Butler)
Brewer. In 1997, he married the former Jacqueline D. “Jackie”
Dates. A 1960 graduate of Coudersport High School, he was a
process engineer for Xerox Corporation in Rochester, N.Y., and
later was a self-employed contractor. Among survivors are his
wife, a son, two stepsons, a sister, and three brothers, including
Brian B. Brewer of Coudersport. A life celebration will be held at
11 am Saturday, May 11, at Shinglehouse American Legion Post
530. Memorials may be made to the legion post. Arrangements
are under the direction of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home,
Shinglehouse.
Shelvadean Snyder
Shelvadean “Deanie” Snyder, 76, of Austin, died March 24,
2013, at her home. A native of Normalville, she had been employed at the former Motorcoils in Emporium and later as a
nurse’s aide at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital. Among survivors are her husband of 55 years, Jake R. Snyder; a son, Donald
R. Snyder Sr. of Coudersport; a daughter, Bonnie M. (Mrs. Brad)
Yeaney of Summerville; and two sisters. A memorial service will
be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 30, at the Austin United
Methodist Church. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to
the Austin United Methodist Church, Austin Ambulance Company, or American Cancer Society.
Andrew P. Pushcar
Andrew P. Pushcar, 92, a lifelong resident of Emporium, died
March 16, 2013, at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport. He was the
son of Paul and Elizabeth (Gabrick) Pushcar. In 1951, he married
Stella Livoto. Mr. Pushcar was a 1939 graduate of Emporium
High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He was employed by Cameron Manufacturing and Sylvania Electric. Among
survivors are his wife; a son, Michael J. Pushcar of Cheyenne,
Wyo.; and a daughter, Mary “Tootsie” (Mrs. Rich) Stuart of Emporium. Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. Burial was in St. Mark Cemetery. Military honors
were accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
Several books have been added to the shelves
of the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library
in Emporium, including a selection of new teen
titles. Among the other additions are health related self-help books, a novel on the inner workings
of Scientology, biographies and the story of the
war in Iraq from an inside perspective.
Guy and Mary Felt Manor resident Helen Cummings recently celebrated her 102nd birthday with friends and
staff. She was born in Renovo on Mar 19, 1911. As a
young woman during the Depression she would take
the train to Emporium to work at Sylvania to support
her family. Later, she moved to Emporium and married
Jack Cummings, who predeceased her. They had four
children, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren
and two great-great-grandchildren.
Board-certified internal medicine specialist, Aaron Hill, MD, has joined the team at
Integrated Internal Medicine in Charles Cole
Memorial Hospital, as well as the Cole’s Hospitalist Unit at Cole
Memorial Hospital in
Coudersport.
He joins a team of
three physicians and
six physician assistants to provide primary care to patients
with a specialty in
internal medicine.
Dr. Hill has more
than 10 ten years
of experience, most
recently from Olean
(N.Y.) General Hospital and St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell,
N.Y.
He is a graduate of the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine in New York City and
completed a residency in internal medicine at
Queens Hospital Center, Mt. Sinai School of
Medicine, in New York.

Tina M. McCutcheon
Tina M. McCutcheon, 48, of Harrison Valley, died Wednesday,
March 27, 2013 in her home. Arrangements are entrusted to the
Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA. Online

Phyllis I. Skudlarket
Phyllis I. Skudlarek, 83, died March 22, 2013, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport. A native of Salamanca, N.Y., she was
married for 56 years to Walter J. Skudlarek Jr., who died in 2006.
Mrs. Skudlarek was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in
Coudersport, A memorial service will be held at Holy Eucharist
at Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean (N.Y.), on Saturday, April
6, at 11 am. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery in the Veterans Field of Honor, Olean. Memorials may be made to Bethany
Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the
Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
Sally Ann Howell
Sally Ann Howell, formerly of Coudersport, died March 16,
2013, at her home in San Antonio, Texas. A graduate of Coudersport Area High School, she was a nurse at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital and served as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force. Among
survivors are her mother, Thelma Howell, and a brother, Jackson
D. Howell, both of Coudersport; two daughters and eight grandchildren. Condolences can be sent to her daughters, Amber (Mrs.
William) Riddle and Tara (Mrs. Jason) Boyd-Kemp, at 13266
Hickory Hills Road, Lot J, Athens AL 35614.
Dr. Preston M. Erway
Long-time respected physician Preston M. Erway, M.D., a
Potter County native, died March 16, 2013, at Green Home in
Wellsboro. He was born in 1931 on the family’s dairy farm in
Raymond to Preston and Minnie (Mosch) Erway. He met his future wife, the former Patricia Plotts, at Mansfield State College.
After a short teaching stint at Harrison Valley School, he began
his medical studies at Temple University. Dr. Erway established a
medical practice in Tioga County, where he served faithfully for
the next 30 years. He was an active volunteer in his retirement.
Among survivors are his wife; three children; six grandchildren;
two brothers, Eugene Erway and Dale Erway; and three sisters,
Donna McCaslin, Rita Barnett and Doris Nichols. Burial was in
Raymond Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Tioga County
