PEORIA ­ Edmund J. "Buddy" Conness, 84, of Peoria died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at
Proctor Place.
Born Feb. 28, 1929, in Streator, Ill., a son of Edward J. and Rose Ann Logan Conness, he married
Virginia June Thomas on June 15, 1985, in Peoria, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2005,
in Peoria.
Also preceding him in death were one brother, John "Jack" Conness; and one nephew, Richard
Conness.
Surviving are one stepson, James E. (Kathy) Graham of Folsom, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Jenise
(Greg) Schaefer of Princeton, Ill.; one niece, Suzanne Foster of Grove Port, Ohio; nine
stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat­grandchildren; one great­nephew; and one great­niece.
He was reared in rural Streator and graduated from Streator High School in 1947. He attended the
University of Illinois and graduated in 1951 with a degree in managing & marketing.
Edmund worked at Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria for 38 years and retired from the Pricing & Scheduling
Department in 1989 as a pricing supervisor.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 427 and was a volunteer for the Multiple
Sclerosis Society. Edmund was active in square dancing and was the past president of the Belles & Beaus Square Dance Club
and served on the Illinois State Council of Square Dance Association. He was a charter member of the Heartland Foundation.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013.
Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at The Wilton Mortuary, with recitation of
the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church
in rural Streator. Burial will be in Lost Lands Cemetery in rural Streator.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
